I like Tales From The Crypt! I've watched quite a few eps, and I was always surprised to see who was guest starring. Pretty coool - if you like that horror/sci-fi thing - and I DO! I don't have any of the eps on disk, and I don't know too much about it's origins, creators, etc. SciFi channel used to air them a lot more than they do now. I have all the BtVS and Angel disks - also extremely cool, should you wonder. I actually need more room on my shelves before I purchase any more sets. A true TV/Movie Geek!

Ahhh, the Simpsons. Exxxcellent! Don't have the actual seasons - yet. We have some Halloween disks, but I need to get the Christmas disk - painfully funny, the whole way through. We actually have all the Stargate SG-1's too, (verrrry cool) and since you're here, maybe you'll know: WHEN oh when will season 8 be released??? I can find no mention of a release date anywhere on the net. The closest I've come is on Amazon.UK where they have individual disks for sale at like 15 pounds each - no set. AARRRGGGHH! If you've heard anything, do tell. I've looked on TVshowsonDVD.com, the SG-1 site, etc. etc. Truly annoying, given that Stargate Atlantis (yawn) was released on disk a while ago, and was run at the same time as SG-1 S8. Plus, SciFi won't play the whole season in order - ever. Can't even tape it, and I missed a bunch of eps the first go-around.
Ok, rant over and hope you can help.
Anyway, re Tales, are you a fan from way back or a newbie? Do you have info on how it all started, fun and interesting tidbits, etc. etc.? I'd be interested, as I've considered buying some. Oh yeah, bought La Femme Nikita S1 yesterday - the cheapest I've ever seen it, $64.00! Not sure whey this show was always so expensive.
This was a lot longer than I expected. Sorry! Love my dvds, though.
What shows on disk does everyon have??

Jul 12 2005, 06:22 PM
I cant find any info on season 8, but I'll keep looking for it. I've been a tales fan from the beginning.....I always loved horror stuff since I was a kid. When I was younger my mom didn't want me watching themore violent gorey films so she let me watch this. Yeah its got bad language but other then that its not too bad. You should definately consider buying it.
Since you asked what TV shows everyone has on dvd here are mine:
South Park(Seasons 1-5)
Simpsons(seasons 4 & 5)
Unsolved Mysteries(Bizarre Murders, Strange Legends, UFOs, Ghosts, and Psychics)
Strangers With Candy(Seasons 1 -3)
The 4400(Season 1)
Well here is my whole collection:

WOW!! You ROCK! I thought I was one of the only girls out there with a yen for horror. I have almost all of the same ones - a few I don't. I have seen everyone of them though, and I highly approve. Speaking of, have you seen the new George Romero Land of the Dead yet?? Is it as fabulous as I think it'll be?? I can't wait, been too busy. And, can you even wait another moment to see The Devil's Rejects, by Rob Zombie?? Woo-hoo!! I loved House of a 1000 Corpses. I have I Spit On Your Grave, (um, disturbing, much??) but not the new DVD version with Commentary by Joe Bob Briggs (drive-in and B-movie/Horror movie afficianado. Real name John Bloom. Hails from Texas, and is soooo cool.) Love Creepshow (King is GOD!!!), gotta get 28 days Later, & Jeepers 1&2. Got Re-Animator, a no-brainer. So to speak! Ha ha ha!! Been looking for a Directors cut of Scream for the longest. One of my ALL time faves. Every DVD I've purchased (3 so far) of it is cut in a different place, with different bits taken out. Not Cool. If you know of one, do tell. Not many people have Dead Alive and It in their collections. NICE! I did manage to see War of the Worlds, and I was kinda impressed! I thought Steven would make it all kid friendly like he did with Jurassic. I could go on, 350 titles and counting, but as I don't have a cool website...I won't
As for shows, lets see:
Alias 1-3
BtVS 1-7
Angel 1-5
SG-1 1-7
ER (one of my other faves) 1-3 (hurry up already!)
Keen Eddie (they totally botched the soundtrack, replaced the ultra cool one with some lame one for the DVD)
Twin Peaks S1 (PLEASE, PLEASE release S2 on DVD. My VHSs are fading)
My So-Called Life S1 (one of my prized posessions)
Poirot Vol. 1-3
Mystery Science Theatre Vol. 1,3, 4
La Femme Nikita S1 brand new
OK!! Whose a bigger geek than me? I love talking about movies and could do it all day, but as this is a 4400 website I will try and refrain. I did notice that I have yet to purchase 4400 S1, and I will correct that shortly. I have 'em on tape, but so not the same.
And, hey thanks, if you do come across SG-1 S8 info, I would be eternally grateful!
THIS is a cool thread - thanks!
Anyone else a big ol' movie geek??

