Hi krod, I must be dumb as a post and/or blind as a bat, but I don't see the blog you're talking about.

Can you please post a link to it?

Maybe it's just been too long of a day . . . . blink.gif

Thank you Krod! I couldn't check in for the last 3 days and when I came back this evening I was very saddened to see that this had happened. So thank you again, Krod.

Unfortunately we cannot delete the first post in a thread without deleting the entire thread. As a fan of Psych, Monk, Burn Notice...well, I guess all USA original programming, I found the comment to be more than just "an unfortunate choice of words". This should never have been taken to the other boards. Anyone who is interested in the campaign will know to come here for information. Krod took the appropriate action.

Others have addressed the rest of your post quite eloquently. I will just add that we are not believing "every rumor and innuendo" out there....we are listening intently to the deafening silence of the very stars who are at issue here. As for believing USA...are you talking about the network that promoted a November premiere of season 8 and then 10 days before the premiere said, "Oops! Never mind, we'll let you know when we decide to premiere it." And then told us "Winter 2009" and then "Spring 2009"? Are you talking about the network that took what was a carefully planned sequence of episodes for G/E, showing Goren's slow recovery and tossed them in the air and then showed them in whatever order they landed? Are you talking about the network that did the same thing with the N/W episodes, completely ignoring the intended sequence of the detectives getting to know one another. And that resulted in Goren's magically appearing and disappearing beard and Wheeler's magically appearing and disappearing pregnant belly? That network? You say we don't believe them? That IS rather shocking, isn't it?

I agree with what you said. Living in Canada, I don't have access to the USA network so I can't really say I know exactly how everyone else feels but I have had similar experiences with CTV and their handling of CI - although to be honest, I think NBC was partially to blame on that one too since the two networks were airing CI at the same time (why I'll never know) - as well as other networks here.

Not so far. The first case I sent a couple of weeks ago I sent to him. The case I sent last week I sent to Jean Guerin. I ordered it last Wednesday, hoping it would arrive on Friday...but it didn't get delivered until Monday.
quietfireca
I think we need to keep up the pressure.

So Mr. Wachtel is now sending Fluff back, but Ms. Guerin is accepting it....
I wonder who has the sense of humour over at USA?

And why, all of a sudden, do we have part of an old interview surfacing disguised as referring to Season 9 when it clearly is referring to Season 8?

And why this French article that no one can respond to, which seems to be a patchwork of old and relatively new articles?

Seems like there is a pile of mis-information being spread. By who? Kinda makes you wonder.

I'm thinking we need to keep bombarding the media. So check the Hit List and make sure you do the media portion!!!

Yay! We ROCK!

I suspect Mr. Watchel must be returning the Fluff (or whoever works for him has) because of either a lack of a sense of humor or fear of acknowlegdement that they may have screwed up, or the more likelyhood that acknowledging that is the kind of thing you don't want to admit to ad buyers about.

As previously said, I still think this whole thing about wanting JG to head "CI" is a cover for ad buyers telling Dick Wolf and everyone at NBC-Universal that they are refusing to pay sufficient ad rates to warrant keeping VDO and KE, at least at the salaries they are being paid.

Ad buyers can dictate such in that way. They may actually have been the ones who insisted on this change, not Mr. Wolf or anyone at NBC-Universal.

Thanks for your thoughts - and I wouldn't have known what to say a week ago if I hadn't seen this and have been wondering how to use it. You've helped!

I'm not sure ad buyers care that much. One of the Fluff campaigners had a response back from Colgate:

Dear (Fluffer):

Thank you for your message to Colgate's Board of Directors regarding "Law & Order", which was forwarded to me for a response.

We place our advertising in a variety media outlets, including television, in order to best reach our target consumers. We do not have creative input or control over the scripts or casting of the television programs where we place our advertising.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to contact us. I hope this information is helpful

I worked as a media buying intern for a major agency. It was awhile ago, but I remember this: All media buyers look at is demographics. They couldn't care less who stars in what as long as the demos are there. Do you honestly think, for instance, the media buyers targeting the 18-24 males watch "Monday Night Raw" and contact Vince McMahon about which wrestler should win the next title?
quietfireca
Further to the advertising thing above.

They may not have creative input, but they have control over where they spend their money.

I agree with you that ad buyers really don't care that much. All they care about is that people are watching the shows they put their money behind. When the numbers fall off and it becomes obvious that a good number of viewers have left a given show (I give them our show) they will take their advertising dollars elsewhere.
cat lady
Glad to know you didn't believe for a second that the taped video was a new one reflecting Vince's feelings about the show. Clearly someone thought it would or it wouldn't have been released. If you listen closely Vince is clearly speaking about how with Goldbloom on as second team lead the show has many years left. This was a blatant attempt to have us give up and go away, well it didn't work, and I urge you to work even harder now to let them know how we feel. Don't give up now, obviously someone is feeling the heat. Turn it up, we think they can use a fire to make s'mores with all that Fluff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, they don't care but they may want to know that the demographics will be MUCH different after the two-episode opener.

