I have noticed that on the Psych Merchandise Thread, there are quite a few people that want to see a Psych Cookbook come out. Well, I would love to start a thread on that exact topic. FOOD baby!

As a "big" guy (I was a lineman in high school and never stopped eating that way) who enjoys good food, I would love to see a cookbook come to some sort of fruition.

So...My idea for this is to get some great recipes. But more importantly, some great recipe titles. As they come up I will try and start making a list, putting them (the recipe titles) in some sort of organised fashion on this first post for all to see. In the end, It would just be cool for me to see what we fans can come up with for recipe titles.

So this is for those who are fans of delicious flavor...

Anything goes...
- Anna Banana's Delicious Pudding (Spellingg Bee...It pairs well when listening to the song Venus by Bananarama)

1. Recipes already mentioned in the show itself
2. Pineapple recipes
3. Henry Recipes
4. Etc.

Who knows...maybe the USA people will start to make one of their own for us to see!
(If there is a thread already doing this then please tell me now so I don't repeat past topics discussed. As far as I know, I have only seen this mentioned in the thread on Psych Merchandise)

Since I posted most recently on the merchandise thread about wanting a cookbook, I'll get the ball rolling.
I loved the line in Extradition: British Columbia about falling for the Flaming Baked Alaska Diversion Trick again.
'Again' being the key word. Clearly they love their Flaming Baked Alaska. happy.gif So the recipe would be titled:

The Flaming Baked Alaska Diversion Trick

Thanks that is great. I loved that episode.

I have updated it at the top. I will do my very best to keep it updated if the ball somehow gets rolling fast. Thanks so much for getting it going! biggrin.gif

I think we need a pineapple upside down cake recipe for an easy bake oven. There should be a section for items that can be cooked w/o an oven. After all, Shawn loves his easy bake oven and hot plate (Earth wind and Wait for iiit). Which reminds me soup recipes need to be there too.
LadyOfTheLord
Pizza Chili Cheese Fries. Even though Shawn never got them, that doesn't mean we can't either!
DoggyDoc65
Thanks for remembering past dishes. I've put up a few new names on the big list. I would love to get some funny names for the different Jerk Chicken dishes that Shawn and Gus might have.

Anything at all, I would love to hear it.
LynnLynn17
I love this idea!

Maybe there could be a drink section with smoothies since they seem to love their smoothies. We can have items such as pineapple smoothie and the Blueberries in the Mist (in Truer Lies) smoothie. We also could have the Dutch Hot Cocoa (in Ghosts) because I would love to make that on cold nights!

There should also be a taco recipe, but I can't think of a funny name for them.

Binky's Baked Bologna sounds amazing!
LadyOfTheLord
I think there should be recipes for Gus' alias names like Doughnut Hole(stein) and Ovaltine (which is a drink mix, I believe) Jenkins.
DoggyDoc65
This is turning out better than I had hoped. Everyone's ideas have been terrific! Keep 'em coming.

Very nice. I hope you don't mind, but I tweaked it slightly and named it the Black Magic Ham so that it could go under Gus' Alias Appetizers (Although I have no idea who would want to eat exactly 1/2 of an 11-pound black forest ham as an APPETIZER and still want to go for the main course and dare I say dessert!) biggrin.gif

Thanks! biggrin.gif Yeah... I doubt I would go for other food after 5.5 pounds of meat.
Oh, and how about Bananas? Or, Banana Pudding? (A Delicious Pudding)

Yes I have been trying to think of a catchy title for a dish concerning banana pudding in reference to the Spelling Bee Episode. I was thinking along the lines of Anna's Banana Delicious Pudding (It pairs well when listening to Venus by Bananarama)

What do you think?

Under Henry's section, I'll suggest

Pot Roast (He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not....)
Marinated Rib-eyes, Corn on the Cob and Peach Cobbler (American Duos)
Cucumber Sandwiches (Ghosts)
Fat-free Grilled Cheese Sandwiches (High Noon-ish)

And for Shawn, don't forget
Crab Cakes with Dill and Corriander, garnished with Strawberries, YUM (Talk Derby to Me)

Excellent additions. I am wondering if I should try to start referencing the episode in each dish title like you just did with these in order to make them easier to look them up...What do you think?

I think that often the context for the food is important, like the Fries Quatro Queso Dos Fritos from Truer Lies.
You know, where they inject potatoes with a four cheese mixture, fry them three quarters of the way,
pull them out, batter them, fry them again and then serve them with bacon and an ancho-chili sour cream?
I think Shawn and Gus only took the case because they wanted to see if those things were real. happy.gif

Oh, you know that's right!

Ok, I will start adding in the episode to go with the dish. I'll do that tomorrow though since it's late and I have got to study. Thanks for the input!

DoggyDoc65
Can anyone help me reference the dishes at the top which are NOT in bold?

Those are the ones that have not been paired with their episodes yet. I don't have a lot of time right now to go back and find them so if anyone remembers the episode, just let me know thanks.

If not, I will get to their references the next chance I get.

Also, remember if you can think of any dishes that might not necessarily be a reference to a specific episode those are welcome as well. I added Goulash by Gus and Madeline's Tender Loin to the mix, neither of which are actually a reference to something said in the show.
DoggyDoc65
My newest additions...

