So M2Y, as promised, here it is.

Everyone else, this is my first fic, a WIP but will add as and when I can, need to write more to it, have the second chapter ready but no further yet! I apologize for any typos in advance, chances are they is some there that Ive not noticed!

After nine years of being Detective Elliot Stabler's work partner and best friend, Detective Olivia Benson could handle it no more. She wanted nothing more then to be Elliot's lover, his soul mate, his wife, his everything. She could only live in hope that one day, he would feel the same way about her. She knew deep down though that he never would. To her, this was something that she had slowly learnt to live with.

To her, Elliot was happily married. Being one not to talk about his feelings to anyone, Olivia had no idea that things between him and his wife Kathy were not as they should be. Kathy had had enough of being second to Elliot's job that she wanted out. Elliot wanted to try and work it out for the kids sake, but Kathy had decided to leave.

For a few days, Elliot had been a bit distant. Trying to be the good friend that she was, Olivia wanted Elliot to talk to her. After a particularly horrid case at work, they went for a drink.

'What has been up with you today, El?' Olivia asked. Looking at her, he wanted to tell her, he just couldn't find the words. Would she think anything less of him if he told her that his marriage had failed?

'I really dont want to go into it Liv, can we just leave it?' Why wont he talk to me, Olivia thought? What is going on, what is so bad?

'Look El, I'm worried about you, you know where i am if you want to talk' Looking at her, he decided what the heck, things cant get any worse. He suddenly realised how attractive she was, sitting there with concern all over her face.

'Ok Liv, you want to know whats up? well I'll tell you. Kathy left me, after nearly 20 years together, she had enough of coming second. Had enough of me seeing you more then her. Not to mention.....you know what, forget it.'

'Forget what?' Olivia asked, thinking sadly. She hated seeing Elliot like this.
'Forget what I just told you, its not like it will change anything' Elliot replied.

Not taking no for an answer, she kept on at him. 'Please El, just talk to me.' Olivia asked sadly.

'Kathy left me because she convinced herself that we were having an affair and that I was in love with you, not her. There you go, I told you, now will you get of my case?' Elliot snapped back at her.

Shocked, Olivia cant believe what he has just told her. 'Kathy thinks you're in love with me?' Olivia whispered with a shocked expression.

Looking up at her, Elliot only replied with a nod. Thinking to himself, he added I wished I could tell you that Kathy is right, that I do love you. Instead he says nothing, nothing seems right to say without overstepping the line.

'So what did you tell her?' Olivia asked, as if reading his thoughts. 'What could I tell her Liv? the truth, that she is right, that I am in love with you, not her? I Couldnt not tell her.' Thinking to herself, Olivia is shocked, did he just admit that he is in love with me? That he feels the same way I do about him? I wonder if he knows?

'What did she say El?' Olivia needed to know, 'She told me to stop fooling myself and to look at what is right in front of me. She told me that it was time to stop pretending that everything was fine between us and that it'd be easier on everyone if we just went our seperate ways. Liv, can we change the subject please?' Elliot pleaded with her. Seeing the pain in his eyes, she decides that she cant, not right now, she needs to know the truth.

Very quietly, she asks Elliot 'Are you in love with me?'

Looking deeply into Olivia's eyes, he wasnt sure what to say, do I tell her the truth, is she ready for it he asks himself. Theres only one way to find out he guesses. 'Liv, I am in love with you' he replied waiting for her to get up and leave, after all someone as fantastic as her was not going to feel the same way.

Noticing Olivia still sitting opposite him with smirk on her face, he knew that all would be ok, she wouldnt turn her back on him. 'Liv, please say something instead of looking at me like that!'
'Well El, that has shocked me a bit to hear you say that but I guess I have always known, I just didnt want to believe it, didnt want to get my hopes up that someone I love would love me back.'

Getting up from her seat, she walks and sits down next to him. She is sitting so close to him that she can smell him and it overpowers her for a moment. Regaining her senses, she looks at him while he places her hand in his. This little gesture sends the butterflies in her stomach wild. He gives her his famous Stabler smile which she loves but has never admitted it. Still looking at him, she wants, no needs to feel his lips on hers. As if reading her mind, he leans towards her and his lips softly brush against hers, his free hand gently cradling her her chin. He rests his head against hers, smiling at her, unable to believe that his partner has let him kiss her!

