WWE fans speak out
October 14, 2005

Since the firing of Jim Ross on Monday, WWE has received more than 1,000 e-mails and phone calls from fans. The following is a small sampling:

Name: Joe F.
Comments: Bring back JR. The way he was treated was awful. To treat the best wrestling announcer ever in such a manner after so many years of dedicated service is beyond reasonable to me. I have been following the organization since the the 60's and this is one of the worst things I have seen yet. Until JR is back you have lost one Raw viewer who felt in the past it was must watch TV.

The WWE certainly isn't trying to hide the outrage that many fans feel about JR being fired in the way he was. I think we've just entered another WWE moment of reality vs. it's all a work.

The question here of course is -- are these letters a complete work, or are these from fans who are totally clueless?
FanNBham
The Fans, a lot of them, are acting just the way the WWE wants them to react -- outraged.

so that it will bring more people and that get more money

I think J.R just needed some time off. People like Stone Cold. J.R's "firing' is a way to showcase Stone Cold again. Brilliant storyline.
batista2003
i think the mcmahons are a bunch idiots for what they did and i dont think i will watch wrestling anymore until they change their stink ways

Hooray, showcasing a 40 year old with an incredibly questionable neck.

You're being rather cynical than satirical, IMO. Having Stone Cold back in the ring and having him feud with the McMahon's is great entertainment. Some people won't care for it, you amoung them, others are going to eat it up. Plus, when Stone Cold brings JR back into a WWE Arena -- standing 5 minute ovation.

Seven years ago it was. S

ince Raw went back to USA the main storylines have been awful, just awful. Bad rehases of angles I watched years ago. I feel like all the good work WWE has done over the past year in advancing characters is going down the tubes.

Granted. Yes, it's not anything new. However, WWE and RAW also have a newer audience than those of us that grew up during the 80's and 90's. I have a son who is just now 12 and he hasn't seen any of it. Now he knows who Stone Cold is and he's seen tapes and pictures of the Beer Truch and hose down of Vince McMahon. He hasn't lived it yet. It makes perfect since to re-introduce the characters to the next generation of viewers while at the same time entertaining yesterday's viewers.

I don't mean any offense by this, but that is what DVD's and VHS are for. I actually started watching in 1992 but I started buying all the Colesium videos and everything, so I feel like I have been watching since the first Wrestlemania.

I think the main problem I have is this: 2005 so far has been an excellent year for WWE: Loads of great matches, a good year on PPV (Great Amercian Bash the only bad one) and they've made new stars in Cena and Batista, and there are potential stars a plenty.

They were making great strides forward, but since the move to USA I feel like they've switched the gears into reverse. And the angle with the McMahons, Ross and Austin isn't going to make any new stars, and takes the time away from the guys you should be showcasing, the guys who actually wrestle at house shows, the guys who will still be wrestling next decade...

I'll stop ranting now... too much caffeine.

The feud so far involves zero full time wrestlers and is leading to zero matches involving any full time wrestlers.

And yet, it will lead to a Hogan vs. Stone Cold Main Event at WrestleMania 22. Once the feud is full swing, perhaps as early as Taboo Tuesday, it will keep plenty of New and Old viewers tuning in to see both Hogan and Austin show up on RAW. It will boost TV ratings and will lead to WM22 being the most watched WWE PPV ever.

The McMahon's feuding with Austin will have a huge pay-off. You might not enjoy it -- others and I will.
Caliban
I really don't think the Hogan and Austin match is going to have anything to do with this current angle.

I think it will be Hulk Hogan that becomes Vince's ringer in his feud with Austin. Hogan has always praised McMahon and that can be incoporated into a storyline.
Cena__Gurl
Coach should be fired not J.R.
Caliban
I keep saying. Wrestlemania XIX. Why the hell would Vince and Hogan have anything to do with each other?

*sighs*

It's Wrestling Entertainment. There was a time when Austin and McMahon were on the same side. Hogan takes the side of McMahon in the feud and turns heel. When Hogan and Austin face each other -- Austin is the face and Hogan comes into the ring with all the heel heat created by the McMahons.

It's actually a tried and true character/gimmick turn in Wrestling.

It's harebrained booking like that which put WCW out of business.

Autin turning heel and aligning with Vince McMahon was one of the most shocking and unexpected turns in Wrestling History. Actually having Hogan aligning with Vince will probably be more so -- although somewhat less shocking. Having Austin go over Hogan will truely be a Historic moment in Wrestling -- on the level of Hogan going over Andre.

I miss the days of Angle and Austin having hug fights over Vince.

Good luck turning Hogan heel at this point, though.
