My shipping disease pervades my everyday..... Like the songs I listen to. Sometimes there are a few that really stand out and describe certain moments and events in the Goren/Eames timeline.

So use this thread to post links, clips, lyrics, song titles, etc... That you think pertain to or describe how you see Bobby and Alex cool.gif
scarletbegonia
I guess I shall start the posting.

Even noromos might agree on this one. Notice I said might.

The lyrics to this song are simple and beautiful. As a shipper, they totally remind me of Bobby and Alex.

Another one that the noromos may like--same disclaimer as scarlet.

To Bobby, from Alex--as Bobby self-destructs:

Sorry--I'm in a sad mood worrying about the "in some capacity" line re: season 9 (see Season 9 thread on the main board).

Edited: Sorry--the previous link required a sign in. Try this instead. I wanted a studio recording, but I've now had to settle for a live version from YouTube, the first 1:35 of which is just vamping. More moving in the studio version, imo.

OK, and here is Bobby's (unspoken) response to Alex. Noromos--this is shippy. You have been warned.

Should be called "Alex's Song"(!) She's not in England, but she may as well be considering how far apart they'd become.

2. 'the secret marriage' - sting.
3. 'helplessly hoping' - crosby stills nash and young. okay, it's kind of dated, but i still think it's pretty apt.

Well, this one has a more beat full mood. Hope you guys like it. I think it's the perfect song for B/A (especially Eames' perspective)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyxcmIabTgM

This is a great idea scarlet.! Nicely thought and I really love your "You and I" song: sweet wub.gif

I have this other song, well I can say that it's rather sweetly lovey dovey but I love it so much. Can't stop thinking of mostly Bobby's perspective when I listen to it rolleyes.gif
This is what comes to my mind when I listen to it "Eames in trying to be a tough gal but Bobby sees her vulnerability and tries to make her open up about it" (it's usually the other way around, isn't it)

I really love this guy's voice!... Talking about Phil Collins, there's another song of his that reminds me of B/A in a strange way (all the protection thing and the bond between them can't be broken and so forth) And it does bring me to tears rolleyes.gif

Tigger!!! ::tackles to the ground and gives a big fluffy hug:: That is my all time favorite Genesis song!!! Aaand whenever I hear it I think of either one speaking to each other, especially these lines -

Alex -
Why should I have to be the one
Who has to convince you
Cos you know I know baby
That I don't wanna go.

Bobby -
Now who will light up the darkness
Who will hold your hand
Who will find you the answers
When you don't understand

Here is a link to the song on Genesis' page on MySpace - It is the Invisible Touch album, and the song is #7. I got excited when you posted that song, I don't know why, my mom laughed because I sort of yelped biggrin.gif

Another Genesis song that I love for Bobby & Alex is Hold On My Heart, #9. I picture this song as Bobby's thoughts, for example, lines like -

Ooh please dont rush in this time
Dont show her how you feel
--------------------------------
Whenever you want me to
Whenever you call oh I will be there
Yes I will be there
--------------------------------
Hold on my heart
Dont let her see you crying
No matter where I go
Shell always be with me

I remember that song, now every time I'll hear it I will think of Bobby & Alex. Another Simon & Garfunkel song for that reminds me of their friendship is Bridge Over Troubled Water (#3.) (If the link doesn't work, just put in - myspace.com/simonandgarfunkel)

Brown Eyed Girl? :thud: Bobby's brown eyed girl, Alex, that's cute.

scarlet -- thanks again for starting this thread! I've heard some nice tunes as I'm contemplating this rainy day in Washington.

uni -- ani difranco's "As Is"--ugh--but so true:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYe2NhwXhqk

bogoalexea -- the song I picked for Bobby is "Kathy's Song" by Simon and Garfunkel. You can search for that on youtube. Choose the version with just Simon singing and one guitar, because you know I'm sooo into symbolism-- the rain, the loneliness, the distance --it reminds me of the despair we see in the opening scene of Amends. Rabeka put in the myspace link to "Throwing It All Away" by Genesis, which is my Alex song. I like how it's pleading, and I think she uses those exact words in TWAH right before he tells her to "back off" in the elevator scene.

"You'll Be in My Heart" ::sniff:: I sang that for my cousin's funeral (died of cancer at 46), whose husband is a cop. Imagine being up in a choir loft in an old stone Catholic church--best acoustics--the music just reverberates over the congregation and off the walls. And this was the song we did as everyone was leaving down the center aisle--her husband Joe and the kids, followed by my family, followed by at least 100 Philadelphia city cops, all in their dress blues. Couldn't look down or I wouldn't be able to get through the song.

And the Addison Road song is perfect. Love that girl's voice.

cancer at 46 ... that's terrible. i'm sorry for your family's loss, tigger.

