Visited the blogsite. Along with the TV honchos, has any thought been given to registering displeasure with the advertisers, directly? Nothing makes underwriters more nervous than losing an audience they think they are buying access.

OK, my fellow protesters, I need to talk to you about something. I have been just as energetic as many of you about bumping up our "protest threads" to keep them showing up on the home page. And I knew when the news first came out over a week ago that we would get a lot of new threads as people tried to deal with their grief and anger. So I didn't even try to merge similar threads as I usually do when new ones pop up that are duplicates.
Well, now we have been at this for over a week and it's no longer just about our grief and anger....we have coalesced into a movement to save our show. But not everyone shares our view or our passion. There are those who just want to accept it, move on, and continue to enjoy the show and the forum. And that's fine...it's as valid as our view that we should DO SOMETHING to prevent what we feel will be a disaster. I've been asked to merge some of the protest threads so that those who want to discuss other things don't feel so overwhelmed if they come here and see almost the whole first page devoted to the protest, and so that they don't have to search so hard for the fun threads they are looking for. I was disturbed to see someone on another thread say that she felt jumped on for expressing her opinion. I was one of the ones who responded to her and I don't think anyone intended to jump on her, but I don't want that perception out there...that the protesters are trying to take over the forum and don't tolerate other opinions. I think alienating other fans who may feel differently than we do is a mistake. We are all on this forum because we love this amazing show.
Sooo...it's difficult to know where to start in merging threads that are getting a lot of traffic (don't even get me started on the VDO threads!), but I think we should pare our protest threads down to...say....three? And I think we should keep our protest discussions on these threads (I think we do, mostly, anyway). If you guys agree, I could use some suggestions on where to start merging. This thread is probably the main one that people come to for information on the protest. And I think the contest thread should be separate. What about merging the "VDO is leaving", a couple about KE leaving, Rene Balcer's radio program could all be combined into one. There are a couple of threads urging lurkers to come out and join us...I think they could be merged into this thread. Maybe Unsteady's mourning thread could be merged with the poll about who is leaving and who is staying. Umm....I think that's still 4.
Any suggestions? I'm not sure if I can get to it before the weekend anyway. I go back to work tomorrow for 3 days (and really should be in bed already!). But if I can do it sooner, I will.

I say merge, I agree, everyone has their minds set at this point - the "leaving" threads seem more like a "dealing with the loss" thread when this one is more action! LOL

Merge away! I don't envy you that task!
I do have a concern about dissenting opinions, though. If I may be blunt...as I usually am...I think everyone concerned needs to remember not to be thin-skinned. It seems as though the vast majority of those that post here want to save the integrity of the show. We are refusing to watch without Goren and Eames.
However...that is not to say we are actually leaving this board. If Goren and Eames are gone, I'm done with CI - in the new season. I will most certainly not be done with previous seasons, my FF, or this board. I will be here for VDOtinis and episode discussions from the previous eight seasons. I will, obviously, not participate in S9 discussions if G/E are gone and I am not watching the show.
With that being said, I hope very much that I will get what I want from this campaign, which is a full Season 9 to say a proper goodbye to Goren and Eames and the show I love. Because we all know that without them, and with USA's "lighter fare", it will most definitely NOT be the same show anymore. In fact, there won't be a show anymore.
The thing is, I am trying to save the WHOLE show. To keep the CI we know and love intact. To keep USA from screwing it up by turning it into a smarmy retread of every other show on TV.
The fans who will continue to watch are missing something really important in all of this. If they change the formula of the show...the makeup of the cast...take away everything that sets CI apart as a raw, gritty show with layers upon layers of nuances to peel away each time you watch...well, then it's not Criminal Intent anymore. The ratings will plummet and the show will be gone anyway. And all those who thought they would have a show to stay with will find out that USA doesn't really care about them either.
It's why I keep saying that we should ALL stick together and fight for the whole show. It bothers me that this seems to have been lost...or misunderstood...or just ignored. Make of it what you will. But my goal here is not just for Goren and Eames and Ross - it is for the whole show! The Law & Order: Criminal Intent that I fell in love with. Not some cheap knock-off.
There are imitators and there are originators. Criminal Intent is the orginator that spawned dozens of imitators. If they change the show's "direction" in order to make it "fit in" with USA's "lighter fare", it simply becomes a sell-out imitation of its former self.
And that, my friends, ROYALLY STINKS!

