Evening Everybody..

Just thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for those who will be leaving the CI universe when Goren and Eames (Vincent and Kathryn) leave aswell...

I think Jeff Goldblum is a great actor and plays an interesting character on the show. But he doenst have enough to hold this show up without the characters who started it in the very beginning...

For me - it started with Goren and Eames, and will end with Goren and Eames. Hopefully they will give these two brillian characters the ending they deserve...

So, lets start the ranting!

I'm out.

The only reason I have watched the show these past few years as well as every season on DVD is for Goren and Eames. I have only been hanging in thus far because I knew that every other show I would get an opportunity to watch them in action. I think the show is boring with Goldblum and I find his overacting as annoying as Horatio on CSI: Miami. The pilot Gopldblum had on NBC a couple of years back did not even make it one season so I don't understand why USA thinks that he can carry CI on his own. Bad, bad move!!! Whomever has been making programming decisions for USA should be axed.

me too...im out when the last epi with bobby and alex rolls off the screen. and buddy you better believe i REFUSE to watch any other USA programing except LOCI reruns with VDO.

I'm gone when Goren is gone...... mad.gif
Alysaw
I have only watched episodes with Goren and Eames so I won't be watching anymore.

I've tried and I've tried and as strange as it seems
I can't watch the show without Goren and Eames
When put to the test
Their acting's the best
They out think the bad guys, the crooks and the fiends.

I love it when Bobby bends over to look
Right in the face of a shifty eyed crook
Or invades their space
With that look on his face
That says I've snagged you sinker and hook.

Jeff was okay as that hideous fly
Vincent much better as cockroach guy
Both played their parts
With all of their hearts
But Goren's the best on LOCI.

word.
when Vincent D'Onofrio & Katherine Erbe are gone, I'm gone.

it's so funny, I've been noticing lately that I seem to be seeing less & less of Vincent/Loci.
CI used to come on everyday at 4, 8, & 11 (on channel 6 & 9; the same episodes were shown 3x a day), and on 'Slueth' at 10 pm. First they moved the 11 show to 11:30 (this week the 11:30 show turned to SVU...), then the 8pm show turned to inside edition. and now at 10 Sleuth show SVU, instead of CI. sad.gif

I'm a gonna too. Never have and never will watch any of the fluff series on USA. Even if VD returns for a few cameos it won't mean a whole lot w/o KE. JG is OK but CI will never be what is was (a serious drama with relevant/current crime topics) if they turn it into another "Psych" (heaven forbid). I now await the new season of the mothership about to start in 15 minutes. Maybe this will take my mind off this awful day...God, I will miss Vince and Katherine...Jim, Columbus, OH
vfiler
I am no longer going to watch ANYTHING on USA!!!! I have watched this show since it first started.
Without Goren and Eames it isn't Law And Order Ci. It's just another cop show with Jeff G. Since
I don't like him all I have to say is .......GOODBYE. mad.gif

I was a "fan of the week" a while back......USA do me a favor and delete that please. I don't want to be associated with this network in any way! I am definitely no longer a fan!
HeathersInAZ
I'm a VDO fan 1st and a CI fan 2nd!

I won't continue to watch after he's gone, but count me in for any return visits he'll make to the show (honestly, not holding my breath for that, though).

USA has taken every reason (for me at least) away to want to continue to watch and support this show. If they'd kept Kathryn on the show It could have persuaded me to tune in, but with her out too (see below), and rumors that the premise of the show is going lighter and fluffier to fit in with all the other USA original content, this show isn't going to be the same.

I'm pretty certain that I'd read online somewhere that VDO and KE were in agreement that they wouldn't work on the show without each other (package deal). Which isn't uncommon a thing for actors to do in support of each other?? so I'd like to believe that both Vincent and Katie were just ready to move on and that's what they're doing...hopefully right into movie/television/theater roles

I just hope they get a worthy send off. They deserve more than to just be gone with no explanation (Barek, Falacci and Logan) and We deserve to not have to see them die, split up or fired...
redheaded_tigger
I'm out too--no Goren and Eames, no tigger. I am as huge an Eames fan as I am a Goren fan, BTW, but Goren and Eames are necessarily together--peanut butter and jelly.

