Hi everyone,
Hope you have all been doing well, and for all of you Canadians out there, Happy Thanksgiving!
sad.gif My dear dad passed away in September, so it has been hard helping mom and doing all of the crazy paperwork and stuff. He was the greatest and I was so lucky to have my dad around for my 53 years - truly a blessing.
If your folks are nearby, give them a hug.......

Looking forward to catching up with all of you on all of the latest BN news, and don't forget to join the Chuck Finley appreciation group on Facebook - love to see you there!

Peace

May your dad continue to watch over you and your mom from the freedom of the spirit world. He is not gone, just on to the next journey for him. Let him rest for a time there, he will show up again when the time is right. You will hear him in the wind, see him in the nature around you and feel him beside you. Use this to comfort you at this time. Look to the west, home of the setting sun, for courage and energy.

My best to you and your family

Thanks to all of you for the very kind words and thoughts. I really miss dad as I was very close to both of my parents and saw them several times a week. Dad had an amazing life - WWII pilot, self-made business man, super grandpa - his passing was unexpected, so I still think he is going to pop around a corner somewhere. Hopefully soon there will be more smiles and happy memories instead of the emptiness that is so present right now.

Hugs to everyone, and thanks for chatting with me on this topic - that really helps to know I have some great BN friends who care.

bcmom - lovely sentiments, thank you.

SusieQ,

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. My dad passed away a while back (2002) but I think of him everyday. Like your father, my dad was a WWII veteran, 82nd airborne and jumped in the D-Day invasion. Although it was 7 years ago, I have his watch in my kitchen and the alarm he set to remind him to take his medication still goes off every day at 1:30pm. The battery is getting weak and the alarm is getting fainter but it's still working after all this time. I'll probably get a new battery for it because I like hearing it and I say "hi, daddy" everytime it beeps.

I'm glad you're back.

Loss is always hard to take, and you are right that each of us should give those we love just an extra hug. Both my parents have been gone a while now, but there is always an empty place. Time smooths the sharp edges and the good memories soften the aches, and most of all friends share the pain and help us move forward in life again.

I have a few things of his that mom gave me, like the pen I gave him a few years ago, and a little toy dog I gave him when I was quite young and that he kept on his nightstand all of these years. She also gave me a hand puppet he had as a child and was sitting in his sock drawer all these years. I took it home and made a little bed in a basket for it and put it on my dresser so it could be out in the light instead of tucked away. It's funny how these little things can become so important and make us feel close to those gone away.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad passed away. My parents Mom & Dad both passed away same time & same day. It was Seven years and 9 months ago. Amazing! They keep together forever, never divorced, still keeping together same time passed away & re-born in Heaven. I think It's best way to let both of them go up in Heaven same time. Because I don't like to see my mom hurting when My Dad passed away. I'm okay, still alone.
Hey Dear friend, I believe your Dad is watching over you everyday, and take care of your Mom. You still have your Dad's heart inside your heart. I meant You have your Dad's heart and your Mom's heart equal two in one heart inside you. Your Dad is very happy for you every day. I still have my Dad & Mom's heart inside my heart biggrin.gif ., too! Keep Smiling... smile.gif
God Bless you!
Take Care.

SusieQ, I'm sorry this is so late - I haven't been on the public side of the board very much as of late and missed this. I want to extend my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your father. I hope things are going alright with you during this time of mourning. Thinking of you...

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts. It's been tough looking after mom as well as my own family, but I guess that's what happens. I sure miss him - he was the greatest - I still can't believe he's gone.

I'm thankful for such nice friends - I appreciate your kindness. smile.gif