I think overseas supporters will not be able to score as high as US supporters, unless they put themselves to send at least 1,000 emails daily, which is *a bit* time consuming, unless you are retired or unemployed and you have nothing else to do during the day.
I am overseas, I'd love to "save" the show. But I guess I will send you guys in the US all of my possible positive vibes. I don't have time to send tons of emails, nor can I afford printing and sending out tons of postcards from England. Not to mention the cases of fluff... (I don't even know if they sell fluff over here). Anyway, best of luck with your initiatives! I truly hope they work!!

ciaddict, feel free to merge the contest thread into the others. It's not getting a lot of traffic, and I think there is so much being done by folks only posting on this thread that I think they should be formally recognized too. The whole point of the contest thread is to motivate and encourage participation, so putting it here with the other participation/encouragement/activity update posts seems to be a good fit.

Okay...I MUST clean my house today and get off this computer but before I go...
I got out 4 emails to USA/NBC, sent three emails to media, one email to try to get listed as a show trying to be save on about.com, and one e-card to Jeff Watchel.
I hit about 10 sites to post all our links and will do some more of that after dinner tonight.
As for the negative comments we run into....what is it they say...no press is bad press!
My site is bought and paid for until next Oct. - I won't be taking it down regardless - I paid for it...its up until the term expires.
Okay...off to clean.

P.S. I am glad there are people here I can talk about this show with and not be made fun of like I do when I post things on MySpace/Facebook or mention it at work. Thanks, guys...and gals.
P.P.S Didn't realize there were more people to send postcards too. I sent them to Gaspin, Hammer, Wolf and to the address i send fan mail too...the Pier 62 address. I'll send postcards to the others too, real soon.

Okay...will hit this after dinner tonight. I tweeted....is anyone else tweeting? I can only get to USA and NBC...I am still blocked by bubbles... but I still go look at their page and they are really not appropriate with their responses. You don't just tweet back "we already released a statement" - you should say "thanks for your interest (link here to the statement) - really, are those like college interns running that or something???
Dealing with the public sucks and they suck at dealing with the public. Geez.

If anyone has a Twitter account I urge you to use it to connect with others to get as many people on board as possible. Also how about celebrities, they use Twitter and have massive followers. Go to their Twitter acconts and tell them about our fight to save the show as it should be, not the "Fluffy, Light" version being forced on us. It could work, it's worth a try, celebrities Twitter all the time, Ashton Kutcher, Whoopie Goldburg, Elizaeth Taylor, I'm sure there are others.

Want to mail Fluff from Canada? (um, that's not quite right...) Are you in Canada and want to send Fluff?Amazon.com is easy
Just got off the phone from Danielle at
Buy the Case. If you are using PayPal for payment.... she said when you make the account, put in the delivery address as your home address (their forms do not support Canadian addresses). From their warehouses, it is 1 to 2 day delivery, so timing delivery for the 16th might be tricky.
And you can add a message with the delivery (don't forget to end with a comment about donating excess to a food bank)

And just because you follow them, doesn't mean they follow you or would even notice if you @'d them.... And would they re-tweet your information? That's when you nail it bigtime.
I've started adding Ausiello to my tweets - does anyone know any other media types that tweet? We should hunt them down and follow them.

I posted info about the campaign at LJ, but there wasn't that much response.
And I sent messages to all my YouTube friends with information. Wish I could have figured out to to email the subscribers.... YouTube confuses me....

