Well, I didn't think of the Fluff in his hands till this afternoon and I was bored with the real world, soooooo.

Bobby is waiting to pick up Alex and they're going to drive to Rockefeller Plaza where they will flash their badges and unceremoniously deliver their tub off fluff at Jean Guerin's office..... Alex is already working on her snark. mad.gif

Tonight Bobby is typing up his resume. Alex is ripping it out of the typewriter and trying to tear it up. If she still had Polly, she'd paper the bottom of his cage with Bobby's resume. Bobby was going to clip his resume together with his tie clip seeing he seldom uses it anymore, except Alex locked it in her gun locker. Heaven forbid he'd go in there. A guy never knows what he's going to find in a woman's gun locker. huh.gif

Alex is thinking she might have a bowl of ice cream topped with Skittles and Fluff. biggrin.gif They'll have to stop and get another tub before going to USA Network offices, because she's going to eat the whole damn thing tonight. sad.gif She hears there are many cases of Fluff arriving at USA Network offices next Friday and she will make sure theirs is included. What about yours? wink.gif

*sigh*

OMG! I am ROTFLOL!! You need to put that in a fic! That's hilarious!

Hola, folks! :-)

I shared the new article on Movieline on my FB page just now, that cheered me up! And the continuing silence has me a bit optimistic. I only got a few emails sent out today, but I have a pile of postcards to mail out tomorrow on my way to the beach (YAY!)

I won't be able to do anything else till Monday, so I'll be sure to get a few more emails off before I go to bed.

I read a few of the posts above, and I also have never joined a campaign to save a show before. I've sent a few emails and signed a couple of petitions (Eli Stone, Reaper-I miss you!), but I've never sent postcards or been part of an organized emailing effort like this before. I just love this show so much!

[color="#800080"][/color]Keep up the good work, everyone!

I'm so glad I joined this board-you are all making me feel like this isn't a lost cause.

Hola, Allison75! I'm glad you joined too. I like reading your posts. You keep me motivated! Hope you have a great relaxing weekend trip! smile.gif

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to all who are putting in so much effort into this campaign! It's really amazing how people can come together to so strongly support a worthy cause they believe in. Here here!

I thought this interview would give morale a little boost - though it's not about CI, it IS about NBC (what a surprise it's NBC!)'s recent cancellation of Southland, a gritty, dark look into a police department in LA. One of the actors on the show, Michael Cudlitz, openly expresses his anger about being blindsided with the news. One response of his in particular caught my attention, and I believe it's a message that fans of TV everywhere can take to heart:

The full article can be found here.

Go Go Go!!

Thanks for posting this, footsteps, I really enjoyed reading all the comments too. I had to laugh at the folks that just typed: NBC = Nothing But Crap. LOL.

I don't understand if they are trying to sell NBCUNI why they would want to destroy all of their programs and ratings first? Wouldn't that lessen the value during the deal? I also got the impression that the writers/actors may have been restrained a bit from making it into a really good drama and that is probably why some viewers lost interest right away (myself included.) I mean if you are going to sell a house you don't try to stifle it's best qualities, you paint them and try to enhance them to make the offer more appealing right? Either I'm missing something important or I'll just never understand some things.

I got a big kick out of that fluff pic, quietfire. It made me laugh!

OH and yeah, and I agree with footstepsontherun very much. You all are amazing. All of you that are campaigning fight with the passion of a mama bear fighting defending her cubs. I'm proud to stand beside you.

Have a Great Weekend All!

I've been dropping in other fan sites all day and I just saw this posted in Criminal Intent-US. I think this poster (annabellelleigh) is considered some kind of insider. Here's the cut & paste.

I think this is definitely worth a try. I'm going to buy a whole lot of postcards and stamps tomorrow.

WHO here isn't ready to give up???!!!

Ms. S

Though the Nielsen ratings will be the true test, I say that those who want to send a message to key NBCU executives should do so. In fact I urge you to write, for yourselves as well as the actors. If enough people (and that is, thousands) take immediate action I don't think the effort will be wasted.

Bonnie Hammer
President
NBCU Cable Entertainment and Universal Cable Productions

Snail mail address:

I suggest a short, well-composed postcard (or multiple postcards) rather than letters. Clearly state your displeasure with the decision to dump Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe and your request that the decision be reversed. Three good, focused sentences will more likely be taken seriously than a lot of scribble. Try to stay polite. Don't make threats; don't say anything bad about Jeff Goldblum. Definitely spell and grammar check before sending; and write legibly (or use a printer).

