Hi everyone,
Here's the scenario in this thread:
Goren, Eames, and Ross are leaving. You are the head writer for LOCI. How does the Goren/Eames story end?
You can write how you hope it will end, or how you think it will end, or both.
Hopefully this will get us into a more hopeful happily-ever-after (whichever way you see that) place.

Sad ending - Eames dies, bobby can't cope...leaves. (Ross...?)
happy ending (unlikely in two hours) - bobby finds a nice woman and leaves. Eames can't cope. leaves.
OR Eames finds a nice man (more likely) bobby can't cope...yadda........
some kind of undercover thing?
hostage situation? Ross dies....eames is injured....leaves....bobby goes off to work elsewhere.
Bobby just goes off to be with the new family he found and eames goes to work elsewhere.... Ross........??
Ross and Eames get married. Bobby can't cope...
OH. Bobby finds out that Eames has been sleeping with Nichols since they partnered up.....leaves.

We KNOW Bobby doesn't die at least. He cant come back for guest spots if he's dead. So at least we know they can't go that route...
I HOPE it ends in a satisfying way. that's all.

I'm going to have to mull this over because right now I have NO ideas. Except that I would like to see Ross made Chief of Detectives....and maybe show up once in a while. For Goren and Eames....I don't know. I can't really imagine them doing anything else right now.

I will say they really owe it to us to tie up the family angle with Bobby. The whole show was nothing but family life stuff for Goren during seasons 6 and 7, so we need to find out what happened to Donnie. Fleshing out Molly the niece would be a plus but I do expect at least one line about Donnie, given that Goren darn near lost his career and life over that kid.

Can I post my random thoughts from in the upper threads here? At first, my main concern was that something would happen to Eames, but I'm sincerely hoping I'm wrong. So, right now I'm going to have to say that my hopes would be that:
Either Ross becomes Chief of D's, takes Eames with him as his assistant and Goren leaves for a more challenging position - possibly returning to the CID or becoming a profiler for the FBI OR
Goren, Eames and Ross are selected to head an elite task force OR
Fed up with the NYPD and the politics going on, Goren and Eames leave the NYPD and start a private detective agency (Major Case) and hire on Logan, Wheeler and Deakins. Ross, who is now the Chief of Ds, will send any and all major crimes their way to be solved since USA has decided to make Nichols 'fluffy and fun'...
The task force is my first choice, so that we could imagine our 'team' together even though we won't be seeing them. I would hope that whatever the writers decide, they at least make it a closure fitting three talented actors and the characters that we fans have grown to care for and respect. The fact that VDO may be making guest appearances leaves me hopeful that we'll get an insight into what Goren's future will hold and maybe through Goren will hear about Eames and Ross.

I have decided not to watch their last episode. I will DVR it and only watch it if they are given a happy send-off.
I would just die if either Goren or Eames were killed off, with the other leaving the force in despair.

I don't see any plausible way to end this in 2 eps. But, if I had to say what I think will happen: Bobby will get a lead on Donny and take a temporary leave to chase it. In later eps, we will hear from someone (who the hell knows who, since everyone's gone) that Bobby found Donny and is either living w/ him or nearby. Eames will stay on for a few more eps w/ a new partner or just leave after the first 2-parter, being faced w/ breaking in a permanent new partner, and also get a new job offer. She'll decide to take the new job since Goren and Ross are also making new starts. Ross, who knows why he'll leave, maybe a transfer. Totally hate that we'll never see the full progression to a new, happy Bobby w/ true fulfillment in his life. There's just no way to do that logically in 2 eps. And, some of us believe Bobby and Alex could be happy together at the end of the series. No time to do that, either. I was really enjoying analyzing their personal lives.

I don't think Bobby will leave to take a new job. Not that he isn't sane enough or smart enough to get a better job, but I really think his main focus, now, is his personal life. That means being w/ family. How to wrap it up in 2 eps? He catches a lead on Donny or gets a call from him, or decides to be near his "new" family from Faithfully.

I'm with you about Ross, I'd like to see him get promoted. How about Goren goes to Quantico? It would be really ironic considering how Jo Gage couldn't cut it there and Declan favours Bobby more (that's if he's still thought about him since their last encounter). Or he could quit the force and become a professor, I can see him doing that

Eames I'm not quite sure, perhaps a transfer, I can't see her quitting the force anytime soon. Although one thing I think we all can agree on:
NO DEATH SCENES! - it's lazy writing!!

Or...Alex and Bobby throw a tizzy fit and get Ross fired. naaa just kidding..
I think that Ross will get promoted or transfered...with Wheeler..they kinda came in a pair right? Alex , lets see...she wanted to make captian but was afraid Robert would hold her back right? Well maybe it doesnt, and she gets her promotion and own squad room...and Robert...well.
Ok, remember when Wheeler's water broke? And Alex walked in to tell the captian something about Goren? Where did Alex say Goren was calling from? Perhaps he was getting transfered there...wasnt it in MI? Where his niece is from? I dont remember...

