I hope you didn't forget Multiply, MySpace, and Friendster. There are many CI fans that use that site. I'd be happy to spread the word along to keep Goren and Eames on the show. I am not a member there, but my friends are.

Sorry for the triple post. D:

facebook!!

Let's all make a note on facebook, and then put it on our status to tell people to read and do what's on the note. smile.gif

Does that sound good?

p.s. don't forgot about Bebo... Netlog... tagged... lol... if anybody has those.

IM YOUR FRIENDS TOO! smile.gif

A quick postcard...Take a piece of cardstock and write "Keep D'Onofrio, Erbe, and Bogosian on Law and Order: Criminal Intent!" (or whatever you want) Put the address and stamp on back with or without another quick note. I think this will help with volume.

I sent the two emails because I couldn't get out to send any snail mail today. I hope that is good enough because it is the best I could do.

And that's two more than we had a few minutes ago. If every one of the 23,000+ facebook friends of LOCI sends even just 2 emails, we will flood their inboxes.

And there are plenty more of us who are not on Facebook.

Ok, Quitefireca hadn't posted her graphic last night before I signed off and I am so very 20th Century that I don't know how to do that stuff. So last night I just found a photo of Goren, Eames and Ross and used Word and cardstock to make this for my postcard:

Very old school. What can I say, that's all I know how to do! I think Ross looks appropriately dejected here and I love the Goren has his notebook (and tie clip! smile.gif )

And I don't know, I would be hesitant to deluge any of the actors with e-mails or letters at this time. I have no doubt their personal assistants or whomever have let them know about all the support on the web.

I think your postcard is great. I got 5 printing now - will get them out tomorrow. I sent everyone emails today as well. What the heck...at least we didn't go down without a fight!!!

HOPE THIS DOESN'T SEEM SILLY BUT I HAVE ENCLOSED BELOW PROPER PROTOCOLS (Courtesy of eHOW) FOR ADDRESSING A POSTCARD JUST FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNSURE...Jim, Columbus, OH

addressing a postcard
Postcards come in different sizes. According to the USPS requirements, the smallest mailable size is 3 1/2 inches x 5 inches. Postcards are rectangular in shape with two sides and are printed in thick paper. They are used for personal and business purposes and do not need an envelope for mailing. The following steps give instruction on how to properly address a postcard.

Step
1
Flip the postcard to expose the back portion. At the back of the postcard, there are two sections. Most postcards have a vertical line down the middle to separate the sections.

Step
2
Put the recipient’s name and address on the right hand side. This is the addressing area and should only contain the recipient’s mailing address. You can type or hand write it. See to it that you align your text on the center of the space, not too close to the top, nor too close to the bottom. This makes it easier to read.

Step
3
On the left side of the postcard is the message section. Write your message on the space provided, either by typing or writing it by hand. Depending on the length of your message, estimate how much characters you need to write so you can maximize the space.

Step
4
Write your return address on the upper left corner opposite the postage section. Including a return address in your postcard is entirely up to you. This is a good practice since you can always get the postcard back if it is undelivered.

Step
5
On the top right section, this is where you put your stamp. Usually, there’s a small box printed with the words “Place Stamp Here”. But if there’s no text written, know that this is the standard section for postage.

Step
6
Mail your postcard.

You know, I had to look that up myself! We are so used to email these days - forgot how to write a letter or send a postcard.

I went simple - addy in the middle and one line on the bottom of the card "NO GOREN & EAMES.....NO ME", that sort of thing. Really, the postcards say it all -

WE WANT GOREN AND EAMES!!!
moonlightenvy
I emailed every email address posted with all my email accounts (4!) and I have 10 postcards to go out tomorrow. I made a total of 50 postcards (for now) so I will send 10 each day (school gets in the way of writing them up and I want them to keep flooding Burbank, CA!) I will also email everyday. I hope we can get more people and more emails/postcards!!

We can do it.

Could someone with a IMDB account get there and post links to all the sites with the letter/emailing info.??

My FLIPPING account won't let me log in. If several people with accounts can flood the site with the info it would be great, there are many, many, many posts on there and things get lost on those pages!

I would say hit all the actors pages' as well as the LOCI page.

Hopefully I can get my account up there but so far....NUTTIN'

Thanks!