Just don't go in thinking it gonna be like Dawn or Day cause its not. Go in with an open mind and enjoy it!
If I have to rate it on 10 Scale I'd give it a 9.
Edit: What wrong with Dead-Alive? Its a cheesy horror classic LOL. I actually got it as a present a couple of Christmas's ago but im glad I did. Now you can't find it anywhere....

HOLY CRAP - THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Where WAS this info?? I've looked everywhere, I thought. Man, that is rockin' good news! Made my day.
BTW, S5 of Angel is SOOO GOOD. Spike and Angel will have you doubled over in fits of laughter. And the ending is fantastic - this season alone made me go out and by all the rest. Totally worth it. S1 rocks too - many crossovers w/ Buffy, Faith that are great.

USA: 10/04/05
Can: 10/04/05
Aust: 08/17/05
France: 08/16/05
Apparently, MGM has confirmed these release dates so...

I know this is OT, but we still have some time to kill before the next ep, and I was kinda hoping to read something OTHER than an 'Ode to Alana' - what is it, like FIVE threads in a row devoted to one character's 'hotness'?? OK... LOL! (I'm sorry - make that SEVEN.) Eye Roll.
Looking forward to the next ep. - big time!

Hey there 4301 - how the heck are ya?
Family guy, hu? I've watched about half an ep of that, so sadly I cannot comment on the show per sey. But I saw the creator on Dinner for Five and he was very cool, funny and intelligent - all the things you look for in an animated series! So, Joe Bob says 'check it out'. I'm a long time Simpsons fan. As are we all, to a point, hm?
As you are here on this board, and this show is decidedly scifi, what other series do you like and or have??

Not really a series of TV shows but, we got the Monster series of movies on DVD - the old Dracula, Wolfman and Frankenstein movies. Then, we got the Mummy movies series on DVD. All these come in very good packages not a lot of extras, really, but the DVDs are cool. It is kind of fun to watch the horror movies that don't have all the just violence stuff. You can actually watch the movies, get kind of creeped out without being grossed out.

Nothing wrong with an off-topic thread, at least this one is interesting! I wouldn't have guessed there were so many horror fans! I'm kind of new to the whole DVD thing, so don't have much of a collection yet. I did see someone had Poirot on their list (sorry, I forget who that was). I love that show, David Suchet is the ultimate Poirot. I'm a huge mystery fan, have been an avid reader since birth, ok not quite birth, but pretty close. I do have Midsomer Murders on DVD, got that recently for b-day.
Speaking of horror shows, does anyone remember Dark Shadows?

It's not too bad. Not nearly in the same league as Aliens (the second one) but if you're a Riley fan, you should see it. I like Riley too. Hey there are far worse things you could be doing on a Sat. night!

Me Too!! My dad read me the Chronicles of Nania set and the LOTR and the Hobbit when I was young. I read them myself later. The LOTR movies did indeed just get better and better. I hope they don't mess with the Narnia ones too much. Too bad Peter Jackson isn't directing again - he had the good sense to do right by LOTR, bless him. Looking forward to his take on King Kong!!
4301
Jul 31 2005, 12:45 AM
Yeah, King Kong, I think Jackson will get that one right!
As for Narnia, the same art/scenic designer from LOTR is working on Narnia, so it should be good. I just read an article about how much this project is challenging him to create a world different from LOTR, its more like a "childs dream" he says. sounds like its in good hands.

