It's driving me crazy. He's been mentioned several times throughout the Psych series, but I don't think we've actually ever met him. Does anybody know who Dobson is? Screencaps, anybody?

kinda like the "ugly naked guy" idea from Friends series (although at one episode he was revealed but the audience never got to see his face)

They need to have an episode in which Dobson plays a major role. It would be awesome.

Dobson is just some officer Lassiter picks on when McNab is busy, ask me. Lassie tends to say things like, "Where is Dobson?" "Dobson!" "Dobson brought it in."
Ever notice no one else ever mentions him but Lassiter? Actually, for all we know Dobson is a girl. Who knows?

I think Lassie called Dobson a "he" once, but I can't be sure.

I don't think I can take much more of the invisible-Dobsonness. I think it's going make me even more crazy than the Shules shipping. They really need to have an episode like, "Elementary, My Dear Dobson!"

Actually THE original "invisible character" that's mentioned but never TRULY seen is giant lab tech AL on Naked Gun and Police Squad. He's so tall you always see him from chest down, you never see his face.

I was thinking about having an episode with Dobson and actually showing him, but that's an even better idea. That makes me want to write yet another script. lol

Well, I just watched The Naked Gun, and at first, it wasn't my kind of humor, but from when Frank stepped off the airplane till the end of the movie, it was absolutely hilarious. Thanks for recommending such an awesome movie.

I watched Zero to Murder in Sixty Seconds the other day and the scene right after Lassie discovers his car has been stolen, where he's greeting a number of officers to make it seem like nothing is wrong, he does greet Dobson... so that narrows it down to about 3 or 4 guys that were standing around at that time and appeared to respond in kind.

Didn't he say Dobson in just a general direction?

In the general direction of the few officers there, not at someone off screen. At least it appeared that way based on his nods and brief eye contact... always worth another look.

You know I've been wondering the same thing? The next time we fans have an opportunity to ask questions, I don't care if it's an episode based question prompt, I'm asking who the heck Dobson is. He's like Niles' wife Maris on Frasier: we know they exist but we've never seen them. Ugh, now I know I'm going to be scanning my DVDs for a glimpse or a hint.

Also in Earth, Wind, and Wait for It when chief vick told lassie that they were able to locate bodie lambert in a hotel, lassie called dobson and dobson actually replied "Sir?", so here dobson has a speaking part. but again he wasn't shown on camera...i was thinking that he was one of the two guys at the back in the next scene where they were trying to catch lambert.

ooh! Nice catch! will have to watch that again some time and compare the guys shown there to the ones in Zero to Murder... unless someone wants to offer screen caps for us?

I was just watching Christmas Joy, and when lassie is hitting on joy shawn walks up and tells lassie that he thinks dobson is calling him. never noticed it before this thread started

I'll see if I can get on that tomorrow after class and work. Because my interest is severely piqued right now.

I'm almost positive that Dobson is the colored male officer. In Zero To Murder in sixty seconds, Lassiter says hi to him, and the officer waived hi back. Also someone mentioned Earth Wind and wait for it.. that Dobson went to the hotel room with them, and the same officer was at the hotel.

I think Dobson is just an unseen character, kind of like Mrs. Columbo. Someone to referenced when needed, but ever actually seen. I think when we see Dobson, we'll that's the end of the show.

Or like how we never saw Wilson's face in Home Improvement? I loved the ways that his face would be hidden, Lol. Then after the last episode all the actors/actresses walked out and we finally saw his face.

I just watched that too! and i definitely noticed the dobson line because i had read this thread.. now im really curious who he is