I'm sure he stays on the force, why else would he come back in guest appearances if not to help on a case? He wont quit. He loves his job too much...what did Alex say once?, Just like my partner, wants to be left alone to do what he's good at, catching bad guys.
Like everyone else, I hope there isnt any deaths...well maybe Ross...lol...sorry, he just hasnt grown on me..(he was always so mean to Robert!)...but It would be very very sad indeed if Alex died. I would see no point in it. Unless its to drive Goren nuts and their gonna end it with him strapped to a table.....ooh...damn...sorry again, I'm rambling...theres so many possibilities...it can go either way!
NO DEATHS! LET THEM ALL GO OUT IN A BLAZE OF GLORY!

Long time board reader, first time poster.
Like everyone here, I am freaking ticked (trying to be polite) that VDO, KE and EB are out. Stupid a** network execs....
Here's my thoughts for the ending....
Ross is close to his sons, so I see the ex leaving with the boys and Ross moving to be closer to them.
The idiot Chief of D's decides to put one of his cronies in over Major Case, with the sole purpose of getting rid of Goren. He does everything he can to hogtie the squad's best detectives and in the process, he completely bungles a very big case (perhaps something based on all the sudden reports of attempted terror attacks).
Goren and Eames solve the case in the nick of time. When above mentioned crony and Chief of D's try to take credit for the success in an effort to cover their incompetance, Goren finally has enough, exposes the incompetence and politicking in a spectacularly public way and basically tells them to go to hell, leaving in a blaze of glory.
As a result, the top brass calls for a task force to review procedures, etc., and Eames is asked to serve on it. Heading up the task force is our old friend, former Captain Deakins, finally fully vindicated.
Fast forward a few months, and Eames drives out to a small private home in upstate NY to visit her old partner, who is doing some writing and case profiling on the side and finally at peace with himself. They share one last knowing look between each other and Eames leaves.
Now, if I were totally evil and could figure out a good way for this to work, the final scene would be the phone ringing, Goren picking it up and a voice on the other side saying, "Hello Bubby..." before fading to black.

I like the idea of Ross moving on/up and Eames going with to assist. Perhaps he’ll be put in charge of task force or something. Eames has worked well under him and has had experience in various different areas (in Major Case they handled all sorts of crimes as well as time in vice).
When Bobby hears that Ross is leaving I think Bobby will choose to go elsewhere/leave the force. He has just started getting along with Ross and now he would have to get another captain. I don’t think he would go through that again. I think he’ll move somewhere he has family (perhaps the family that popped up from out of nowhere last season) or move where he still has friends. I want him to have a happy ending; for it to be Bobby’s choice to leave. I’m still holding out hope for Eames to be partnered with Nichols (since her deal’s not finalized I can dream), but if that doesn’t happen… she decides to take a position on Ross’s new task force. She wouldn’t want to stick around after Bobby decides to go and Ross leaves (unless of course she’s partnered with Nichols!).
I got the feeling all last season that Bobby wasn’t really with us. Yes, I know others will disagree.

My personal feeling is that they were showing Bobby to be disillusioned and starting to distance himself from the job. He’s been through a lot and it is all due to his job (except for his mother’s sickness).
I would like reiterate what others have said: HAPPY ENDING PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, death has been the writer’s cop-out of the last year in almost every series I watch. Could we please just have people moving on? Please?

I don't know exactly what I want to see, but I do want to see Goren and Eames continuing to work together, even though they're not at MCS anymore. The whole show has been built around the partnership of Goren/Eames, and how they stick by each other through thick and thin. She breaks rules for him. He'd do anything for her. I think their future necessarily involves each other--they're too tight and joined at the hip. And since they're a team, they should remain off camera as a team indefinitely. Just my 2 cents.

G/E exit from LO:CI
Ross takes a bigger/better position with private security agency in NYC - for better money- boys are college age, lots of financial pressure from divorce, economic downturn etc - Their mother has left with a younger man - and he is the full time dad now
ME Rogers is upset - scene with Eames where she talks about how unsure she is about where she fits into Ross's life - has she been in his life because they work together?- or is it real? does she fit in with his boys? what happens to their personal relationship when she doesn't see him everyday at work?
Eames listens - as does a unnoticed Goren who was coming into morgue concerning a case when Rogers has this breakdown - Alex tells her how hard it is to juggle work duties and personal feelings , how hard it is to be a woman in a man's world- that the worst part is the not knowing what is buried and left undone and unsaid because of the job - or what isn't there in the other persons heart -
a few episodes later, both Declan Gage and Jo have died and Goren is suddenly very rich - books by an academic turned into serial killer and father of female serial killer have generated huge profits- and he is the beneficiary
he leaves the force to head a foundation that assists families that are victims of serial killers get their lives back - he does not want to personally profit from the Gage mess - but no longer works full-time at Major Case NYPD- consults on cases when he is not traveling around assisting the survivors of crimes
Eames remains at major case with new boss and partner for a short time, its not hard for her to accept a transfer to precinct to be a captain -Goren is out of town when this opportunity becomes available, she calls him on phone to say its just not the same anymore- in her new office she receives a congratulations package -a delivery from Goren - she opens it to find his mothers engagement ring and a note saying that she never has to wonder about his true feelings--- she slips it on her hand and begins the day of work -