Red Eye by Wes Craven?? Why haven't I heard of this flick? I must be slipping. Bad horror fan, bad! I watched Cursed the other day - the one about werewolves. Pretty lame. I remember hearing about it when it was still in production. Wasn't Scott Foley of Felicity fame supposed to be in it? I guess something happened. Anyway, the good news is the SOUNDTRACK to Cursed is far superior to the movie, so I got me some cool tunes.

that's good news that someone who did such a fantastic job on LOTR will be involved in all things Narnia. They really honored LOTR, stayed true to the story and characters, and of course bringing that world to the screen, and I think they'll probably do the same for Narnia. I haven't read those books in a long time, might have to refesh my memory.

I'm glad to see other people are Poirot fans as well as Dark Shadows fans. I'm kind of surprised that I haven't seen anyone mention Stephen King (unless I missed it) on here. I thought The Shining was a classic (the original with Jack Nicholson). As a rule, I'm not really that into horror, but I also liked Carrie and Interview with the Vampire for horror movies. Then I vaguely remember some old (70's) movie about a bunch of kids living in some remote place and any adults seemed to disappear...I don't know, the old brain isn't what it used to be.

Another X-files movie?? Hey that's cool, I didn't hate the first one I have to say. I love the Files, always have. Mulder definitely floats my boat! Guess you could say I'm a Phile...ba-ha!
And I can't believe I haven't mentioned The King (Stephen, that is.) HUGE fan. More of the books than the movies - that is one writer people have a hard time translating to the big screen for some reason. Maybe 3 movies have done him justice: The Shining, Dolores Claiborne, and Shawshank Redemption. Ok, and Carrie.
I started reading his books when I was about 13 - Firestarter was the first. Wow. I was hooked right there. I love his 'Forwards' and 'Intros', when he talks to his 'Gentle Readers'. He is such a great guy. When he had that car accident (i.e. when that van accidently HIT him) and he was touch and go there for a while, I was actually really scared he might die, like the thought of losing a friend. Kinda geeky, hu? But he just has such a way of connecting, and making you feel like he's talking to you.
And no, I'm not his number one fan!! LOL Actually, Misery wasn't bad either, movie wise. James Caan was some serious miscasting, but Kathy Bates was right on the money.

Saw the previews for Chronicles of Narnia looks great. Also, you can see the movie preview of King Kong on the Internet. I would wish for Peter Jackson to do the Hobbit, too. But, Elijah Wood already said he wouldn't do it.
Independence Day is great! Also, the idea and graphics of Jurassic Park is excellent. JP 4 will be out soon. I loved #1 and 3. 2 was Ok, but not great. Hopefully, 4 will scare you like #1.

QAF is heading out the door - only one more ep. (So is SFU, actually.) I've watched it pretty much since it first aired. LOVE Brian Kinney And Emmett. These last few eps have been incredible, it looks like the show will go out strong. (I was gonna say go out with a bang, or go out on top...but that's just too obvious! )
Anyway, Six Feet Under is getting so depressing that I am looking forward to it ending. Never thought I'd say that. Nate is turning into a truly unlikable guy, imo.

Hey there XFiles Boy and 4301 -
Re QAF; it has gotten really good lately, hu? I'm glad Lindsay and Mel are back too, although I can barely stand Mel. I won't give away tonites plot, although you are probably watching it as I write this. You'll love it, full of heart. As the last eps have been. And YES that soundtrack is amazing. They have a really big one on iTunes - something like 40 or 50 songs for 24.00. I'm seriously considering it. Just for that Sneaker Pimps song 'Spin Spin Sugar'. A.Mazing.
As for the shows I'M addicted to??
ER
Alias
Dead Zone
4400 Duh!
QAF - bidding it a fond farewell
Six Feet - in it's better days. Right now I'm just seeing it out the door.
Good Eats - a MUST see!
Stargate SG-1
The Simpsons
Buffy and Angel reruns, of COURSE!
Think that's it. Egads, more than enough. Sundays lately are busy! Four shows on in one night - two of which I am taping. Luckily we have Dish, and have PST and EST feeds - get to watch 'em twice! Yay.

Kind of related but not really to the show itself but when I watch Queer as Folk, as the closing music plays, it cuts off and starts up again like for the past two seasons. Does it do that for you too and why would the owners of the show let that happen. It makes the show sound real cheap.