I imagine JG is more geared to young male views and most of the VDO fans are women who are in charge of the household buying.

Toothpaste isn't on the top of my stepson's buying list - neither is anything made by GE.

So, it will change and new advertisers will be moving in when the bottom falls out...maybe.

Thanks Catlady! I am *so* glad you could see easily through the smoke. I wish everyone could.

That's what I think - someone is feeling the heat. Maybe we should start sending graham crackers with the fluff.

Just sent out a bunch of emails and getting postcards ready for tomorrow. I sent some to Dick Wolf, in previous batches, but I don't remember where I found his address, anyone remember?

For the record, I didn't believe that was a new interview either. Especially when I've seen it before. I find the timing to be perfect for TPTB, trying to throw unknowing viewers off. I really wish that hadn't shown up, even if it just throws a few viewers off the truth. We need as many people as possible to be supportive of the campaign.

Absolutely. That's why I've been stressing the demographics angle on the (pathetically few compared to everyone here) postcards I've sent. I have encouraged these network yutzes to take a look at who has been buying on L&O:CI and compare that list to the names on the e-mails, postcards, etc. they have been receiving.

There might be something to what the OP of this angle said in that perhaps USA jacked up the rates on the D'Onofrio/Erbe episodes for the ninth season and advertisers balked just on cost alone. Odds are they were getting the same demos on the Goldblum eps, although that is likely to change given the fallout. Anyway, wish I could have seen a rate card.

Wow, looks like alots happened the past couple days I've been gone..InfinityStar and Charley seem to have gotten a lil campaign punch drunk the other night! ( I loved your game...you guys are good!)

Well, I think I'm caught up on the hit lists...any new news yet? On anything??
Outerbankschick
Time for a pep rally, y'all!!

Don't let those network ninnies fool you! Someone is having a real fun time taking old interview footage and passing it off as "new". Someone else is having a real fun time putting sound bytes together from various interviews and making it look like "one" interview...and a "new" one at that.

If anyone has any doubt, I urge you to give me a second here. Because that comment about his "health" being an issue is a DEAD GIVEAWAY!! He did not have health problems "a few months ago". It was a few years ago.

In my opinion, these tactics are SO obvious...and they are laughable! Seriously. It's completely ridiculous how far these dopes are going to try to shut up the fans that they NEED to watch the show!! Are they nuts? We're already ticked off. Now someone is working double-time to alienate us even further?

*knocking on the door of TPTB*

Uh...guys...what are y'all smokin' in there?

Anywho...keep up the good work y'all! Hit 'em hard and hit 'em often!

GO TEAM LOCI!!!!!

Also, I noticed on the LOCI show page where I can find a link to the board, there are no forum threads showing as they usually are and when I click on "Visit the Board", I am immediately sent to the log in page where I must log in to see what the forum. I was just wondering if I wasn't a member and I just wanted to get some information on the campaign, I wouldn't be able to get it. This is new. I wonder what that's about. Is anyone else having that problem?

Hi! I thought I read all of the pages since I was last on, but I'm not sure where the video interview everyone is talking about is from? Is there a link?

2 things:

Thing 1) Thank you so much for the mass emailer on the blog! I have a ton of midterm stuff due for school this week, but it only takes 5 minutes to send about 30 emails on there. Yay!

Thing 2) There is an application on Yahoo called Babel Fish (like in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)

http://babelfish.yahoo.com/

where you can paste text or a web address and translate from almost any language to another. I pasted the French interview and have it saved as a Word document in its entirety. I didn't know if it would be considered appropriate to post it here, and figured probably not, but if you want to see what it says, just paste the article's web address into this app, and you can read it for yourself. Some of it sounds like VDO and makes sense, but as was pointed out earlier, there is no author or location given, so it may just be a hoax.

make much sense. It doesn't seem to make sense in any translation though!

Just an note to anyone who still has doubts about USA's "intent" to "lighten" (or "fluff up") LOCI. Here are the polls that have been posted on the USA home page in recent months. Notice the vast difference in the type of questions about Nichols' character as opposed to Goren:

Which of these real life figures would you like to see Goren interrogate?

Roger Clemens - 4%

O.J. Simpson - 36%

Barack Obama - 13%

Scott Peterson -19%

George W. Bush -19%

Paris Hilton - 4%

Oprah Winfrey -4%

What is your favorite quality in Det. Zack Nichols?

Knowledge of psychology and pharmeceuticals - 11%

Sense of humor - 16%

Overall quirkiness - 64%

He plays the piano - 8%

There there is this question, posted before the season began:

What quality would you like Jeff Goldblum to bring to the Major Case Squad?

Quirkiness - 18%
Intensity - 6%
Wit - 23%

Perspicacity - 3%
Animal Magnetism - 2%

All-around Goldbluminess - 48%

This isn't about the results...it's about the types of questions asked and the answers the poll gives the reader to choose from. Goren = serious, thought-provoking, Nichols = light, humorous.

