Congratulations debcats7, I'm also a recovering alcoholic and have 2 years of sobriety as of Sept 17th. Keep up the good work - one day at a time, 10 minutes at a time if that's what it takes!

I am not an alcoholic, but I have had people near me, who are/have been alcoholics. I know, that soberiety is not easy, but not either impossible. I wish all the best for you!

Dear Deb
Congrats! I'll be sober 20 years in January ......but still have the same solution as every alcoholic who has one day to 60 years.....a daily reprieve contingent upon our daily spiritual maintanace. There many good people on the Monk board with good hearts .......many who are creative..........many who are incapable of wishing harm on anyone, anytime, anywhere.......so hang out with us. If you need to or want to you can always PM me......
I wish you God's love and hope you will meet many of us as you trudge the happy road of destiny.

I'm so happy for you deciding to be sober!!! I'm not an alcoholic, but I know it's a serious problem, so I applaud you for trying to confront it. By admitting you have a problem, you already started to confront it. I always say that the first step to solving a problem is admitting that you have one. That's half the battle right there. The next step is trying to take care of it. Support groups, friends, and family can help you here. One thing that I always found useful, and I don't know if this works with alcoholism, is to try and substitute something for it, and it looks like you've done that with the Monk DVDs. You're next step is to keep up with it. I know it's easier said than done, but trust me, you will be so much better off without alcohol and you'll feel so much better, not to mention you'll be a lot healthier!!!! Good luck!!!
