As much as I love ncis and I do mean love.... this new season seems to have something missing. I just can't seem to put my finger on it. I still like to watch it, it just seems a little different. Is there anybody else that feels the same or is it just me?
ziva2
I think there's like a little less action or something...
KellyK
I still think it's the best thing on TV...
ziva2

I think there is less crime solving... and more playing catch up. - perhaps that's what it is?
purplerain0405
I think there's so much tension, and catching up as Reitran said, that *I* personally feel like it's almost like trying to force the opposite sides of magnets together. I think now that Ziva is back on the team things will go back to a somewhat "normal" feel.

I hope so. - I still think we're gonna see some problems with Ziva pop up though.

I'm sure it's not over. I'm thinking that these first episodes were sorta rushed and everything crammed in together so they can get the story told and move on. Lets face it, noone wanted that part of the storyline to drag on much longer. I'm sure Eli and his minions will be rearing their ugly heads from time to time. I'm thinking the next part of the storyline will be Ziva getting citizenship. Will they be able to fast track it or will she have to get married or will it be a non-issue? I only bring it up because it was already brought up on the show.

Would she need to be married before getting a US citizenship, since she works for the government? So, Ziva's the probie now!

No, if she were to marry a US citizen she would instantly become a citizen. There was some initial question (Gibbs, I think) that she'd have to be a citizen to be an agent, but since it was approved anyway perhaps there was a loophole or maybe a promise of getting her citizenship. Not sure how all that works and/or how much it would differ from reality.

wasn't she already an agent before. I must have missed something. How was she working for ncis if she wasn't a citizen.... thats a goverment or state job. I guess that television for ya!!!

The way I understood it was that she was working with NCIS but as a Mossad Agent (kind of like a liaison) rather than an NCIS agent. This time she is going to be an NCIS agent and won't be required to report back to or work for Mossad at all. Somebody else might be able to explain it better since I haven't been watching from the very beginning though.

Even as a Mossad agent, she would have to have clearance thru the government, right?
KellyK
I would think that our government can work with any ambassador or liaison from any country, or even with the FBI or CIA of this country, that they want to but I don't know anything about the actual paperwork part of things or how they would get clearance for a mission and such.

She *was* Officer David of the Israeli Mossad. She worked extensively with Jenny who brought her in as a liason officer. Recall the last episode of season 5, after Jenny's funeral they were called into Vance's office and he told Ziva that the Liason position with NCIS had been terminated. So it was a liason position. I think all that's required there is director's approval. What he had to do to make her a full agent, I don't know. Was he able to make the call himself or did he have to involve the SecNav? Maybe we'll learn more as the season progresses, or maybe that's the end of this part of the story.

It's just interesting to figure all their slang out, like BOLO, I didn't know what that meant until Tony or McGee said it meant be on the lookout. unsure.gif

And don't forget when they had to look up a TFOA report. Things Falling Off Aircraft

There's lots of abbreviations....

BOLO-Be On The Look Out
TFOA-Things Falling Off Aircraft
E.D.-Emergency Detention
P.O.-Protective Order
EPO-Emergency Protective Order
Local LEO's-Local Law Enforcement Officers
PI-Public Intox (or Private Investigator)
DOA-Dead On Arrival
LKA-Last Known Address
UTL-Unable To Locate
APB-All Points Bulletin (which has pretty much been replaced with BOLO)

These are the one's I mainly used when I worked for the Sheriff's Department. I think my hubby still uses them and more. I found a thing on Wiki if you want to see more.

Who knows we will all see...I just can't wait till next tuesday now..........I think vance is acting a little Diffrent in this season I have the feeling like he thinks Ziva's dad is up to something and is playing up to him to get info what do you all think ?smile.gif

lol - hey, they DID make a reference to that movie in the series! wink.gif
nypdretired
I think that the series is now getting back to its procedural roots. The crime of the week instead of chasing international felons. Now that NCIS: LA is on they are letting that show do all the "action" stuff. So now TPTB are swinging the showback to solving crimes they are, can I say "re-introducing" the charactors. There will be an upcoming show where we see Gibbs house, and I don't mean the basement, I mean his living room.
