I read alot of Fanfiction (Hypothetical stories, that fans write about the show) about NCIS. And everytime I do, I always look for his name first:

EXACTLY!!
I mean, I know he said in one episode, that his parents weren't his biggest fans. Considering his mother died when he was 10 (I don't know what their relationship was like), and his father disowned him when he was 12 (I could only guess what their relationshp was like). It's like they wanted to set him up for the way he acts. (Not that I have a problem with the way he acts) BUT COME ON!!
Still don't see it? Just look at his name, look at Tony:
Tony DiNozzo... no.
Anthony DiNozzo... nope.
Anthony D. Dinozzo, Bingo!
Do you see it now? Anthony D. DiNozzo... His intials are A.D.D.!! ADD!! ( It's like they wanted him to never have a taste of calmness or normalcy)
ADD- for all of you who don't know, is an acronym. It stands for Attention Deficit Disorder. (They have issues paying attention for long periods of time, and times when they just say whatever comes to their minds) (Good friend with ADHD) But that's a completely different story altogether.
Now, I know that there are litterally hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people with those initials. But you have to admit that there is no other person, on the whole entire earth, that fits with that name like he does. He was born to be the crazy, funny, sparatic, trouble-making, goofball that we all know and love.
ADD... Wonder what the middle D stands for... I looked it up, but nobody knows. I think the fanfic writers just came up with it, cause most of them use the same initials.

Anyway, thanks for reading!Well as much as I love Tony I never really paid attention to his intials lol glad you pointed it out ...Yeah it really does fit him would explain why he jumps to one subject to another and all that ..My nephew is add I never noticed it in Tony lol