No more USA for me either. LOCI with its seriousness kept the network tolerable, and now they're throwing out the 14 carat gold to make way for a remade costume jewelry "LOCI Lite". Yech.
ciaddict
I understand why so many of you are leaving LOCI with G/E, but I'm wondering....are you leaving the message board as well? I hope not.
charley_4
I generally lurk and not post....

No Goren....no Charley.

I'm out.

No USA shows of any kind....I find most of them intolerable already - this just sealed the deal.

So...count me out too.

I hope TPTB are avidly reading this thread.

I'll stay, just because I really like Goldblum. But I can imagine myself coming on this website everyday as it stagnates into nothing. My cat makes me happy too, they should come over to my house and kill my cat just to finish the job.

Belle0308
Actually, I joined this forum just in order to say GOODBYE to my favorite two. I won't watch the show again without them. I can't really understand how they would even consider this the same show. I guess I also don't know why this is happening.

take that away from us.

i love goren and eames., when they are gone from the show i will stop watch it. but i will stay on here.

I registered like others just to say goodbye to my favorite Detectives! I was excited Jeff Goldblum was coming to the show but then he bored me.....I only started watching CI about 1 1/2 years ago so there are LOTS of reruns I can occupy my time with....Sadly to say that when they leave, so do I!
QueenB2151
I honestly dont believe LOCI will last another full season. Keeping in mind that not only are we losing our beloved Goren and Eames but we are also losing Wheeler, whom has grown on me. I also heard that we are losing Captain Ross and our Sunday time slot. A show that wasnt that popular to begin with simply cannot bounce back from that many changes. LOCI is not the mothership and cant last 20 seasons. They will be lucky to last the rest of season 9 without our beloved Goren and Eames.
I have been watching the show for about 5 years and am not sad to say that when they leave so am i.
janpop4
Like I said at another website, if Goren comes back, I'll be there but other than that, I am leaving with Goren and Eames. The show will never be the same without them.

I loved this show so much because of them two! They'll never be forgotten! I'll cherish what we have of them!

I just wish that they'll give our team a satisfying ending sad.gif After all these BRILLIANT years...

Count me gone after the last Goren/Eames episode. It almost killed me when Logan left (I've adored him since the time he was on the mothership), but I knew the show would still retain its integrity because Goren and Eames were there.

I never took to JG. He was a pale imitation of the "quirky" Goren with a little Monk thrown in.

This is a sad day indeed.

I'm out, but I will still be on the message board
SayingGoodbye
Created an account just to add to the growing numbers that I'll stop watching the moment Goren (and Eames) are gone. Despite what Wolfe thinks, Goren is the show, not the story - without him, there is no LOCI.

I think its amusing how a number of us, including me, have just joined for the purpose of being about the talk about this. On other message boards, there are people trying to be hopeful, and thats just annoying to me at this point. You can't take a series close to 10 years in its run and ditch its central characters that have been with the show since day 1 and expect it to work. Seriously what TV exec in their right mind actully thinks this will work??? On other boards its so bothersome to read people saying well its just like the origional L&O with cast changes. Well no, the origional changed it up every few years never giving audiences time to become attached to the characters. For me, CI has become more about G & E than the criminals.....seriously the formula will never change, someone murders someone, theres a twist, they're caught in the end. That became old years ago. Its the characters ppl love that make the show. I really think USA will be kicking themselves after this.

As for making CI 'lighter' thats just stupid, and theres no other way to put it. It didn't become popular by being 'fluff', what makes USA think they can make it work as fluff?? I hate USAs fluff shows, most of them are just pointless. What a sad day
SecretPhoenix
Wow i never expected just how many people would hold this in the same regard as i have!

Im not sure whose decision it was to not complete the contracts for another season. If it was Vincent and Kathryns choice to leave I fully support them and any decisions they make. I wish them well and i will continue to support and watch all of their work. I dislike the idea that USAnetwork will continue this show without the main characters who have made this show brilliant. I will thank the network for at least giving us an episode or two to say goodybe. I dearly hope that they will give them the proper send off they deserve.

