In protest of Goren and Eames departure on Law and Order Criminal Intent...

The removal of these characters will be the end of Criminal Intent for me. When they leave. I leave. Goren and Eames have held the show up for 8 long years with over 130 episodes done by each. Thats at least twice more than any other character on Criminal Intent. (Apart from Deakins! Who came in with approx 110 episodes smile.gif)

They are the definition of character. Goren, who shares some of the same traits of, arguably, the most brilliant character of the time, Sherlock Holmes. Goren is the reason many people have continued watching this brilliant show. Vincent D'onofrio portrays this character brilliantly, he was made for this role. Vincent D'onofrio and Kathryn Erbe have been completely under-rated as actors. Kathryn Erbe is brilliant, her character Eames is everything you would want in a character.

For the fans that have stood by these characters for the last 8 years, i applaud you. There is not many people who see the remarkable talent this show has and the brilliance that is Goren and Eames. We have stood by and took criticism, took cast changes, took writers changes, took network changes and everything else. But we are still here.

For me, this will be the last straw. Without Goren and Eames i will not continue to watch. There is nothing left.

Goren and Eames started this show and they should have been the ones to finish it!

So for me, when Goren and Eames leave. Its the end of Criminal Intent.

If there are any others that share my view...Fire Away!

Thank you for starting this thread, SecretPhoenix. I haven't been able to comment or keep up as much as I want to the last few days because of work. But I must say that I have NEVER seen so many people register accounts here on the forum with the purpose of saying one thing and one thing only: When Goren and Eames leave, I leave too.

I think Dick Wolf and USA have underestimated the loyalty of the fans. Dick Wolf has said that the fans care more about the crimes than about the characters. Never have you been more wrong, Mr. Wolf! The fans of THIS show care about watching the characters who have fascinated and intrigued us for 8 years solving the crimes.

There is a thread on the LOCI board dedicated to saving our CHARACTERS, with addresses and e-mail addresses for sending our protests at this horrible, disasterous decision. I encourage everyone who is interested in saving 3 USA CHARACTERS to join the campaign.

Yes, television is a business but in my career I have often seen instances when cost-cutting turned into a really expensive decision. Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathyrn Erbe are the reasons for LOCI's success and the wellspring of revenue for this still very profitable series.

Moreover Vincent D'Onofrio fans are not the fringe but the core of the LOCI audience. Loyalty is to him, not to the show itself. It seems preposterous that NBCU/USA senior executives are isolated from this fact. Perhaps they have become too besotted with their own press releases and stories of success to understand that they have crossed the line with these firings.

Personally I am boycotting the new USA series "White Collar" in protest of the devastation done to LOCI. I plan to use the Internet to get other fans to do the same. All the favorable promotion and publicity USA network has purchased or gained with the "Characters Welcome" campaign is over for me. Apparently not all characters are welcome, nor all audiences appreciated.

I will no longer watch Criminal Intent once Goren and Eames leave. I
can't believe the lack of respect USA/NBC has shown it's fans and actors
of this show. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!

As are many others - I am less than happy with the changes to the cast for Season 9.

If Goren & Eames aren't in S9....I won't be watching.

Everyone complains that TV viewing is done, that television can't compete with the internet. Well, this would be why. TV has become a vast wasteland of "reality" TV with a little teen drama and fluffy stupid nothings...a vast wasteland of CRAP - one giant, stupid, pile of Jerry Springer-ish entertainment.

No thanks.

Not only have you lost viewers for your Law and Order Criminal Intent 2.0 - but I will be avoiding all USA/NBC shows.

"End Game".

This is a joke right??

Did these actors get canned by USA?

Did these actors leave on there own?

I'm a big L&O:CI fan. However, I do think last year it seemed like the entire cast was sleep walking through the shows, maybe because the writing was so bad I don't know.

It seems like Vince would rather walk away than be a whore.

Just another sad end to a great show from the scum at NBC/USA
KellyK
I only watch Law & Order: Criminal Intent for the characters of Goren & Eames played by Vincent D' Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe. I will not be watching the show anymore. You can get "stories" and "crimes" on any other drama show on television today from any network but you cannot get the entertainment value from the fine performances of these actors anywhere. If Dick Wolf or USA is to have any further success from this show it will not be from me. I wish even greater success and happiness to Vincent D' Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe and hope they will be fully appreciated in their future endeavors.

BURN NOTICE, BREAKING BAD, MAD MEN, CRIMINAL MINDS, CASTLE, COLD CASE is all that's left.