'As Is' - that's my daughter's favourite song by Ani. (unicorn puts on 'Little Plastic Castle') there's another one that brings eames to mind, on "Knuckle Down" (my new favourite Ani album) called 'Studying Stones' but i can't find a good link. sad.gif
I'm out here studying stones
trying to learn to be less alive

and there's a way older one that reminds me of their early relationship - from "Puddle Dive".
anyday
I will lean into you
you can be the wind
I will open my mouth
and you can come
rushing in

etc. wistful and hot.

bogoalexea - YES! those are my songs!!! you are freaking amazing.
the live copy of 'lovers in a dangerous time' does not do the song justice, though i love watching dude play his bass - one reason i love their version is because he bows his bass in the bridge of the song. also, that kicking backbeat.
and look at crosby, stills and nash - all 'old hippy guys' and still putting out vocal harmonies that make all my hair stand up and my guts get all liquidy. sheesh.
thanks for putting them up there.
everyone has such cool songs. this is FUN!

may i add another? it's one by the dixie chicks. (sorry - hella cheesy, but i love the chicks.)

Oooo I love you all. Thanks for the replies! I'm short on time today mad.gif Have to work sad.gif

I will go through and listen to these entries soon, hopefully by sometime tomorrow.

And yes ciaddict of course noromos can play as long as the playing stays nice(and I know it does with you ciaddict biggrin.gif ).

And being the resident hippie/ardent Black Crowes fan here are some lyrics that probably sum up Eames' anger right after the end of Purgatory. The music is here. But it might not be everyone's cup o' tea tongue.gif Remember I said it was angry....

Edited to add this song reminds me soooo much of Bobby. And yes I know it's a video from another show with detectives who long to be with one another. Yeah I'm a Moonlighting fan, try not to throw things or judge too much tongue.gif But a lot of the lyrics say Bobby...

especially- "Sometimes I panic,
What if nobody finds out who I am"

Nah, they're not just "old hippy guys". Every college pop/rock a cappella group has at least one of their songs in their repertoire. Back in the day, ours was "Our House", and some group came to campus for our show and did "Suite Judy Blue Eyes". Here are the lovely Colorado University "CUOntheRocks" girls doing "Helplessly Hoping":

I haven't heard a lot from Ani Defranco, but "As Is" is perfect. I always liked her song "I'm not a pretty girl" I could relate to those lyrics wink.gif

I love the Dixie Chicks and they're not cheesy. Just about one of the most talented chic-bands ever IMHO cool.gif

And speaking of the Dixie Chicks..

Post Purgatory (God there are too many post-Purgatory songs rolleyes.gif )

I'm scrambling to find something happier before I trot off to work.....

This is a little happier, I guess.

*Well when they have kids together they're going to have to teach them to eat their supper otherwise they won't get dessert. Lol (My mother doesn't always follow that rule)
**That's what I mean. I put an unnamed song on there.
Ok I read that post about Bobby being able to lift ALEX up on his shoulders. I daydreamed about that. I'll try to explain it.
Okay so I just imagined them aat the beach.
A: Please Bobby for me?
B: Alright for you.
Okay so they're at the beach.
*B and A get in the water*
(B kneels down) B* Alex get on my shoulders.
A* Why?
B* You'll see
(A climbs on B's shoulders)
(B stands up)
(A grabs onto B's head, covering his eyes)
(B takes A's hands of his eyes)
B* Alex I can't stand with you on my shoulders if you're covering my eyes
Well anyway I thought that was really sweet.

And I just fell on this song today, 'You belong to me" by Lifehouse. Well, we agree that B/A belong to each other. And it's such a sweet tune wub.gif

was thinking about you shippy folks today - thinking about feeling like a crazy minority (when you're really the sane ones ... )
this song is one of my happy tunes.

it's not really shippy ... it's for shippers. i'm glad i found you folks!
i want to keep my cheeks dry today, too.

jr003 has inspired me to dig this one up

From When Harry Met Sally: "Men and women can't [just] be friends because sex always gets in the way".

Too true . . . get too close as friends, and you fall in love . . . .

OK, here are the songs that make me think of Bobby and Alex. You knew I HAD to do it, didn't you Rabeka? laugh.gif

Sorry...the only way I know to do links is to copy and paste. I haven't figured out how to put a name and have it link to the site.

2) Alone

3) I'm Not Alright well that's one of the reasons he needs her rolleyes.gif

4) Well, the title is self-explanatory: We Need Each Other

i'm from what you Americans call 'the Pacific Northwest'. we claim these two amazing women as 'ours' - screw that border at the 49th. they recorded their first monster best seller album in Vancouver at Mushroom Records Recording Studio on West 4th Ave, and kicked an effing big hole in the good old boys club that was 'pop-rock music', making way for superstars like Melissa Etheridge and Sheryl Crowe. hope you all like this one as much as i do ... smile.gif

this IS the song for sure
and ... (regardless of disparaging contemporary expletives) it's Eames who is the dog in this analogy - earthy, grounded, loyal. and Bobby who is the butterfly - a thing of rare and delicate beauty, so perfect that it's impossible. yet, there he is. there they are.

