I've been dropping in other fan sites all day and I just saw this posted in Criminal Intent-US. I think this poster (annabellelleigh) is considered some kind of insider. Here's the cut & paste.

I think this is definitely worth a try. I'm going to buy a whole lot of postcards and stamps tomorrow.

WHO here isn't ready to give up???!!!

Ms. S

Though the Nielsen ratings will be the true test, I say that those who want to send a message to key NBCU executives should do so. In fact I urge you to write, for yourselves as well as the actors. If enough people (and that is, thousands) take immediate action I don't think the effort will be wasted.

Snail mail address:

I suggest a short, well-composed postcard (or multiple postcards) rather than letters. Clearly state your displeasure with the decision to dump Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe and your request that the decision be reversed. Three good, focused sentences will more likely be taken seriously than a lot of scribble. Try to stay polite. Don't make threats; don't say anything bad about Jeff Goldblum. Definitely spell and grammar check before sending; and write legibly (or use a printer).

A huge pile of postcards is likely to have more impact than e-mail but you can also try:

bonnie.hammer@nbcuni.com

You might also send the same message to her immediate USA subordinate Jeff Gaspin, same snail mail address, and jeff.gaspin@nbcuni.com.

And don't delay. Do it on Monday if not today. Also, if you post on other CI or VDO boards, you would do well to pass this information on ASAP. If Vincent D'Onofrio really has as many steadfast fans as everyone here thinks, a strong, grassroots effort should be fairly easy to mobilize.

Perhaps a graphics maker could design a goren and eames postcard that we can print and download put on sticker paper to decorate the cards with. EVen if they aren't all read, they will get the message when they see the picture.

We have to get this out there past this board and VDO blogs. I would suggest someone with the skills organizing something on twitter. If we need 'thousands' then we need to get this thing out to the masses. smile.gif

is anybody up for fundraising for a LOCI fan convention?

when we know what we want to say and maybe have the graphic, I can help spread the word. also, the fan fic writers might be able to help us by putting the information at the beginning of new chapters they do. From my experience, this is the time fans turn to fics and it would be an easy way to get the message out.

There are a couple of sites on facebook that I know about that might be able to help.

I would urge EVERYONE to take advantage of this info and write to Ms. Hammer personally. Keep it simple, like Annabelleleigh suggests, but definitely do it! We need to speak up for Vincent and Katie and Eric! We need to speak up for our show!

Here is what I have written:

I am completely dismayed with the recent news about Law & Order Criminal Intent.

Over the years I have been taken for a great ride - the fabulous evolution of Robert Goren. He began as a precocious puppy and matured through adversity to a dignified mature man, all incarnations brilliantly and subtly portrayed by Vincent D'Onofrio. Kathryn Erbe's Eames is his perfect fit. Yin to his Yang.

I don't believe their stories are finished and know there is a huge need for intelligent scripting, acting and production. To my delight, Criminal Intent has always filled that role.

I will mourn the loss of the Goren and Eames characters and celebrate the pleasure they have given me.

When they are gone from Criminal Intent, so am I.

Respectfully.........

I'm breaking out my good pen and will send off a message tomorrow.

SAVE Criminal Intent's Goren/Eames (With Captain Ross and Megan Wheeler if we can)

We can't forget Eric Bogosian and Julianne Nicholson with VDO and KE!

I searched my house and found 4 postcards. I am writing them out now and
will drop them off first thing in the morning.

Give us Goren/Eames or give us death!

Thank you for the contact information. I find it difficult to believe that any female with a pulse would be behind this decision, but Ms. Hammer will receive a post card from me nonetheless. Also from my 9-year-old daughter, who refers to VDO as "Mommy's cute detective."

Here's an idea for a short postcard message:

I am deeply saddened and upset by the news of the characters of Goren, Eames, and Ross leaving Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

I became a regular viewer of the USA Network watching this show, but with their departure I will be abandoning my support of this network.

Regretfully,

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Oh, and my 11 year old daughter is a big Eames fan. Strong women unite!

Just sent 'em in the mail.

11-year-old daughter wanted to write one, and she just learned "business letter writing" at school, so this was a "condense it to a postcard" learning experience (!)