CBS to "Jericho" Fans: It Will Return Next Season
June 08, 2007 by
Eric Reynolds Eric Reynolds

If you're a fan of social bookmarking sites, chances are you've seen the petition going around to bring back the CBS television series "Jericho". Last season when CBS canceled the series because of a low amount of viewers, fans revolted.

In what was a very unexpected announcement today, CBS put out a release letting fans know that they were heard and a listened to, "Jericho" will return next season

CBS to "Jericho" Fans: It Will Return Next Season
according to CNN.

In a letter released to the Associated Press, CBS says:

"You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard," Tassler wrote, and seven episodes have been ordered for midseason 2007-08. "In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more 'Jericho,' we will need more viewers."

However, the win doesn't come without an ultimatum. For "Jericho" to remain on the air this time, fans must do their part to help out, they must help spread the word. CBS will be rerunning the first season this summer, as well as allowing full episode streaming videos on their website and releasing the first season on DVD.

Networks have only brought back shows a handful of times in the past due to fan protests. CBS attributes the return of "Jericho" to the well organized fans. Jericholives.com has been ground zero for most of the organization.

"We are tired of the networks (not just CBS) tossing aside quality programming," the website stated. "Enough! We're going to fight for this one." And fight they did, all the way to the winning end. Today Jericholives.com issued the following statement to everyone who helped resurrect the series:

"It is now obvious to those of us who have been writing, calling, and bombbarding the network with nuts (referring to 50,000 pounds of peanuts that fans sent the head offices in New York) that the network cares about us. The employees have been polite, funny and patient with caller after caller. The mailrooms have distributed our letters and found places for the nuts day after day. And most importantly the executives have labored to find a way to make this happen for their viewers. We know that Nina Tassler and Kellu Kahl spent a great deal of time and effort to bring this to pass."

Peanuts, huh? I wonder how Bonnie Hammer would like, say, macadamia nuts (exotic) or pistachio nuts (classy) or cashews (just plain yummy). Maybe mixed nuts...?

I mailed a few letters, this morning, sent some emails, last night, and have postcards ready to mail in the morning. I feel better just doing SOMETHING rather than sitting around feeling depressed. Maybe it really will make a difference.

For all the naysayers who are thinking this postcard/letter/email campaign is futile and that Vince probably wanted to leave, anyway, I have these thoughts on the matter. Yes, I was one of the people who was worried after hearing the French interview addressing whether or not he was bored w/ the character of Goren. He probably did want to wrap it up, soon. I believe, however, that this campaign may invigorate Vince's interest and respect for Bobby Goren. Maybe the failure of negotiations was due to a combination of USA wanting to cut salaries and Vince deciding it was time to "hang it up". I sincerely hope that he has a publicist or even just friends/family members who are aware of our efforts and pass this good will along to him. If we get USA to go begging to him and Kate, here's hoping they feel the love from us and say "yes"! biggrin.gif

This will almost certainly NOT work:

The fact is, the economic realities probably forced this on NBC-Universal. Advertising rates have fallen considerably in a lot of places, and that, coupled with skyrocketing production costs probably forced NBCU (parent company of Wolf Productions) to let VDO, KE and EB go. Having to pay Chris Meloni and Mariska through the nose to stay on "SVU" (which NBC could ill-afford to lose) likely also played a major factor in what happened with "CI," and I suspect many other shows over the next year or two could see similar bloodbaths happen if the economy (and ad revenue) does not improve soon (there is a reason NBC went to Jay Leno five nights a week at 10:00 PM ET/PT).

Julianne Nicholson left on her own before this came out, most likely because she wanted to spend more time with her kids.

We need a web site...someplace to gather all our info, sample letters, the postcard links, email/snail mail addresses, and all the blogger links and such. Then we can flood the net with links to the page.

I have a website but the domain name is...silly. I could add a goren/eames page to my site and compile all the info there but its not as catchy as "jerichoLives.com" or whatever.

I can put up a message board too on the same site - focus everyone to one location but....again...the title is....long & silly.

If someone already has a place in mind or can get a site up....that would be great - but I can if someone else doesn't have a better site.

Let me know what y'all think.

We need to organize quickly if we really hope to have some effect.

I am not expecting a change but its better than just going quietly!

Ya know, I think you are very right.