Interesting, isn't it? Oh, but some will still say that USA isn't going to "mess" with the show. Yeah. Right.

Oh, and then there is THIS lovely gem of a poll:

Who is your favorite character on CI?

Goren - 72%

Eames - 9%

Logan - 15%
Wheeler - 1%

Ross - 1%
Falacci - 2%

Well, well, well. Just look who came out the WINNER! And we know if that poll were done today, with Nichols, the results would still be the same.

HEY USA!! WAKEY, WAKEY!! biggrin.gif

My biggest problem with whomever is doing the thing with the article and video is that they are doing it dishonestly. Whoever is posting that stuff is misrepresenting the context of what was said and the time period in which it was said. To me, that shows a huge lack of integrity.

I don't think the article and video were made specifically to sandbag out efforts - I think those were made by French journalists to draw attention to their own publications and to capitalize on the fan uproar over the change.

I think they are being distributed here by fans to try to show their side of the story and I think we need to continue to show how flawed and inaccurate those stories are...

Both are very poorly done. The video in itself is okay but to try to FORCE it to be a S9 when its obviously not...sad. He is obviously excited that JG is just then joining the cast and seems pretty happy with his job at that time.

With the article - I have emailed them at least 10 times to try to get SOME information as to who the author is and all those pesky little details that were left out...they haven't gotten back to me yet.

I will keep at it...

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the French article or video is getting much play or making a big impact in the US. We would never have even known about them except that us die hard fans are all over the world and they were sent to The Reel. Since a lot of us read that site, we have seen them, but who else has? I haven't seen any major US publications pick any of this up. I feel it it were legitimate, we would have something concrete here in the US as well. So I am making a decsion not pay attention to any of it and wait to find out the truth (which we will know at some point as the new episodes are filmed). Did any of the prinicpal actors show at the filming yesterday? Is there new filming today?

Has anyone else had fluff returned? Let's rock on with the campaign -- we have to be getting under their skin! We need to put it into overdrive!!!!!!!

I am not very computer savy so I do not know how to post links to other sites, but searching Elizabeth D'Onofrio I found a blog from her where she states that while on a family vacation Vincent told everyone he would be moving on from the Goren character, and I believe the way she says it - he made the choice. Is this legitimate? I am leary now with all the possible fabricated articles floating around. Did anyone else see this message from her? I do not think the site mentioned when this vacation was, but I think she wrote this blog in early October.

Boy if that is true I sure wouldn't want to put pressure on Vincent to return if he is ready to move on. But like al lot of people have said, it doesn't seem like him to go out this way. I believe he would have wanted to bring the character to a better conclusion - unless he wants to keep the door open. Sure, maybe after last season he wants to remove himself from the lack of quality (not on his part) that disappointed many fans. It sure would have helped to have more clear cut explanations - from EVERYBODY!

Until something more official comes out, I will continue to beat the drum and let TPTB know if they had anything to do with "forcing" this decision, they need to reverse it if possible. I am still hoping they will make him an offer he cannot refuse so when he does exit stage left, the standing ovation is deafening.

Yes, that is his sister and she wrote that in response to all the VDO fans that keep harassing her on her blog.

From everything we have seen - she is simply repeating the statement that USA Network released on VDO's behalf.

We have seen things from "family" that clearly contradict VDO's own statements in video interviews - I am sure she was just trying to get people OFF HER BLOG and trying to not say anything that hasn't already been released.

So, yes, please keep marching on and keep the campaign going!

Okay...I am getting really offended here....

Is everyone out there sending out their own emails and that is why my emailer suddenly just fell off the planet???

We went from 200 emails per day down to like 20.

What's going on out there?????

I sure hope you guys aren't getting tired!!!

What's a multiple emailer gotta do to get some love around here??

Tell me that you are all just really busy whipping out your own emails...before I start to cry... blink.gif

Don't make me break out into an inspirational hymn....nobody wants to hear me sing...

So, anybody know anything about the supposed radio interview Vince gave, this morning? It was brought up on the "leaving CI" thread, I believe, but the poster didn't catch it. Supposedly he spoke about his appearance at that pub and about leaving CI.

I saw that...I searched high and low...and I can find nothing.

I have no clue and the other members on the official blog have heard nothing and I checked theree and again...nothing.

Sorry, I got nothing! LOL.

Still head-scratching!
I'm off for the weekend! (working, not playing!)

Keep fluffing! It's time to renew the Fluff campaign - let's do cheap cotton balls this time! Especially if you've blown the wad on Marshmallow Fluff! Go tell the media - Only Fluffy Characters welcome at USA? - we're sending them Fluff.

I'm secretly hoping they sat down in a conference room at USA, with their spoons, and loaded up on the bottled stuff. Then realized that Fluff is a mistake so called in the negotiators to make a full Goren & Eames Season 9.