I have been wondering if maybe, Goren does something under the radar again to get himself into trouble, and Eames and Ross get involved and cover for him like they did in "Untethered." Remember, they acted "in discrediting ways that will be dually noted in their jackets."
Another theory I have is: Eames and Goren have had a relationship all along, and now they have to leave the Department because of it. Maybe Ross is let go because he knew and did nothing to stop/discourage it.

I like cheesy endings so :
A little lost boy is brought into the precinct and everyone is amazed at how smart and observant he is. He also has an endearing habit of cocking his head to the side when he's asking a question. ( that's a clue in case you didn't know) His frantic mother runs in and scoops him up in her arms, her eyes widen when she sees Bobby. * soap opera music * Bottom line she's Bobby's long lost love and after much cheesy melodrama they get back together, he finds out the kid is his son, he realizes a family is all he ever wanted, yada, yada. We are reduced to blubbering emotional wrecks but smile bravely through our tears because Bobby has found happiness, finally. * mops eyes and blows nose *
Ross gets a promotion and Eames goes with him.
What? I said it was cheesy.

Just the thought of this makes my head hurt. Sigh.
I no longer trust the network or the writers. Or Dick Wolf, for that matter. But I do trust VDO and Katie Erbe. So, what I think would be a suitable ending...
I doubt very much that Goren and Eames would be done with each other after all this time and all they've been through. They were just getting over it all and getting their stride back. (Stupid network) So whatever happens, I think they will remain close.
I can see Eames getting that promotion she deserves, maybe captain of Vice? Ross will most likely get transferred. Bobby is a more troublesome case to figure out (imagine that). I would love to see him go to Quantico as an instructor, but the job has always meant so much to him. He lives for the thrill of the chase and it's what he does best. I can't see him doing anything else. He is such a natural profiler with such a deep understanding of human nature and the criminal mind. Of course, I would laugh if he decided to take the path less traveled and turn to a life of crime, but I can't see that happening either, given his strict, uncompromising moral compass. How could he spend his entire life seeking justice, only to abandon it in mid-life?
Whatever happens, I hold out hope that they do him justice. He deserves as much. Dignity. Yeah, he deserves dignity.
Ooooh--shower scene ala Dallas! Bobby wakes up from a dream and finds out the last 10 years never happened. He actually is a criminal, partnered with Nicole Wallace instead of Alex Eames... Yeah... That's the cop-out scenario. I'm still stunned.
Did I mention...stupid network.

I am bummed about reading the latest regarding VDO,KE,and EB. Here is what I think should happen:
The Chief of D's has always been a little shady to me. This idea stems from the rat placed in Goren's drawer in Purgatory (which I believe could have been done by the Chief). Anyway, Goren and Eames become involved in a case with Nichols and the new detective. Eventually, Goren suspects the Chief and some bad cops. The Chief realizes that Goren is on to him so he gets a bad cop to try to kill Goren (car accident, shooting, etc). Goren gets majorly hurt. Ross, Eames and etc solve the crimes and the Chief loses his job, Ross is promoted to Chief, Eames leaves major case, and Goren survives but leaves major case too (and VDO makes cameo appearances once in a while).

Actually, to be perfectly honest, I was never satisfied with how they put a end to the whole Nicole storyline. I always thought that if/when LOCI ended, it would be with Bobby bringing her to justice in a way that tested him in every way possible but ultimately brought him a validation of sorts.
Whatever exit TPTB dreams up, it's got to be one that honors the heart and soul that VDO has poured into the character of Bobby Goren.

NOO!!
Unless the kid is me.

::cough, cough, choking... gasp::
No... WAIT! I am the frantic mother!!!!!! YAY!
WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!! Word, Krod! I need to know that Donny is alive, and after his prison sentence, Bobby and Donny can be a family!!! I mean, Bobby couldn't have gone through 'Untethered' for NOTHING! Something good has to come out of it!
(Well, I know it caused an investigation to be opened on Tates, and the truth came out about how the boy died, and the family would probably want to press charges on the warden, etc.... Those are good things that came out of that, but I'm talking about good things for Bobby...)
WE NEED TO SEE NICOLE'S DEAD BODY!!!
(Was I yelling loud enough? Did the writers hear me?)
::Sigh::
After more than a year...I'd really prefer not to see Nicole's body.

Wow-I really like that one! It's plausible and would give an actual sense of closure! Maybe someone at L&O will read this ;-)
On the other hand....I would love to hear Olivia D'Abo's voice one more time!
