Actually, Shawn's hair wasn't any better at the beginning of the season. Did the actors join some kind of 'no hair allowed' fraternity while on break??

I'm in the camp that actually LOVES the buzz cut. It's very much realistic as far as the types of haircuts modern police detectives (yes, real-life detectives) wear, especially since a lot of military personnel and going into law enforcement as a career. As far as "mean and unapproachable" - I think Lassie would take that as a compliment! Also, notice that his wardrobe has improved significantly this season, I haven't seen a bad tie or suit yet! I attribute this all-around change to finally breaking ties with Victoria, he's going solo baby! That's what happens when your wife quits dressing you (or you quit wearing clothes you think she'd like).

Now as much as I love the buzz cut, I think it was WAY too short in "He Dead", O don't like to see scalp. So I'm glad he's letting it grow out a bit. I'm hoping he keeps it about the same length as it is now, but from recent photos it looks like it'll be about as long as it was in season 2 (Psy vs. Psy) by the end of filming for season 4.5. I hope the buzz cut is back (although not as extreme as "He Dead") in season 5!

I do prefer his hair longer, but kudos to him for taking such a trip and supporting the troops!

I thought that I had seen reference to his visit somewhere. Thanks for the link. What a wonderful show of solidarity by him, considering how much it's been commented on both on the show and on the forums.

I like his longer hair better. Although, it did make for some funny hair jokes in Extradition: British Columbia

I must clarify that I actually have no idea if he cut his hair because of his trip to visit the troops. That's just a total assumption on my part. I just know he visited the troops, and he cut his hair, so I've just assumed the two are connected, but they may not be. Just wanted to be clear on that, LOL.

It makes sense that the two might be related

I saw it in the beginning of the season and was like "WHAT DID HE DO TO HIS HAIR?!?!?!?!?!?"

I think in one of his interviews (posted on the website), Tim mentioned that the show/network weren't too happy with the buzz cut, so even though he thinks it's definitely something Lassiter would do, we probably won't see it that short again in the future.

And I'm with you bigkitty75-- I really like Shawn's hair this season-- it looked especially good in High Top Fade Out.