Black and Tan Bruschi (Black and Tan: A Crime of Fashion...a mixture of Shawn's favorite dark porter and Gus' favorite pale ale to rival the perfect partnership of the Shawn (Black) and Gus (Tan) male models)

Crazy Pineapple Platter (There's Something About Mira...The perfect finger food choice for a wedding)

Harbor Grill Nachos (There's Something About Mira...Only found at the nicest restaurant in Santa Barbara)

Mira Gaffney Goldschlager Shot (There's Something About Mira...One round of this stuff and you will probably be married the next day having used a goat as your best man)

Pineapple-flavored Jellybeans (Rob-a-Bye Baby...They're NOT a good idea to mix with popcorn-flavored jellybeans)
Kireijo
Three new suggestions:
Molten Lava Chicken (Bollywood Homicide)
Pumpkin Pancakes (with or without a side of Lingcod) (An Evening with Mr. Yang)
And this may be a little twisted but how about...
Bianca's Toast

Jell-O Cake (Ghosts - Gus asks Shawn if his mom can make Jell-O Cake)

Terrific addtions! There were a couple in which I couldn't remember the episode title...

Side note: I didn't know what a menudo was so I put it in the Anything Goes Section. Then I looked it up and realized it was a soup! It was adjusted accordingly on the big list.

Please keep sending in ideas. I have to study mad.gif but will update more of the master list tomorrow biggrin.gif

That is a good point about the tacos. And since Shawn and Gus love tacos of every variety I came up with Todos Tacos Del Mundo. What do you think?

Do you remember the conversation between Shawn and Gus when they were discussing burritos and Shawn mentioned how "Everyone knows that the taco has assimilated Gus, but the burrito still stands alone." I can't remember which episode that was...I would love to use that one as a reference eppy for this dish.

I can't place the Risotto reference either. It sounds so familiar but I've got nothing right now (I've been reading about antibiotics for like 4 hours blink.gif ). Could you elaborate on the episode and situation? Thanks for the additions!

I can't remember right now either. It's too late for me to think clearly! I would think though between the two of us and all the other fans we can figure this out. If anyone knows it feel free to help us out. Good addition nonetheless. Thanks!

As far as my newest additions...

Spudd Nelson!!!!! (I'm going to reference Murder?...Anyone?...Bueller?, but we all know there are plenty of Judd Nelson references in other episodes. Of course I will be changing the eppy reference once Judd has made his appearance in the second half of the season! Cannot wait for that.)

I like it better too and I'm not surprised that I didn't know about it. Sadly, I have never used Twitter. But that has inspired me for another dish title...Tweet Peas (He Dead...
"Shawn: I’m receiving a psychic transmission from your husband. It’s really more of a voicemail if I’m being honest, a status update, perhaps a Twitter.
Gus: I believe it’s called a Tweet.
Shawn: There’s no way I’m saying that.")

THANK YOU for letting me know.

I would like to thank everyone who has participated in the cookbook so far.

There is a great list going, and I hope it continues.

However, I will be slowing WAY down on updating the master list. I realized this morning that I have spent TOO much time on the message boards, and I have to focus on vet school.

Please keep sending in ideas and I will update the big list, hopefully once or twice a week.

Thanks again!

That's okay! Good luck with your school! C-=

Yes good luck with school and thank you for making this thread!

And I'm glad you like "Boy Gets Capped". biggrin.gif LOL I need to make a t-shirt of that too! LOL!!

And more for the recipe file:

Sweet Baby O.J. - from Lassie Did a Bad Bad Thing - "Sweet Baby J". Freshly squeezed orange juice with a hit of sweet Canada Dry Ginger Ale.

Lassie's Irish Stew - play on Lassie's name and From Earth to Starbucks when Shawn said Lassie had a strong Irish hairline (or something of that nature). A manly stew so think it would give you sternum bush.

Dutch the Clutch Daredeviled Eggs - play on Daredevil dude's name Dutch the Clutch (I love Jeff Fahey. He certainly got burly in his mature age. smile.gif ) These eggs are so spicy that it will make your head explode. Then they will put you out so you can eat another one and explode one mo' gain. wink.gif

Hmm...I need to start thinking of cocktails to go with the main dishes *BTC puts hand to temple* I'm sensing....Bailey's Irish Cream...

Ojai Peach Pie (65 Million Years Off)

Wild Mushroom Risotto, Deathcap-free (Meat is Murder...)

And from Lights, Camera, Homicidio
-Potato Latkes
-Pinapple Peking Dumplings
-Red Velvet Cupcakes
-Thanksgiving Sandwich (turkey with stuffing and cranberry, it's like Thanksgiving between two slices of bread)

Kinda sorta off topic but still cooking related, I wish they would post an instructional video of how to cut a pineapple- starring Shawn Spencer smile.gif

Hey, lots of Psych related recipes would require pineapple as an ingredient. We should know how to cut it up first!

I think that it fits quite well into the whole spectrum of this topic. I put it in its own category at the end of the big list. Thanks for the idea!

So...I have updated everyone's additions and will try to do that again sometime at the end of the week. Keep sending in dishes or update me on the ones I have not cited the episode on (They are the ones on the list that are not in bold. Not too many of them so they might be tricky to see sometimes).

Thanks again for the ideas and let's just keep on having fun with this!

I found this huge picture of Shawn's crazy Hawaiian pineapple shirt from
And Down the Stretch Comes Murder. On it there's a list of drinks. happy.gif

Mai Tai * Blue Hawaiian
Catamaran * Chi Chi
Scorpion * Zombie
Hawaiian Cooler
Queen's Delight
Planter's Punch

I just looked up the recipe for a Chi Chi and it looks like something Shawn would adore. I might like to try it too.
Ingredients:
4 oz. fresh pineapple juice
3 tbs. tequilla
1.5 tbs grenadine
1 tbs orange liqueur
juice of 1 lemon wedge
crushed ice
Preparation:
Mix all of the ingredients except the grenadine. Pour into a glass. Slowly add the grenadine and allow it to settle. Serve with a slice of pineapple.