Noticing that its getting late and that they have an early start in the morning, Olivia decides that its time for her to go home.

'El, its almost 11 and we've got to be at work at 7, I dont know about you but I really need to get some sleep, as much as I dont want to leave you now, my bed is calling me' and you she says in her head, she needs to be close to Elliot more then ever now.

Heres the next part, I had hoped to have more ready but kinda got sidetracked by a few 'cant-stop-reading' fics on FF!



'OK Liv, do you want me to drop you to your apartment?' He asks full of hope. 'Sure'

'Do you want to come up to mine for a bit, I think we need to talk' Olivia asks Elliot just as they arrive at her apartment. Knowing that it needs to be done he agrees. Both of them are caught up in their thoughts as they walk in silence up to Olivia's apartment.

'Do you want anything?' Olivia asks as they walk in her door. You are all I want, Elliot thinks for a moment. 'Im good thanks Liv' was his actual reply.

'El, what happens now? I mean you are still married to Kathy.' Sensing his partners fear, he knows he needs to reassure her.

'Liv, yes I am still married to Kathy, but I moved out a few weeks ago. We are in the process of getting a divorce, actually we are almost done with it. There is nothing to worry about'

'What if you decide that it is not me you want? Ive wanted to be with you for so long El that im scared' He looks at her and can see the fear in her eyes. He pulls her close to him and holds her.

'Liv, it wont be easy, but I promise that I will never hurt you.'

'El, will you stay tonight? Its just that I....I dont want to be alone right now' olivia asks quietly, barely above a whisper.

'Liv, to be honest, I dont think its the greatest idea for me to stay, but.....if you really want me to, I will. Are you going to tell me whats up?'

'Like I said, Im scared El, I just cant believe that you love me. Me who is so unworthy of your love. I just dont know if I can do this yet at the same time, I dont want you to leave me' She whispers.

'I dont know how to convince you that I wont leave or even hurt you, you need to trust me on this.'

'In time I will El, but right now, I need you to show me that I can believe what you are telling me. I know we were going to talk about this, but right now, I just want to sleep, do you want the sofa....or do you want to share my bed?'

'If you're sure its ok, I will share with you. But nothing can happen.' Eliot replies softly.

All Olivia can say is 'ok'. 'Im going to get a shower and get ready for bed, you can do what you want while I am' Olivia tells Elliot.

'Sure, I'll prob head for bed and wait for you!'

In the warm spray of the shower, Olivia starts thinking, wondering if its all a dream, and if it is, when she will wake up. She had long ago given up on love, and Elliot, knowing she was never going to get what she wanted. Now she is starting to get what she wants, she is wondering how long it'll last, hopefully forever. She grabs her favorite sower gel and washes herself down.

Stepping out of the shower, she grabs her towel and dries herself. She then puts on her pjs which consist of a pair of shorts and one of Elliot's old tshirts that found its way to her apartment.

Walking out of the bathroom and into the bedroom, Elliot is sitting up in bed waiting for her, thinking it'd be impolite for him to fall asleep in her bed without her. 'Nice top' he says with a smirk.

'Thanks' Olivia says a little shyly.

Pulling the covers to the side, Olivia climbs into her bed next to Elliot. 'What you thinking about El?' she asks him with curiosity. 'I would say nothing but we both know that thats not true. I'm thinking how lucky I am that you do feel the same way as I do about you......and that I am in your bed with you!' He laughs softly.

'Cheeky. It is pretty hard to believe really. So.....when can something happen?' she asks him as she really wants him to kiss her, the small kiss earlier had made her want more.

Looking at her with a smile on his face, wanting to be a tease, he leans towards her and kisses her gently on the lips, lingering for a few moments. 'That's all that can happen right now' he whispers in her ear. 'I think it is time we get to sleep now'


Sorry for leaving it there, I will update ASAP, hopefully after the weekend!

OMG, I am sorry, I really didnt want to be one that didnt update when they said!

Been really busy this week, had a stroppy three year old to deal with, work and housework! I am working on an update but finding it hard atm, but I promise to have it ready soon!