If I were a shipper, I'd find these songs fitting..

Chicagos "Your the Inspiration"

Thanks, uni, for the song! Very pretty.

I'm gonna continue the "songs from your area" trend with Bruce Springsteen, who we from Philly claim as our own. Every Philly girl vacations in Jersey, and Bruce played a lot of gigs in Philly before hitting it big. He even had his 50th birthday concert in Philly.

One of my friends used this as his wedding song:

I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind,
Wait for me

And here's one for them cruisin' the roads of Jersey in a vintage convertible Mustang:

kerli do you listen to a lot of Japanese pop music? cool song, very interesting vid. thanks kiddo.

tigger that's a good idea ... 'regional' songs. no one as famous as 'the boss' comes from this island (just Pamela Anderson - lol - sorry Pam-i guess you're as famous as Springsteen), though we do seem to grow plenty of talented and beautiful women.
like Nelly Furtado.

the nature sounds at the beginning and end of the song are 'night noises' from around here - pacific rainforest singing frogs and redwing blackbirds.

I have the luxury of being able to listen to music sometimes at work. Today I was listening to Patty Griffin and while listening to the following song thought, “If , in some alternate universe, I were a shipper this would be the song I’d pick.” There. You have infiltrated my brain. smile.gif And thanks for the tutorial unicorn. It's nice to learn new techy things!

When it Don’t Come Easy

Red lights are flashing on the highway
I wonder if we're gonna ever get home
I wonder if we're gonna ever get home tonight
Everywhere, the water's getting rough
And your best intentions may not be enough
I wonder if we're gonna ever get home tonight

If you break down, I'll drive out and find you
If you forget my love, I'll try to remind you
And stay by you when it don't come easy
Mmmm...

I don't know nothing except change will come
Year after year, what we do is undone
Time gets moving from a crawl to a run
I wonder if we're gonna ever get home
You're out there walking down a highway
And all of the signs got blown away
Sometimes you wonder if you're walking in the wrong direction

But if you break down, I'll drive out and find you
If you forget my love, I'll try to remind you
And stay by you when it don't come easy
When it don't come easy

So many things that I had before
That don't matter to me now
Tonight I cry for the love that I lost
And the love I've never found
And when the last bird falls and the last siren sounds
Someone will say what's been said before
It's only love we were looking for

When you break down, I'll drive out and find you
If you forget my love, I'll try to remind you
And stay by you when it don't come easy
When it don't come easy

But like ciaddict, I prefer this sentiment! (yeah, I listen to lots of girls with guitars music)

If There Was No You from Brandi Carlile

some of you might remember this song from 'Natural Born Killers'. Oliver Stone isn't afraid to be edgy and he also wins Oscars.
so there, usanetwork. you have no clue.

i wouldn't be a very good token Canadian if i didn't include a song by Canada's favourite singer of songs to make love to ...
waiting for the miracle

it seems appropriate today - since today is the beginning of the end ... (unicorn goes away to cry.)

'baby let's get married, we've been alone too long
let's be alone together, let's see if we're that strong
yeah, let's do something crazy, something absolutely wrong
while we're waiting for the miracle
for the miracle to come.'

actually, this entire album (The Future) is like my own 'soundtrack of CI'. it's filled with wonderful, gloomy love songs, like 'Waiting for the Miracle', 'Be For Real' and 'Anthem' (which is one of Uncle Leonard's best song/poems EVER). i think of CI whenever i listen to it. makes me happy. this song is actually by Irving Berlin.
Always

and you are very welcome AuntDahlia, and anyone else who knows how to use the little plus sign now. i'll pass thanks on to the groin spawn as well. smile.gif (i love your icon!!!!!! hullbound is a genius!!)

Serena, I love that song! I've made it the song of 2009 (haha) and of Bobby & Alex. I put my shippy videotape on while listening to it (When Bobby & Alex are on Chelsea Piers in Albatross, and then at the bar.)

Aw, ciaddict, you put Toy Story, and a Bridge Over Troubled Water, great songs.

A song that makes me think of Bobby's feelings toward Alex is Right Down the Line by Gerry Rafferty. Here are some lyrics -

You know I need your love
You've got that hold over me
Long as I've got your love
You know that I'll never leave

I know how much I lean on you
Only you can see
The changes that I've been through
Have left a mark on me
You've been as constant as a Northern Star
The brightest light that shines
It's been you woman right down the line

whatever happened to Pat Benetar? and, if anyone has a less cheesy less eighties version of this song ... bring it on!

That one really resonates with me lately.

And while I'm on a Cyndi Lauper kick.

That one applies too.