For those who believe CI is about the stories. I agree. The stories are part of what makes this show brilliant. But from that very first eisode, it wasnt the story that made me come back. It was the characters. It was Goren and Eames biggrin.gif

I couldn't agree more with every word you say.
I also think it's totally different from the original L&O. *that* show was about the crime stories. Period. LOCI has always been *also* about the characters, not only the crime stories. Then, thinking that cast changes won't affect the show is *so* naive. And I will say naive, because I'm trying to be polite here. I'd better not start on the "fluff" thing...

Anyway, I think I'll give JG and the new cast a chance. If I have the time and opportunity, I will watch the episodes. But if I miss some, I don't think I'll be buying them on iTunes or tape them on TV...
tessluvsv
Once Vincent is gone I will never watch CI again....Because it WON'T be CI.

No matter what they do, no matter what kind of spin they put on it...Law And Order Criminal Intent Is Dead.

Way to go USA....
bammi
When Vincent goes, I go. I already sent feedback to USA, stating this. If you want you can go to the USA board, and at the bottom right there is a place for feedback.

Bobby Goren is Criminal Intent. The character was specially written for Vincent, and Vincent made it his own. There can never be anyone to take the place of Goren. So, except for the few episodes he'll be in, I'm gone. I refuse to watch anyone even try to replace Goren. It can't be done.
globetrottersara
Like I said on another board too...

I was tempted to send a feedback message. I went to feedback page here but then I looked at the message form and thought the chances someone reads my (our) message(s) are very few. There may be even more than one person, reading the feedbacks, but they might be more interested in reading the messages about technical problems regarding the website, rather than those about the characters and how fans are unhappy with the network's decisions, be them for money matters or else.

I've always known the entertainment business has always been about the money, especially the TV shows. If it wasn't, they would be a tiny bit more respectful to fans. But we all tend to forget the money business behind our favorite shows. I did it too. Because I like a show and when I watch it I don't want to think of who's paying who and why and how much and will it last or not...

Then, sending a message to the network certainly is a legitimate thing to do, to show our discontent regarding their policy. But right now, I don't think they are worth my time and energy. I'd rather talk with you guys, instead of putting myself to write a polite but firm message to a USA network intern who'll probably hit the 'delete' button on my email, along with many others I'm sure he/she is receiving right now.

Maybe I'll send my message some other day...

Addendum edit: I just got the official updates from USA network on their facebook thing... I left a comment there. That's about all they'll get from me for now; I also highly doubt they read those comments too, anyway tongue.gif

I have heard, that along with Vincent... Kathryn and Eric will also be leaving

If Eames was staying, i could almost be convinced to continue watching... I love Eames just as much as Goren.

But with them both going... There is absolutly no point in continuing to watch. They have taken it all away now.

And if they are not given a decent send off... Watch out!!
TJara
I can see myself watching, now and then, but I can't see myself getting through the trouble of obtaining the eps like this past season, so I will see them when they air over here, and if I miss some, I miss some.

I'm still new to LOCI, but Vincent has brought an intensity to Bobby Goren that translates right to my interest in this character. This show has never been an ensemble show, not even with the alternating leads. Hence I think Bobby & Alex should be there when the last curtain falls, they sticked with the show for eight years, they really deserve it.

I hope Kathryn and Vincent go onto many new projects, I really enjoy their talent, especially Vincent's, and I hope to see more of him.

I will stay with the board, there's still lots to talk about!!

Yes i am with you all as well i'am out because as most of you have said the show is not the same without our beloveable Goren and partner Eames I have tried watching the other shows without them,in and it is not the same because as most of you have said they had made the show sad.gif but i will probably be staying on the board

Before all the CRAZY of the last two days wrt LO:CI - I watched the episode Albatross (a DVR on rainy day thing). It is a great hour of television with VDO and KE acting in great sync - you actually think you are watching 2 detectives discover who shot the judge during the Burr duel. The dialogue between them is smart - the "are we alright?" question posed by Goren as the investigation heads close to Eames idol is classic.