Anybody have Dick Wolf's address?

Keep in mind, folks--a campaign just like this one is what kept the original Star Trek series on the air for its last season. It certainly can't hurt, and IMO, it will be indisputable proof of Vincent/Bobby's popularity with his devoted fans.

I think it would be cool if we all could write/email Vince, Katy, and Eric to lend our support and let them know how much they have meant to us. Anybody have their contact info? I would LOVE to do this! I am not sure who would have the contact info for the actors, but if there is a way, I do hope that one of us can figure it out. They supported the writer's during the strike. Now they should know that their fans are supporting them!

Look for them in Whitepages.com ? but maybe it's a bit too much...

I think some sort of official fan mail address or maybe their agents' addresses would be better

Okay y'all. I'm issuing a challenge to all regular members and all those lurkers who are hitting these threads in staggering numbers! Just check out the number of hits each of these threads has been getting...and how many new members have been added in just the last couple of days! We've got a lot of people reading, even if not all are posting!

Below I am going to post my email to Bonnie Hammer at USA. I also copied the same email to Jeff Gaspin and Jean Guerin at NBCU, substituting "USA" with "NBCU/USA". I urge everyone who reads this to take the time to email and to use the link that Quietfire posted to print out a postcard and mail it to Ms. Hammer at USA. (The link is in my sig, just below the picture of the postcard.) I've printed out four of them and I will post what I put on the postcard as well. Let's make our voices heard! Loud and clear!

My email to Ms. Hammer:

Dear Ms. Hammer,

I am writing this email to express my sincere disappointment and displeasure with the USA network in their handling of my favorite show, Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe have worked tirelessly over the last eight seasons to bring us a well-acted, captivating show. Eric Bogosian stepped into the role vacated by Jamey Sheridan and won over a decidedly skeptical audience. All three deserve much more respect than they have received from your network.

It is Vincent's portrayal of Bobby Goren that has captured me and held me all these years. I have watched Bobby's evolution from the smart, slightly neurotic, slightly eccentric detective who seemed to have it all together to the smart, slightly neurotic, slightly eccentric detective who definitely did not have it all together. His descent into despair, and the subsequent slow, torturous climb out of that pit has been a joy to watch. I want more of it.

I want USA to give Criminal Intent, it's lead characters, and the actors who made the show a success the respect they are due. Vincent and Kathryn have given their all to the show for eight seasons. Eric has done so for the last three. Pushing them out this way will not only ruin the show, but it will cause the majority of us loyal viewers to stop watching. We have been steadfast through changes which included the splitting of duties, which brought about the addition of a second team of detectives, the writer's strike which caused a huge gap in the airing of Season 7, the long, long wait for Season 8, and the terrible travesty that was the episodes being aired out of order. That order mix-up caused Vincent's brilliant portrayal of Bobby Goren's recovery to get lost in the shuffle, which is a shame because he did it so beautifully.

And yet, here we are still, holding to our beloved show. But now that Vincent and Kathryn will no longer be there, neither will I. I am sorry to say this, but that is the honest truth. I would ask you respectfully to reconsider this decision. Give us Goren and Eames back for a full Season 9. Even if Season 9 would be the last one of the show's run, it would be a much more fitting end to give the show and its characters the proper send off they deserve. Cutting Goren out after the season opener is a shoddy way to handle such a beloved character. I would urge you to rethink this decision.

Thank you very much for your time.

And here is the text of my postcard. Short and to the point.

Dear Ms. Hammer,

I respectfully urge you to reconsider your network's decision to oust Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian from the cast of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. I am sincerely disappointed and disillusioned by the treatment of these wonderful actors, and by the disrespectful way the founding characters of my beloved show are being treated.

I am not alone in this sentiment. If they go, you will lose a legion of loyal viewers, including me. Please reconsider. Thank you.

So are we certain that they were canned?

Its such a great thing to see and read the few dedicated fans on the net try and save the show, and original cast members. But as i look around this big wide net and read, its really about a few, not thousands or millions doing anything, others just reading the latest daily postings of the latest tragic news, on what was seen coming long ago. Im not sure who presumes to hold a starr on being an "insider" contact on boards ect on all that is VDO, KE, LOCI. What i do know is, that VDO has been ready to leave for a long time, he and KE, so no, they were not pushed, or sacked, having said that, he has many things outside of CI that he wants to do and is working on, a Vincent that will be happy in what he is doing!, and so much more Vincent to look forward to in the future!!

