Hey all you Monk Fans!! I was just thinking about my favorite episode of Monk, and wanted to know what all my friends at the forums thought. So just post your favorited episode and give alttle blurb about why. My favorite: Mr. Monk Stays Up All Night. This season six episode was so amazing. It just showcases how great the writers are and how great of an actor Tony is. Personally, i think that season six is one of the best seasons overall. ~Monksessive

Happy Birthday Mr. Monk...This one was just sweet.....it was so sweet of Natalie to throw him a party!!!!
Mr. Monk Goes to Group Therapy...sheer hilarity, especially Monk and Harold Krenshaw having to work together at the end!!!!!!
Mr. Monk and the Critic...I'm a huge Drama Queen in the literal sense (done over 30 productions).....and love Broadway....need I say more?

Mr. Monk Gets Cabin fever...I just like seeing him room with the Captain "I heard a scream" "That was me, you tied my foot to the bed!!!!"
Mr. Monk Goes to the Dentist....just because it's interesting
Mr. Monk Gets Drunk....I LOVE seeing him drunk!!!!!! "You look like a moose!!!! I'm gonna call you "Mr. Look Like a Moose"!!!!! "we're just two guys sitting here in a revolving resteraurant"
Mr. Monk Goes to a Concert...."Mr. Monk, that wasn't a pay phone!!!!" "Then where did I put the quarter? What was I talking into??!?!?!"
Mr. Monk and the Blackout....."Lobby...LOBBY, LOBBY. LOBBY, etc." I do this every time I'm in an elevator now!!!!!!
Mr. Monk and the Panic Room"....I never thought I'd see the day where he takes care of an animal!!!!!
Mr. Monk Joins a Cult.....I LOVED Howie Mandel in this episode!!!!!
Mr. Monk and the Airplane....I go on a cruise every year as a family vacation and I've been on MANY planes...in fact when I got this season for Christmas one year, I was actually ON A PLANE when I was watching it!!!!!! I also love Gary Marshall and pretty much everything he does!!!!!
Mr. Monk and the Magician....I just like seeing all the magic tricks!!!!!!
Mr Monk Is Up All Night....this is just hilarious, especially Disher with his Captain America PJ'S!!!!!!!

I have too many favorites but these are a few that come to mind:


Mr Monk goes to Las Legas- Its hilarious! Stottlemeyer doing karaoke, Monk using Natalie as a test subject for stangulation in the elevator, the end convo w/ the "I have you" is sweet

Mr Monk Paints His Masterpiece- the banana, and Natalie being sooo embarrased of the picture Monk painted of her, but refusing to sell it for any price bc she knows how much it means to him. Its hilarious how the picture is hidden from the audience the whole time- but you get a sneak peak when Natalie races to try and throw it in the fire at the end.

Mr Monk gets Drunk- Monk discovering his favorite wine is made with feet, Drunk Monk

Mr Monk is at your Service- bc aside from it being hilarious all the way through- Samwise Gamgee is in it- and something about a pillow pregnancy??? If i remember correctly.

Mr Monk is on the Run- all of it.

Mr Monk goes to the Hospital- LOVE IT!!!!!!

Oh, and basically all of season 6.

Mine is Mr. Monk Takes a Vacation from Season 1. It was the very first episode I ever saw and is still my very favorite. It was what got me hooked on Monk. And I absolutely loved Mr. Monk and Sharona. I liked getting to see Monk with both his girls. I really like Natalie, but I'm a Sharona fan at heart. Over the years there are many episodes that follow a close 3rd behind these, but these are two that I really enjoy.

It's been difficult choosing episodes that I love for the Monk marathon, but I have survived through it. *hehe*



I can't just choose one. Because there could be an all-around great episode, but there weren't any great Monk moments. Then there is a so-so episode, but there was a really funny Monk moment or Randy/Sharona/Stottlemeyer/Natalie moments. So to the best of my ability, I've chosen one from each season. I've edited this post for the umpteenth time now.


Season 1 -- Mr. Monk and the Candidate (So well done for the first episode! Great job at introducing Monk and the show)
Season 2 -- Mr. Monk Goes To Mexico (Loved watching Monk freak out in another country and losing his luggage)
Season 3 -- Mr. Monk Gets Cabin Fever (Funny, funny ep! But there were so many good eps in Season 3)
Season 4 -- Mr. Monk Gets Jury Duty (Funny watching Monk, Natalie, and Randy trying to communicate to each other. Many good eps in this season too)
Season 5 -- Mr. Monk Can't See A Thing (Odd choice, but I liked Monk being blind and still figuring out a way to solve the crime...funny watching him think he's going to fall. "Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike" and "Mr. Monk Gets A New Shrink" are very, very close difficult-to-choose runner-ups)
Season 6 -- Mr. Monk Goes to the Bank (Great Randy moments! "Mr. Monk Stays Up All Night" was a close runner-up...that scene btwn Monk and Trudy's cornea recipient...beautiful)
Season 7 -- Mr. Monk Buys a House (Watching Natalie drag that bathtub with her ankle, while Monk stood by...priceless. A few good eps in this season too, but you can't win them all)
Season 8 -- Mr. Monk Goes to Group Therapy (The endless fighting and bantering btwn Monk and Harold LOL)

here's my favs episodes

I like any one with Ambrose. Brothers working together to take down a creep - seriously . . . there is nothing cooler - dawg.