A huge pile of postcards is likely to have more impact than e-mail but you can also try:

bonnie.hammer@nbcuni.com

You might also send the same message to her immediate USA subordinate Jeff Gaspin, same snail mail address, and jeff.gaspin@nbcuni.com.

And don't delay. Do it on Monday if not today. Also, if you post on other CI or VDO boards, you would do well to pass this information on ASAP. If Vincent D'Onofrio really has as many steadfast fans as everyone here thinks, a strong, grassroots effort should be fairly easy to mobilize.

AL

Thanks for the great info. When do the Nielsen ratings come out so we can see how CI did in them? Thanks for your help in advance.

I only watch Criminal Intent to see Goren and Eames. Without them the show is nothing. I think that Det. Nichols is a good character, too, but if I don't get my Goren and Eames fix, then, I wont watch anymore. My question is did the network oust them or do they want to be done with the show? Because that makes a big difference. Does anyone know? sharlyn

We have no statements from anyone's camp directly. We have a statement that USA released on VDO's behalf meant to make us feel like it was his choice but nothing from their camps.

Even if he did leave - I think we have all agreed that to keep the show on the air without Goren/Eames is disrespectful to them and to us.

At this point the ONLY actors we know are going to be in the season opener are JG and VDO - no mention of KE or EB.

Lots of entertainment reporters are saying money or that they were fired.

We may never really know.

Here is what I'm up to today:

I have found Nikki Finke's twitter page and I am working on following all her followers (whew, she has 12,000+ and you have to add each one manually. I have a long way to go). Some are already following back. I think the name saveGorenEames will move those who want to be moved into following.

I'm going to start tweeting Susan's list of "Things I learned from Criminal Intent", so if you want to see them, follow here: http://twitter.com/saveGorenEames !!!!

That's great! I picked up a few who are interested off of USA_LOCI twitter page...I will send you a list of who I have heard from so you can tweet to them directly.

I started adding USA's followers...they have about as many as Nikki..I have added about 200 so far....

I have been tweeting at Nikki for some time...she isn't following me though....

I sent e-cards driving home the sponsor angle to USA...gonna send out a few more to media about the "fluffalanche".

Nikki doesn't follow anyone. So we need to target those who are interested in her. Her followers are obviously interested in entertainment and we need them to follow back and re-tweet our message to their friends. I'm going to get the hang of this social networking yet!

I picked up about 10 people on LOCI twitter thing...they tweeted to me directly - I sent you those so you can send them direct tweets about the "offical" twitter feed.

I am working on the USA people while you work on her...anyone who contacts me directly I will send you way.

I have picked up about 100 follows but most didn't bother to see who I was or what I was doing...urg. Still...we picked up a few.

Do you search to see who is talking about VDO, KE, LOCI, Law and ORder Ciminal Intent and all the other buzz words...I have been searching for those people and tweeting at them with our rally cry and links too....if you are doing it too...I will let you since we what them on your site the most.

I keep posting updates on facebook sites and any article where VDO, LOCI , or KE is mentioned (and where I won't be buried on page 5346...)

If you other ideas of places to post our links...I am all ears!

Way to go Charley! (yes, I got those and am following)
I am stifling my conservative streak for this! I am now raiding all the @USA_LawOrderCI followers. It just takes time to go through every page.

If anyone is trying to get my attention on Twitter, send me a direct message - or do it here! I'm not going to be reading the approaching-1000 followers tweet....

and if you have room add the hash #saveGorenEames to your tweet.

When I get through some of what I have to do, I will try searching for those other topics Charley.

BTW -- the US postal service is closed Monday for Columbus Day, but we can use the opportunity to write postcards to be picked up on Tuesday. Hmm . . . for a Friday arrival. What else is going on this Friday ???? tongue.gif laugh.gif

Lots of entertainment reporters are saying money or that they were fired.

We may never really know.

Both are basically the same if it's true they were only offered half their salary knowing it would force the actors to leave. This allows a studio to dump actors and place the blame on the actors. I'm glad some writers have called it a "mass firing" because that was the real intent.

As I was cleaning the kitchen, I was thinking.....

Even if you don't agree with the campaign, what we're doing can't hurt.

Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian are actors. They are self-employed. Self-employed people have to promote themselves.

We're helping them do their promotion. And not in a negative way!

Off soap box........