I hate to be losing that entertainment. Its not in a petty or childish manner that I won't be watching after VDO and KE leave, its that their dynamic was the reason to watch. There are too many crime shows to count, most of them are very repetitive and unoriginal. Thats exactly what USA has done with Goldblum - he is a copy of Goren without the Eames - since they have planned on VDO and KE exits for over a year - as everyone on this board is now referencing - why did they not make him a unique character instead of a 3 inch taller Goren?? BORING.
vfiler
WOW......I went to another site (yahoo Message boards) and over 99% of people said they will no longer

watch the show once VDO and KE leave. It had over 1,700 posts! I thought I was mad.....some people are

so upset they can't seem to keep profanity out of their posts. I now have no question in my mind that this

show has a lot of loyal fans who agree with me.... No Goren & Eames No show. Too bad USA ,it looks like

you have certainly made a lot of enemies.

same on the USA facebook page... only comments of people not going to watch the show anymore...

Say goodbye to the fan base, USA Network wink.gif That was such a smart move... really smart, uhuh...
WinterOpal
I came back to see if members were as upset as I am. Obviously the answer is yes. I like Goldblum. As a long-standing SF nerd, I might even be considered a fan. But he's no Goren. As with most of you, I won't watch the show and will boycott USA.

Over the years I've enjoyed reading many of you. Love the shipping posts. Thanks for being a bright spot in my life.
NiceTryTho
D'Onofrio is a genius. Long after I quit watching L&O and SVU, I couldn't miss CI just because of his brilliance as an actor. So I am sadly adding my name to the list as one who is leaving with Goren and Eames.
Carlton
What in the world are they thinking about? The show without Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe will be pitiful. This show will go completely down the drain without them. I did not watch one show with Jeff Goldblum this year, but I watched all the one's with Goren and Eames. When they go, I go also. Thanks

I urge all the fans of Vincent and kate to send your messages to USA and NBc we have a right to be angry and they should know, I'm sure you're right they may simply hit the delete button but bombard them anyway, I hope he or she gets carple tunnel by hitting all the deletes. I leave when the two-parter is aired( God knows when as I have to wait for NBC or CTV) but the moment I hear the closing notes of that show I am officially no longer a viewer of C.I. They can also change the title of the squad while there at it, from Major Case Squad to Minor Case Squad. While I know Vince is quoted as saying Goren might pop up from time to time, there has to be a show to come back to and with the light and airy crap they are going to put out as drama the chances are slim to none that there will be a season 10. USA has really stepped in it big time, by cutting costs they have slapped us all in the face, and I for one don't like it one bit, keep the protests coming and don't pull your punches they don't deserve civility, insult merits insult!!!!!!!!!
MsSweden
If you want to send a message to USA that will be read, e-mail the Director of USA Network Publicity and tell her what a huge public relations mistake this is for USA.

andrea.epstein@nbcuni.com

Or you can leave a voice mail message at 818-777-6679.

Why do you think USA leaked this story on a Friday? So USA management could all sneak out for the weekend and hope the hubbub dies down by Monday. Why do you think USA scheduled a LOCI marathon than spans today (Saturday) and tomorrow? Throwing us a bone, hoping to quiet us down.

Let's not be quieted down. As someone else said on another thread all of USA's success has gone to the heads of those running it. As yet another member said, by spring LOCI will have been relocated to someplace warm and sunny and where (I might add) Saffron Burrows will have ample opportunity to show off her skin.

USA thinks we fans are stupid. Just a dumb mob. But we are the people who helped make USA a success and we need to let them know as directly as possible that there will be con sequences to their idiot actions.

Just emailed Andrea Epstein, even if they don't read it. Out of respect for the actors, I just had to send it. I will probably continue to watch, but only because VDO said he might make guest appearances. Anything about Bobby, I want to hear or see. But, considering the amount of people who have already stated they won't continue to watch, they should either reconsider the decision or cancel the show. Of course, I can't see Vincent agreeing to come back in full capacity unless it's for the fans. This is just terrible. The only positive thing is that Vincent is the #3 search in popularity on Yahoo, today. At least he's getting some attention and people care about him.