However, it still amazes me to see how many new shows are released every year. And virtually none is a low budget sitcom. Seems like they'd rather throw away tons of money betting on new shows, instead of keeping some strong ones running.

Some times it's not economic reality, it's men's decisions when faced to economic realities.

No, it probably won't but...does it really hurt to try? In these times when people are faced with REAL problems and REAL hardships is it so horrible for folks to get together and put out a combined effort that...for a while at least....takes our minds off of the REAL crap we all deal with every single day?

I have a dog w/cancer. I have no children - she is my fuzzy four-legged kid. For now I get to focus on postcards and emails, blogs and letters. Not how long it will be before I lose her or have to make the hard choice of WHEN is the right time for it to be "that time".

Isn't that what televison is supposed to be - a chance to escape from our realities for a short time?

LOCI gives me the chance to step out and away from the crap that is everyday real life and go to a place where the bad guys get caught and Bobby looks darn good catching them!! tongue.gif

Does anyone want to guess how much it costs to produce the new NBC show 'Trauma'? 4 million per episode. (The last I heard CI cost 3 million per episode) and that was when it was on NBC, the budget was slashed when it went to USA.

4 million per episode!! And the critics have already slammed it. (I watched it tonight...Lousy) Clearly NBC has NO clue how to budget or what makes a good TV show. I bet 'Trauma' will be canceled within the month.

Whether it works or not is not the point of our efforts. The point is we are not going to take this without doing something to express ourselves as loyal fans of the series and the actors. If you don't want to participate, then don't. Let the rest of us do what we feel we need to do to express ourselves. It's about the show and the actors we love. Reality is tough enough for many of us. Just let us have this, if you don't mind.

Very well said, Charley! I have one daughter who is bipolar and type 1 diabetic. The little one is bipolar with kidney failure (on dialysis), asthma and celiac disease. I need Bobby Goren to give me some kind of focus away from the realities of my life once in awhile. I need the reminder that as bad as life can get, good can still somehow come from it, and he is the good I like to focus on. So let me wink.gif

Let's hope that THOUSANDS of emails/postcards/phone calls will force USA to re-open negotiations. But it will take just that-thousands of contacts-anything less will not work. Let's give it a couple of weeks and see how it all shakes out. I vaguely recall several years ago fans sent in thousands of bottles of tabasco sauce to force another network to renew ROSWELL for another year. So I am somewhat hopeful. But what if USA still chooses to ignore thousands of its viewers over this matter? Then I think we need to take the next step- picket their corporate HQs in the Big Apple (peacefully of course). I'm willing to fly out and do my part. Any thoughts?...Jim, Columbus, OH
Wallyhorse
And I know these campaigns have been successful in the past, however:

We are dealing with much different realities now than in the past, and while they may appreciate the effort very much and would like to do more, I'm just having to be realistic on this. Unless VDO and KE have a massive change of heart and agree to work for much less than what they were previously making (and $175,000 an episode, which is what I believe they were offered is not exactly anything to sneeze at), I don't see them knocking on the door to return, which is the real problem.

As for throwing money on new shows, I suspect that will become less and less over time as well if the economy continues to tank. In those cases, many of these shows coming out now were on the drawing boards before the economic situation fell apart first with the collapse of Bear Stearns 18 months ago and then with Lehman Brothers going under and Merrill Lynch and AIG almost doing so as well a little over a year ago. I also think because of changing lifestyles we will see more moves like the one NBC made this year with Jay Leno at 10:00 PM ET/PT that will further reduce the number of new shows we see in the future.

And as for me, The Law and Order Franchise, 24, In Plain Sight and Royal Pains are the only regular shows that I watch. The rest of the time with me, it's either news or sports (I'll watch a ton of CNBC in the daytime and ESPN in the late afternoons and evenings).

I would go. I live in Connecticut so it's less than 2 hours away. Most of my family lives in New York City so I'm always visiting the area. If enough people take this seriously I can see it happening. wink.gif

But it cannot hurt to try. So let us try. A major showing of support never, ever hurt a show or an actor's ego.

I think that we should all change our signatures to reflect our displeasure with this situation. We should be honest and direct, while refraining from being unkind.

If nothing more we can still try and fight for Kathryn Erbe. Because her contract still hasnt been finalised. From what i have read they are not even sure if she will be in the twoparter.