Anyway, the one where he becomes super cool with that freaky medicine and becomes, "The Monk" is interesting. Basically I just think those kids who ditched him in the pool were the dorks - and he was a little trippy but cool.

Favorite would have to be Mr. Monk and the Three Pies episode 11, season 2. That episode was perfect for a few reasons. The acting was exceptional, especially Ambrose. The humor was spot on, laugh out loud kinda jokes, and the mystery was pretty clever. I've watched that episode at least 20 times.

I have a lot of favorite episodes but I think this last one with Sharona returning has been one of the funniest ones since Traylor Howard joined the cast. I know the cases were better in earlier episodes.

This is amazing and frightening. Of the 5 or 6 shows I put down as my favorites, only one of them was picked by others here --Gets a New Shrink--, and only by one person. Yikes, what is wrong with me? I must need a shrink! The others are not mentioned at all. The ones I picked aren't milestone episodes and don't have great meaningful highlights, but are funny and clever throughout; that was my standard.

They are:
¶ Gets A New Shrink -- perfect episode. funny throughout, very Monk-issue-related, hits the nail on the head. Episode with the most Dr. Kroger in it. Loved Monk and Harold arguing, Monk's zooming through the 5 or so stages of grief, substituting Natalie for Kroger, etc.
¶ Favorite Show-- wonderful and sexy -- give them great credit for recreating so fastidiously the Cooper Clan show to be like the Brady Bunch show. ... ..... Great the way Monk is knocked out in the present and joins the 35-year-old cast of the Cooper Clan show to find the clue to the murder and excoriate the cast, and then pop up in the present to help apprehend the murderer. Wow!
¶ 12th Man -- loved Mrs Ling, the Chinese dry cleaner ... ..... Also liked the way they all fawned over Sharona because she was dating the deputy mayor who might become the next mayor -- they all, including Monk, wanted to get favors through Sharona
¶ Biggest Fan -- same as Gets A New Shrink -- perfect episode. funny throughout, very Monk-issue-related, hits the nail on the head.
¶ Fights City Hall -- not a milestone episode, but very well written and funny. You have to watch intently to appreciate it all. The hot dog vendors were great, ... .. and especially the "dolt" receptionist, the but of many good jokes. Dozens of good moments, like Monk bringing flowers to sweet talk an office worker to vote his way at the City Council meeting.
¶ Lotto Fever -- wonderful the way Monk and Natalie switch power and celebrity positions, Monk loses Natalie for a while. Clever.

That's the beauty of this whole thing. Everyone has their own favorites. And if any of us likes the same episodes, hey, you found a buddy.
I liked many of the episodes that was listed here and I thoroughly enjoyed them. I really enjoyed "Mr. Monk Gets a New Shrink" but I didn't choose that one because it wasn't LOL funny all the way through...or the storyline wasn't as engaging as the other episodes. But as you can see, I listed a lot of episodes as favorites, so I got a problem. I'm gonna need to edit that post! What's a girl to do? I just couldn't make up my mind!

Thats a lot of episodes lol. Hmm can't choose but I did like Monk and the Voodoo Curse.

I couldn't possibly pick just one, so I'll do what many others have done and pick one favorite per season...which will be hard enough!!!!

1: Mr. Monk and the Earthquake
2: Mr. Monk Gets Married
3: Mr. Monk and the Kid
4: Mr. Monk and Mrs. Monk
5: Mr. Monk and the Class Reunion
6: Mr. Monk is on the Run (part 2)
7: Mr. Monk Falls in Love
8 (so far): Mr. Monk and the Voodoo Curse

Okay, that was very tough....a terrific reminder that this show truly has had a very strong eight season run! I was going through the episode guides to remind myself of all the titles and was struck by how many strong episodes there were spread throughout the full eight seasons...a true testament to the outstanding writers, cast, and crew of this show!!!!

Like so many others, I have trouble picking just ONE favorite. But my all-time favorite has to be Mr. Monk and the Kid. I'm such a softy, and I cry in that one every time.

My favorite Monk moments come from a couple of episodes that are not on my list of all-around favorites:
Mr. Monk and the Astronaut -- I love when he stands in front of the plane and even the tough-guy astronaut has to acknowledge his strength.
Mr. Monk Takes Manhattan -- I love when he is in the hospital room and says something like, "This is me turning off the machine," and then, "This is Trudy turning it back on."

One of my favorite funny Monk moments, part of what hooked me on Monk because I had just started watching when I saw On the Run, was when he was in court and the judge was setting bail at $900,000 (or something like that) -- Monk whispers to his lawyer, and then the lawyer asks the judge if he can make it an even million. That was one of the moments that really defined Monk for me!

Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike. Total classic. The Alice cooper thing was pure gold!!!
