The first time I watched the show I was drawn to it by its thematic connections with REAL life. I think the first show I watched, or remember, is where that lady is an alcoholic and is pregnant. Olivia is trying to help her but she goes back to drinking. It caught my attention. Then I noticed Mahotie...Stabler and I definetely liked him.

I watch it because I love the themes portrayed and because I love Olivia and Elliot. It's such a great show. It has a lot to do with the fact that I like the actors because I do find Law and Order appealing, but if Orbach is not on the show it doesn't draw me to it, same thing with SVU.

I guess the most coherent answer is that I love the themes PLUS Olivia and Elliot, actually the entire team, except for Michelle...I found her character quite appalling. Overall...It's a combination of both.

I am ashamed to admit that if Elliot and Olivia leave the show...I would probably not watch it, but then again, if the replacement actors have chemistry...I just might!

IT IS HARD TO PUT INTO WORDS WHY I WATCH SVU. I WATCH IT FOR THE SUSPENCE OF EACH AND EVERY EPISODE, THE WAY THE CHARACTERS ACT, THE TYPES OF STORIES THAT ARE USED IN EACH EPISODE AND HOW IT GRABS ME T OWATCH IT MORE AND MORE, THE GREAT ADVISE IT GIVES TO PEOPLE WHO WATCH THE SHOW, AND MOST OF ALL THE WAY ELLIOT LOOKS. OH YEAH!

one thing i really like about it is that is stars lots of people. in l&o there are 4-5 main people and in CI there is pretty much just goren(vincent something). svu has at least 8 people in every show(4 dectives, 1 capitan, 1 ADA, 1 psycologist, and 1 ME)

i also like the fact that it deals with topics that the public tries to shy away from. i know i did it, i didn't think rape was as serious a crime as i do now. well, not a crime persay, but it didn't feel as real as it does now.

If they ever went to a new show, I would definatley watch that show too. Like I loved Alex, and now that she will be on "Conviction" I am definatley going to watch it!

I actually been watching it since i was 9 when it started but i didn't fully understand what the victims went through unitl this year when my neighber raped me and if it wasn't for SVU of Mariska Hargitay i wouldn't of went to the police. i like the realizim of the show and the fact that they take true stories and they are not afraid to say something and they shine a light in the dark and i love everyone on thier even some of the bad guys you just love to hate them but yet you are dorwn to them somehow.

I love SVU because it takes risk by focusing on issues that most people want to ignore and it stars amazing actors and great guest stars as well. The dialogue is usually clever and provocative. And most importantly the issues are presented in a way that forces you to think. It's not always clear who is the victim, perp, or what the verdict should be, are what rules should be manipulated, if any, to get the job done. Things are not in black or white and sometimes you are left to decide what you as the audience think should or will happen.