Law & Order was made into a political left show

Law & Order SVU, I sure will be f-upped soon

Not a good time to be a tv fan

I started watching Law and Order: Criminal Intent this year and it was not because of Jeff Goldblum. I watched because the characters of Goren and Eames were so intriguing and full of life. I have come to feel, like most of the fans, having gone back and watched most of the espisodes from seasons 1-8 that the characters of Goren and Eames are indeed the heart of the show. Most people associate Criminal Intent with Vincent D'Onofrio. Without him and without Kathyrn Erbe, Criminal Intent will just be a shell-without its heart and I, as well as many other fans, will not be watching.

You might as well change the name of the show It won't be CI anymore.
What..........Jeff G does 8 episodes and now your gonna center the show
around him????? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! mad.gif

I cannot stand for the departures of Mr. D'onofrio, Ms. Erbe, and Mr. Bogosian from Criminal Intent! I have only been watching the show for 3 years and am now totally hooked on Goren and Eames! I have now seen every episode too many times to count, as have most of us here. There is no justification for these superb actors being let go from this show! Goren and Eames ARE the show! There is no Criminal Intent without them! I want to see Goren and Eames continue their personal journeys for at least another full season! Give us viewers and these actors the consideration to end their stories in style. Without Goren and Eames, I will NOT be lending my support to USA!!!

I am a longtime viewer of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and a loyal fan of the show, and of it's lead character Robert Goren. To say that all of the Law & Order shows are only about the "stories" is preposterous! The original series has always been procedural and story driven. The revolving door works on that show because it was never written around one central character. Criminal Intent is very different. It was written around Detective Robert Goren - a Sherlock Holmes type detective with eccentricities and a headful of knowledge that has earned him quite a reputation, and in recent years prompted a t-shirt to be marketed with the slogan "Goren Knows Everything". Detective Alexandra Eames is not only his perfect foil, she has now become his staunchest supporter and most loyal friend. This show IS character driven, Mr. Wolf. You, of all people, should know that and be able to say so instead of towing the network's company line. I have thought much more of you than that, and I'm very disappointed in you now.

In addition, here is a copy of the email I sent to Bonnie Hammer at the USA Network. We are getting the word out via email, postcards via the USPS, and some are making phone calls as well. WE WILL NOT BE IGNORED!

Dear Ms. Hammer,

I am writing this email to express my sincere disappointment and displeasure with the USA network in their handling of my favorite show, Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe have worked tirelessly over the last eight seasons to bring us a well-acted, captivating show. Eric Bogosian stepped into the role vacated by Jamey Sheridan and won over a decidedly skeptical audience. All three deserve much more respect than they have received from your network.

It is Vincent's portrayal of Bobby Goren that has captured me and held me all these years. I have watched Bobby's evolution from the smart, slightly neurotic, slightly eccentric detective who seemed to have it all together to the smart, slightly neurotic, slightly eccentric detective who definitely did not have it all together. His descent into despair, and the subsequent slow, torturous climb out of that pit has been a joy to watch. I want more of it.

I want USA to give Criminal Intent, it's lead characters, and the actors who made the show a success the respect they are due. Vincent and Kathryn have given their all to the show for eight seasons. Eric has done so for the last three. Pushing them out this way will not only ruin the show, but it will cause the majority of us loyal viewers to stop watching. We have been steadfast through changes which included the splitting of duties, which brought about the addition of a second team of detectives, the writer's strike which caused a huge gap in the airing of Season 7, the long, long wait for Season 8, and the terrible travesty that was the episodes being aired out of order. That order mix-up caused Vincent's brilliant portrayal of Bobby Goren's recovery to get lost in the shuffle, which is a shame because he did it so beautifully.

And yet, here we are still, holding to our beloved show. But now that Vincent and Kathryn will no longer be there, neither will I. I am sorry to say this, but that is the honest truth. I would ask you respectfully to reconsider this decision. Give us Goren and Eames back for a full Season 9. Even if Season 9 would be the last one of the show's run, it would be a much more fitting end to give the show and its characters the proper send off they deserve. Cutting Goren out after the season opener is a shoddy way to handle such a beloved character. I would urge you to rethink this decision.

Thank you very much for your time.

TJara
I came on late onto LOCI, but there's no question that Robert Goren & Alex Eames are the heart of the show. I always enjoy the other teams a lot, too, but I feels like being betrayed to have the heart of the show cut out, so I'll be following them out the door. This is no way to treat a show and the actors.
MSartistics
Characters not welcome

Goren and Eames are LOCI. Sorry USA but are you stupid? Your ratings are going to plumet to the ground. Without them their is no show. Like many of my fellow LOCI fans when Goren and Eames leave we're all going to.
Judyg
My turn to add my displeasure with USA over the insane decision to fire Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian. Talk about a financial pitfall. Without Mr. D'Onofrio and Ms. Erbe there is NO LOCI. Goren and Eames are the heart of this show and to allow them to leave (or force them to go) is a death knell for this show.