I have been doing everything I KNOW HOW to do: one day I sent out 40 postcards, plus emails, then another 40, and some emails, plus 6 bags of cotton balls. I've got another 50 postcards almost ready for Monday. And I did reply to that columnist. I even had a sweatshirt made up with "NBC/UNIV--- NO GOREN NO EAMES NO VIEWERS" What can I do with that, anything?

But--- I have to admit, I know absolutely nothing about tweeting. I can never find the original post to reply to, or even what it is about. Nor do I know how to follow anyone. I joined a few weeks ago to follow CI, and all I ever see are replies on different subjects, or again, what the post was about. I think there are a few people following me, but how they are doing it I'll never know since I never posted anything. So how do I do this tweeting?

Uh...that account is fake, I just happened to notice it. Like Quietfireca said though, he does have a lot of followers, so who knows, maybe they'll listen to him. You guys on twitter have picked up a lot Ci fans and are spreading the word to others, great job. On hollywood.com, the only thing I could find was the Contact Us page.

I don't know if anyone else read Ausiello's article about Southland's cancellation, but the situation reminded me of Ci's. Here's are parts of the article and questions asked to Michael Cudlitz, one of the actors on the show.

" What explanation were you given?
CUDLITZ:
We were given the same statement that everyone got. [NBC] said they watched the first [four] episodes and determined that they were too dark. I don’t even know where to go with that. They were the scripts that [NBC] approved for a show that they picked up — a show they themselves advertised as an authentic, raw, and gritty look at the Los Angeles Police Department. So I don’t know what they thought they were getting… There’s something else going on I’m sure. We had a cast and crew screening on Tuesday for the season 2 premiere, and it was phenomenal. It was better than any of the episodes we have aired to date. It was fantastic. "

Do you have a theory as to what else might be going on?
CUDLITZ:
I really don’t. What audience are they afraid of pissing off? They don’t have an audience… There’s some speculation that they’re trying to cut costs because they’re trying to sell the network, but I don’t know. The thing that strikes me as very bizarre is that they have [six episodes] in the can, they don’t have anything on right now that is doing well, and our show is good. Why would you not put it on? So something else must be going on.

Anything fans can do?
CUDLITZ:
They can express their annoyance. Networks are in this to make money, and it’s obviously proven by this decision. Because if they cared about the quality and the art then they would keep the show on the air just because of that. This was not a show that was costing them a ton of money. This is a show that would more than likely have made them money, even if not a lot. And it was critically-acclaimed, and they still chose to cancel it because of the bottom line. They’re obviously in it for the money. So if you let them know you’re not happy with what they did, that can’t do anything but help. "

There is now a fan-made website to save the show by moving it to another network, a twitter account, petition ('twitition'), and a facebook page. Cudlitz supports the fans on his twitter account with tweets like - "Comment on every article, blog, interview, everything. Create such a buzz that it won't matter where we end up". Even though these fans are fighting to save the show by moving it somewhere other than NBC, they are just as upset and fired up as we are. Maybe we could help them somehow in return for their help to our campaign, like signing the petition (or is that cheating o_O?) Just a thought, it doesn't have to be a big thing, just a favor between fans.

I was just thinking about wanting a T-Shirt about the campaign today as I was out. I always want to know if there are other Ci fans out there, and imagine them coming up to me saying they're a fan too. I just figured out the tweet thing the hard way...trial and error!

If you want to tweet you can do the "help" thing but I think we are running in circles now we have been tweeting so much.

I think the media and to just keep flooding them with postcards/emails and fluff is what we need.

Guess I need more ink and some cotton balls before Tuesday....I gotta do some catching up!

Wow...that is amazing!

If you want to take a pic of yourself in the shirt...you can crop off part of your face if you want to keep it private... and send it to me or one of the blog girls we can surely put that pic on the blog and website...front page. I would also be more than happy to use your pic on the e-cards I send or I can send you the link so you can register and make your own e-cards.

Anyway, on the Home page is where the tweets of everyone you follow appear, as you already know. On your profile you can see who you are following and who is following you (you can also unfollow and block people.) When you want to tweet to someone, there is a little gray curved arrow that says 'reply to...' on any of their tweets. On the top will appear a box that says @(name), and you can type a message to them that will appear on your profile and they will see. It won't display the exact tweet of theirs you hit reply to, but to do that, put RT (re-tweet), type your reply, put their @ name, and copy and paste their tweet. There are other things, but this is just so you get a better picture of it.

Thanks, you guys! You made me feel good! This whole thing has devasated me--- I love VDO and Criminal Intent so much! I hate to think that they (TPTB) would treat our actors so badly after all the actors have done for the show through the years. Vincent D'Onofrio, along with Rene Balcer, created Bobby, and Vincent made it his own. There will never be another character on TV like Bobby Goren (I wrote this in my reply to that columnist, btw) although there are many wannabe's. I simply can't believe they are doing this.