I know for some they leave when Goren leaves. But i'd almost stay for Eames, we'd still at least have a part of Goren still there.

Im attached to Eames - just the same as Goren. They are a team. Though i dont hope they seperate them. Ah god i dont know what i want!!!

*Crawls into corner* I cant handle this.

And as for me, The Law and Order Franchise, 24, In Plain Sight and Royal Pains are the only regular shows that I watch. The rest of the time with me, it's either news or sports (I'll watch a ton of CNBC in the daytime and ESPN in the late afternoons and evenings).

Okay...we get it, we are wasting our time. Wow....just hanging around to rain on the parade are ya???

Really....you are missing the point.

Its just as much about the doing as it is getting the desired result.

Day Two (or is it Three) of our campaign. It's critical that we continue to put the pressure on NBCU.

I think this is a great idea and I'm going to do it. I also suggest you take any of the messages you've already sent and send them to the big kahuna himself

jeff.zucker@nbcuni.com

They're expecting us to quiet down. Let's show them how wrong they are.

Another turning point;
a fork stuck in the road.

Time grabs you by the wrist;
directs you where to go.

So make the best of this test
and don't ask why.

It's not a question
but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs
and still frames in your mind.

Hang it on a shelf
In good health and good time.

Tattoos of memories
and dead skin on trial.

For what it's worth,
it was worth all the while.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

I'm sorry that most are taking this so hard..I hope your endeavors to write letters and postcards work. I really do...I'd like to say no one loves Robert more then me...but theres some pretty stiff compitition around here! If they leave then I will soilder on and continue to watch, though I really think that the show wont last long. Which may be for the best. I dont see LOCI as fluff and quirky...I liked it as a drama, and it should continue as a drama. Jeff Goldblum isnt to blame, he's probably like, ah man...your kidding?! I have to start this whole show all over? The fans are gonna HATE me! He has some pretty big shoes to fill...size 13 wink.gif

Chin up ladies...this too shall pass. Though it would be nice if USA would write a statement, blog, twitter...something to alleviate some of the panic around here.

The Reel is reporting that filming for the two part season send off starts filming on October 16th - that gives us about two weeks to get our point across!!

Resend those emails and drop off those postcards!

Post this info. everywhere you see a LOCI fan!

InfinityStar got the IMDB boards last nite.....need to keep posting it on facebook and all the social networking sites and any blogs you know about....although most blogs are already running with info!

Off to resend my emails!

Agreed. And if USA Network learns that I'm leaving, regardless of whether or not they keep VDO and Erbe, then it wasn't a waste of time.

BTW, according to hoovers.com, USA Network had revenue of $1.089 billion dollars in the fiscal year ending December 2005. I will scurry off later to find out more current numbers.

Here's the math: at $350K per episode, they need $2.1 million to keep VDO at the same level as before for 6 additional eps, and the same for Erbe, assuming she is in the opening 2 hour show. That's $4.2 million, which sounds like a lot, but really isn't for a billion dollar corporation, especially given how much revenue LOCI must generate for this network.

To the naysayers: I know times are tough. Charley's right--we all get it. But sometimes in business you have to look to the future as much as to the present. Sometimes a business can incur a modest amount of debt (and I will argue that $4.2 million is peanuts compared to whatever the 2008 - 2009 numbers are) in order to not lose business in the future. A great many of us are leaving. Why would you sacrifice that for that (in TV land standards) meager amount of money?

Edited to add: Thinking about it some more (post-caffeine smile.gif ), USA really only needs to come up with $2.1 million to run a full season 9 with both Goren and Eames, since their offer was apparently $175K per episode per actor. That means $2.1 million was already budgeted for, cutting the above figure in half, to only $2.1 million to find.

Just my opinion.

Would someone be kind enough to throw up a blog site where we can JUST post contact info, blog links, the postcard link and such?

I can do it this evening when I get home if no one can do it today.

All your great info. gets lost in the posts and new people may not want to sift through all of it - same with the blogs.

Just a page where everything is easy to get to - I will run my circles and get the link to the page posted everywhere I know of.

Gotta make like the N1H1 virus and SPREAD!!!

Okay...that was lame...but ya know what I mean!

A good idea, is to create one email to be sent to all email addresses. Its way quicker.

Then save that email and do like i have been doing. Pressing send again (With slight variations) everytime i check my emails.