I was too upset after getting my copy of EW last weekend & reading about the changes on LOCI to read any of the threads here. Now I see you all seem to have some hope that Goren & Eames departure might not be a done deal?!? I don't have time right now to go back thru & read 48 pages

but I was hoping there might be something I still can do to help. Are there certain pages in this thread or elsewhere outlining what you all are doing and what a "late to the game" person can still do?
Thanks,
Jackie

I'm still getting comments on it and the "like this" thingies. Some just signed it without commenting or messaging me and that's great too.
I tried adding the blog with the "Share" button, quietfireca, but it keeps asking me to sign in again when I'm already signed in and once it prompted me to download an "Addthis" application. I forget which browser it was. Anyway, I got frustrated and confused and gave up. Don't they know there's too much work to be done to stop and sign up for EVERYTHING and download EVERYTHING? LOL. Maybe I'll try again today to just add the link myself without using the fancy buttons.

Read the article by Terra King, examiner.com Re: Lawand Order: CI Vincent D'onofrio Kathryn Erbe. A deafening silence. With only Vince having made a statement( of sorts) it leaves the question open for debate: If Kate is negotiating a return without Vince would you support her decision, and stay with the show? If an announcement were made by USA that Kate would remain, would you end the protest and settle for the status quo? Considering that if she remains it would be on a " Monk" style show, not the C.I. we used to have, could you accept that and let Vince leave without any further protests? I watched some of the episode about the bombing( don't know the episode name) and there is one scene in particular that struck me as nauseating, as Eames and Nichols walk away from the car after they find a bomb in a cake box on the back seat, Eames looks at Nichols in awe and says adoringly" Did you just save our lives?" He repls with a smirk and a wave of his hand" That's okay, you can buy us breakfast". Now I don't know about you, but I could never picture that kind of exchange between Goren and Eames, it was cloying and slightly childish for her to say it, this would become her new role on his show, the minor partner no longer in charge, not his equal, but his assistant ( think about how Monks assistants were treated). Can you accept that, will you accept it? Think about it, that may end up being what you get.

Yes, the petition one is the first link. It only takes a minute to fill out. Maybe less if you don't add a comment. If you don't have allot of time you can go there first. It made me feel better to see allot of people signing it!

I understand what you are asking, but I'm not at the "what if" stage. I'm fighting, as all of us are, for them
both to return
as a team. In theory, I know what I personally will do "if" we don't get what we want, but honestly, right now it's moot. We don't know what is on the table with Kathryn's negotiations. Just because she hasn't issued a statement, we
can't assume she is therefore negotiating coming back
without Vince. It's a theoretical situation that may (and I will bet won't) happen.
And if the BASRIC blog information from 9/27 is correct, if Vince were gone, Kate refused to stay on as Jeff's partner. D'Onofrio's agreement appears to be loose, as he himself said Goren may come back from time to time. The only thing we
do know is that things are fluid, which means we as fans
can make a difference.
I think we've rehashed the arguments enough. I'm remaining postitive that we will get what we're asking for until I'm told definitively otherwise. USA by now knows damn well we want them
both. We've been clear as day about that. I can't believe that is lost on Erbe's people either.
Go Team Goren and Eames!!!!

Someone mentioned trying to get Hollywood stars to help w/ the campaign. Wonder if there's a way to contact Liza Minelli, Brooke Shields, and other stars who are "keen" on Vincent. There have certainly been a lot of famous guest stars who might help, if we knew how to get in touch w/ them.
As for the "what if?" question, I love Eames, but I couldn't keep watching w/ her and Nichols. I can tolerate the eps if they alternate w/ Goren and Eames, but not if Goren is totally gone. He really IS the show. I also hated Eames getting along w/ Nichols, but, I think she doesn't have the same relationship w/ Goren b/c he is more complex. There are a lot of issues Alex and Bobby have worked through and some things still unresolved. So, Nichols is just like an "amusement" to Eames.

Here's what I found for their agents, filigree2:
BROOKE SHIELDS
United Talent Agency • TV/Feature Film (LA) ph. (310) 273-6700
LIZA MINNELLI
Innovative Artists • Equity (LA), TV/Feature Film (LA), Equity (NY), TV/Feature Film (NY) ph. (310) 656-0400
The first one looks like the same agency as Vincent D'Onofrio's.
Hope it helps!