Remember when the show first moved to USA, and how excited we all were? I remember saying that USA has promoted CI more in one week than NBC did in a year. Look how it has all changed... I'm certainly grateful for what they did in the beginning, but this...

Anyway, thanks Guys! I'll keep those postcards and emails coming! And I'll try to get a picture of that sweatshirt up---it's pretty cool, cause the color is so noticeable.

Exactly Bammi

We have this - along with lots of other info - on the blog

We need to keep mentioning this type of stuff in our emails!

So how do I do this tweeting?

sad.gif Thanks bammi! I thought I was the only person in the universe that had no knowledge of "tweeting". I just wanted to thank all of you guys for the tremendous support for our show. You're truly an inspiration. I've never been so passionate about saving anything on TV, but I've also NEVER found a series that completly intrigues me either! I too have sent tons of postcards, e-mails, signed petitions, and campaigned to everyone I know. Granted, I work alot but...I spend every spare moment watching the boards and any info I can find.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

To me, as said elsewhere what USA may be saying about viewers enjoying "lighter" fare in the case of "CI" may very well be a cover for what may have really happened: Ad buyers telling NBC-Universal that they would no longer pay sufficient rates for "CI" episodes on either USA Network or NBC to pay VDO and KE what they have been. As much as people at USA Network may claim to want "fluffy characters," the likelyhood is that ad buyers made it clear they were going to reduce what they paid USA for ad time next season on "CI," and that reduction forced USA's hand with VDO and KE.

IF that's the case, then USA will get to see how much ad buyers will pay for a show that only a handful of people watch. We can only act on the information we have and right now that information seems to be that USA wants lighter fare. So we will gladly oblige them with all the Fluff they can handle.

Just a suggestion but maybe you should add a link to where you can buy fluff on savegorenandeamesnow.com I was wondering about whether I can send fluff and it would be helpful to have a link or something.

Also I'm Canadian so does anyone know if sending fluff across the boarder will cost a lot more? I'm a dirt poor student so sadley how much money I can contribute to this is very limited.

That may actually turn out to be the case (and if so, it would be FAR from the first time ad buyers were proven wrong), however, ad buyers refusing to pay sufficient rates for shows is something you will never hear a network admit to. I do know for instance several years back when FOX had a split between the two MLB League Championship Series between FOX and FX that both games aired simultaneously as opposed to one in the late afternoon and the other in prime time (prior to TBS taking over one of the LCS series) was solely because ad buyers would not pay sufficient rates to warrant airing a late afternoon game unless it were Game 6 or Game 7. No network would ever admit to ad buyers dictating such publically.

The closest I remember a network admitting to that was in 2005, when NBC surprising canceled spinoff Trial By Jury after only 12 episodes even though it actually did well enough to warrant a renewal. The reason: The age of the average "TBJ" viewer was 54, with "TBJ's" ratings in the 18-49 age group that ad buyers unhealthly crave lower than many shows at the time on the WB Network in particular. That likely meant ad buyers told NBC they would not pay enough in rates for "TBJ" to keep going in that instance. While this time, it's likely more of the economy here, it nonetheless likely is that ad buyers did in fact tell NBC-Universal they refuse to pay what NBC-Universal felt was necessary to keep VDO and KE at their current salaries on "CI."

You are doing the right thing. There is a TON of passion here, and these campaigns have often been successful. I just know with the economy being as bad as it is, you are up against a lot here, especially if it were ad buyers refusal to pay sufficient rates that caused this.

Thank you for that glimmer of hope. I do think we're getting through given the new media recognition--let's see if it's enough. I have faith we can do this !!!!!

In order to have an avalanche, you need a mountain, and we are certainly building a mountain of support ( and positive buzz smile.gif )for our actors through twitter, postcards, emails, etc.

Let the Fluffalanche coming crashin down !!!! laugh.gif

I will gladly add a link!

The issue right now with the webpage is that no one is taking the time to leave the front page....think I need to redo and make more info. available on the front page.....???

I have a four day weekend (three left) guess I should work on that.

Okay....

Edited to say - I too am limited on cash so I sent cotton balls with a postcard taped to the front. Not as much POW as the fluff or Kayne's boxes of packing peanuts but....they get the point just the same. Okay...off to the webpage...needs to be more attention grabbing maybe?????
