Oct. 31, 2005
WWE.com has learned that SmackDown Superstar Christian has quit World Wrestling Entertainment. Be sure to stay tuned to WWE.com as more information becomes available.
I didn't see this coming. I'm reserving my opinion until more news behind this story is released

Jay 'Christian' Reso's final match on WWE television was last night at the TV tapings.
The backstage story is that Christian was given a contract to sign last week in San Francisco. His old contract had expired. They wanted him to sign it on the spot and he didn't do it. He did show up and did the job on the way out last night.
More details shortly.

There is a "insider" newsstand wrestling magazine here in the UK called Power Slam which actually ran an article about Christian a couple of months ago.
In the article, it referred to how Christian had been promised a main event run this year.
Well, Christian had made his new character pretty popular. He was coming on real strong with his swipes at John Cena and the segments he had with Evolution on Raw in late April-early May.
When Cena arrived on Raw though, he was jobbed out, switched to Smackdown, and jobbed out some more. (Jobbed out - losing to everyone, for the younger readers)
I really don't blame Christian. Poor guy has been treated terribly by WWE, and really showed potential. So much for the promised main event push, and I don't blame him for leaving WWE.
I hope he helps TNA out. WWE has pissed me off too many times recently - they need a kick up the butt.

I don't understand why anyone would just quit a six figure per year job entertaining people worldwide. Sometimes when you work for someone else there are times when you just have to swallow your pride. It has happened to me on more than one occassion and I'm sure will repeat itself - and I don't make six figs a year!

I see the point about swallowing pride for a 6 figure income, but in Christian's case, I think he deserves some time in the spotlight as a main eventer. He's given his all to the company for the past 7 or 8 years, so I don't blame the guy for leaving. At least with TNA, he might stand a chance at some recognition since you literally have to kiss Vince's butt to get any kind of respect from that family.

What he's wanting to know and is not getting, for clarification, is that CONTRACTUALLY Christian's final appearence was that "Smackdown!" invasion of "Raw". He was officially, job-less, after that appearence. What people saw was his final minutes.
It was a 'live' show. Contractually that was his final appearence. "Raw" has never been taped.

^ All of that is true, however, he will appear this Friday on SmackDown since it was taped last Sunday.

I suspect Christian just needs to take some time off (like Y2J). They will both be back, rest assured.
