How many seasons, and which ones, are on dvd?

It is probably the same thing that happened to Roswell. In Roswell, they had to get permission from some music people to get permission to make the DVD with there music on it. SOme people like U2 said no so they had to go back and make some of it over again. In SVU, you don't notice music too much but if there was something else going on, maybe they had to do. I was wondering if that was the time of the 9/11 and maybe they want to airbrush the New York buildings out or something. I know they did that with some of NYPD Bule when 9/11 happened. Who knows. Probably something to do with copying stuff rights.

Season 2 was $41.99 at Amazon. I got Seasons 1 and 5 at Ebay. I paid around $30.00 for each.

i really want season 3... it has my favorite episode on it!
maybe its copyrights.. but i've noticed that SVU avoids using brand names.. "club cola" in the episode where the girl was raped and then hid out for two day, and "aptril" with the episode with the little boy who shot his schoolmates, and "quinium" the army drug. Though the "club cola" thing wasnt actually relevant, there were real cases involving a drug like "quinium" and a drug like "aptril." Either way, SVU avoided having to actually use the real name, like RDK - BTK. So I don't know if it has to do with copyrights.
I guess it could be the trade center thing.. but then why would they hold back the episodes in 2002?

The Military did have a similar case having to do with "Quintium". (the type of thing they like to keep hush hush.....under the table) so if SVU were to use the real name and then someone from the military found out and maybe would want answers or even want to quit. I tink They are just avoiding Lawsuits

well what makes me mad is that was a very contraversial thing - and didn't they publish that episode on itunes?
but they don't seem to want to publish the world trade center..

Maybe there is no real reason why they haven't came out yet seeing how that season just came out. Sadly I only own season 5 of SVU
I really hope season six comes out as they say in December. i would be sooooooooooo thrilled
I have watched season five quite a bit. It has the episode where Alex was shot. (that was one of the first episodes i ever watched for svu)

NBC released Season 1 in a normal fashion. Then when they noticed that other studios were releasing their latest season just before the newest one, they decided to try that and skipped to Season 5 just before Season 6 aired. Now they're backtracking and doing the earlier seasons while trying to decide if they should continue releasing the latest season simultaneously.
They did the same thing with the mothership's DVDs and released the first couple of seasons, then jumped to season 14 (15?) and are going back to get the earlier ones.
It has nothing to do with trademarks or copyrights, it's just a timing thing. The network/studio wants to capitalize on current fan interest as much as possible without alienating those that want the box sets in the order they were shown on air.

I bought season 2 used on Amazon and season 5 used on eBay. Season 2 plays okay, but one of the season 5 discs has a bunch of crap on it and doesn't play straight through. I really hate that. I should have just bought it new.

The reason NBC/Uni changes the names of the drugs or drinks or killers is because this is "ripped from the headlines" fiction, not documentaries. Most folks know what the stories are really about - regardless of whether or not the fictionalized story tells the same ending - but because it is a fictional story, they change the names and some of the outcomes to make it less "real" and more dramatic.

I'm confused about your comment. Can you explain what you mean?
Also, for those wanting to know when the next season will be available on DVD, just keep an eye on www.tvshowsondvd.com . You can register and have e-mail alerts sent to you about any show you're interested in. They have the most accurate and up-to-date information I've seen out there because they're in steady contact with the networks, studios and often the production companies too.

Yeah, I was wondering that too. Are you saying that 9/11 was controversial and that's why they don't show it in the theme anymore?

If you can't find them in your local video store or superstore (i.e. Target, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City), then I suggest you order them online via amazon.com or one of the dvd speciality outlets.