Jeff Goldblum was hired to bring some humor to LOCI, in a nice slow way, that is the direction of the show now, Eric Bogosian and Julianne Nicholson didnt fit into that light comic new look role though. I will be watching to see how Saffron Burrows and Jeff Goldblum work out in the new show, and of course to see if and when Bobby Goren "guest" spots, IF there is indeed a season Ten of LOCI. As Vincent will be there if needed to come on board, he has no problems with that.

Good luck to all fan`s lobbying to reverse the decision of LOCI as it will be seen, but sometimes things just are meant to be. I think the part i find hard to digest is the derogatory comments of the actor by "some" said fans over time, I also find it hard to read fan`s wanting something back that they really pulled to pieces over time. You really need only read the very personal comments on the actor, as an actor, as the character Bobby Goren and as a person over the last few seasons of LOCI, ( especially 7&8) now, the same people are shocked he is going, quite confusing really.!! Good luck to all true VDO, KE and LOCI fan`s in their endeavor to hold onto the show as it was!

globetrottersara
Yeah well... Don't keep your hopes too up, people. Personally, I don't think contacting them (in any form) will change anything. Besides, from the actors point of view, sticking with the same character for more than 10 years isn't usually a good thing for the career... I followed the show since ep. one, so don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I won't miss the show, and I certainly never bashed any character or cast member. But maybe we can all move on eventually, each of us in his/her own times... No rush smile.gif

I do understand the need to speak up, though, so if I can help you find contacts, I will.

I think that the e-mail and postcard-writing campaign is a great idea. It can't hurt, takes minimal time and effort, and we won't know if it will help unless we try. So I will be joining in. I also posted on the thread that SecretPhoenix started in the USA Character Lounge.

As for sending our thanks and best wishes to the actors, I've PM'd Admin to ask if there is a way to do that. I have also e-mailed VDOVault to ask if that is something she is still able to help us with. In the past we have started threads for people to post their birthday wishes for VDO and KE, and goodbyes to Chris Noth, and Vault was able to forward them to a writer-friend of hers to send on to the actors. I will let you know if and when I hear back about this.

Agreed. It's one thing to get one's hopes up, but it's a completely different thing to put a little bit of legwork behind it and try to make a difference. That way, at least we've tried, and TPTB will have heard from us. I for one do not want them to think they can treat us however they wish and we will just sit and take it. We took enough with the delay of the season and the out-of-order episodes.

Take a look at post #119 from gyang333 on the "Poll: For those Leaving with Goren/Eames" thread. There are over 2700 members on that facebook page alone, most of them fired up about this decision. You only need to spend a few minutes on a coffee break today doing this, and for less than the price of a Caramel Macchiato, you may end up changing some minds. Regardless of your political bent, sending in tea bags has changed some minds in Washington--it is possible to make a difference with a grass-roots movement, even for something as relatively inconsequential in the grand scheme of things as a TV show.

Twitter it. My cousins have agreed to help out, even though they are not rabid fans, because they know the show brightens my outlook. If they can do something as a gift to me to help me be happier, they are willing to spend 5 minutes on that. Call in a one-minute favor from someone willing to send a quick email. I am grateful I have such good friends.

Thank you to everyone who is helping spread the word!
globetrottersara
I did leave 2 messages on the facebook announcements USA sent out yesterday. It was just a few minutes after they had spread the news on their page and already more than 50 people had posted their discontent/disbelieve/shock/anger.A lot also wrote that not only they wouldn't keep watching the show, but they would boycott the network too.
Not sure TPTB will ever read all the comments, as they are really a lot, but I left my disappointed comments too.

Respectfully, we don't need your best wishes, we need you to particpate in this grassroots campaign. It's only at its very beginning and the bandwagon is just starting to fill up.

TV networks do reverse decisions, Change happens in any avenue but only when people believe that one individual plus another plus another can make a difference. History tells us it can.

Please get off the sidelines and pitch in. We need you.