Lighter and fluffier for Mr. Goldblum is all well and good, but give him his OWN show - L & O: Major Case possibly. But Law & Order: Criminal Intent is GOREN & EAMES as it has been from day one and without them USA has alienated a vast majority of fans. I will not watch any USA programming once this supposed 'transition' takes place.

These wonderful actors have been loyal to LOCI, USA and the fans. The fans will now be loyal to the actors and the characters they portray by leaving USA to sink and LOCI to be cancelled. It's sad that USA doesn't seem to remember what loyalty is and it certainly is showing a great lack of respect to the actors and fans alike. That is not a way to win friends and influence people - it's suicide for a once fascinating television show.

USA - what were you thinking when you allowed this to happen??? Or, actually my question should be: USA WERE YOU THINKING AT ALL?
LifeBoat
USA is just a whore for NBC, maybe Jay Leno will be on L&O,CI!

F'n SAD!!!!!!!!

Vince has too much class for this network now!

USA you're killing the show that I love, and I refuse to watch its death/metamorphosis/whatever. So I'm leaving with Goren & Eames... Unless you reconsider...

Even Conan Doyle had to reconsider and bring back Sherlock Holmes... THINK ABOUT IT USA

NBC UNIVERSAL- Are you reading our posts?
Pay Vincent D'Nofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian what they want, cutting their pay by half is insulting!

We fans aren't interested in "fluff" fans of Criminal Intent want procedral drama starring our favorite actors and the characters they have so artfully brought to life

I'm gone when Goren and Eames leave. They are what drew me to the show and I've got no reason to stay. I guess characters aren't welcome on USA.

Thank you to Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe for the near decade of entertainment. You are the best!

As you can read USA, all the member's of our LOCI board are furious, and they have reason to be! By letting LOCI, Goren&Eames go, who made the show famous, Mr. Wolf, and lot's of money in your bank account, is absolutely ridiculous. I'm sure all the big wigs could care less, but for once, put yourselves in our shoes, oh, you're too busy running to the bank! I would bet if you let this happen, USA is in the toilet, where they deserve to be, IMO. It's the fans that watch USA, and to dismiss one of the top shows as LOCI, Goren&Eames will be a disaster for the USA channel, and you! So take that to the bank as well. No disrespect to you Mr. Goldblum, but the people you work for are crooks!

I understand the economy is making it difficult to spread money around at the same rate we all did five years ago. But that is no excuse for what USA has done to this gem of show, left in it's charge by NBC. Season 8 was less than stellar about 75% of the time. Not due to the addition of Jeff Goldblum, but due to inconsistant and occasionally poor writing, episodes shown out of order, and an overall push of this show to the back of the USA network bus.

No offense meant to Mr. Goldblum whatsoever, but cancel Law and Order CI now! It is an insult to the long time viewers, and to the cast, and to the crew of this show to try to ramble on in a car with one good wheel and no functioning engine. USA, you have to know inevitably, without Erbe and D'Onofrio, the ratings will plummet and the show will die a long, slow, embarrassing death. So either find a way to keep them and get some decent writers and stories to make it worth their while, or can the show completely.
ciaddict
My TV is tuned to USA more than any other network. More than all other networks together. Psych is, IMO, the funniest show on TV...and it's the only comedy I even watch (except for reruns of old favorites). Because of Psych and LOCI, I have left USA on more and more of the time. Because of that, I've been introduced to shows I never watched before; Jag, NCIS, House, Monk. Burn Notice and In Plain Sight have become favorites of both my teenage daughter and myself. Add in SVU reruns and Royal Pains (not great, but entertaining), and I have become pretty much all USA all the time.

Turning USA off would be extremely difficult for me. But if this is how they treat the stars who have made LOCI the show it is and the fans who have loved them, what will stop them from doing it to others? Maybe James Roday and Dulé Hill will become too expensive and Psych will get new leads. Maybe Jeffrey Donovan and Gabrielle Anwar will be replaced on Burn Notice with "less dark" characters. Sound ridiculous? No more so than eliminating Goren and Eames from LOCI. Dick Wolf thinks we care more about the crimes than the characters? Mr. Wolf...have you seen LOCI?

I see threads asking for Life or The Unit to be brought to USA. However, after seeing what they are doing to LOCI and all the articles about how Bonnie Hammer wants "blue skies" from USA shows...I don't see why any dedicated fan would want USA within a thousand miles of such great shows!

It is clear that USA is determined to destroy a once compelling and intelligent show. Removing Goren (around whom the show was originally written) and Eames (world's best partner) and Ross (a captain who earned my respect after taking over from popular and likable Deakins), and moving the direction of the show to "lighter" fare shows nothing but contempt for the fans who made this one of the most popular shows on cable. THIS fan won't stick around to watch the disaster that will be left.
