LOCIFan2
Hi, Everybody:

LOCIFan2 here! You can shorten as you please.

(When I first signed near the end of Season 6, I was LOCIFan, but the software went berserk and "lost my sign-in" about 3 weeks later, so I became LOCIFan2)

To Avoid Confusion: I have never been known by any other variation of LOCI . . .; LoziFan, Lozzie, and other variations are Identities for other members.
globetrottersara
globetrottersara here smile.gif

You can also call me GTS or Sara, if you like...
krodgers
Let me rephrase what a member asked for, you don't have to put your real name, if ya don't want to! Just your user name. Thanks again, Krod smile.gif
Judyg
I'm Judyg or Judy - I'd prefer to be called Mrs. Logan or Mrs. Goren tongue.gif - but I think I'd get beaten up by some jealous friends. I answer well to Jude or Hey You, too. smile.gif
DonnaLJo
Hi everyone.

My current user name here is DonnaLJo, since my usual DonnaJo didn't work. As many of you know, my name is Donna. smile.gif

Me too! tongue.gif

I am always LOCInumber1fan, although you can shorten it if you want. It is pretty long to type.... LOCI#1fan or LOCI#1, it doesn't matter.

(Just don't call me late for supper!) wink.gif
scarletbegonia
Scarletbegonia74 here... hippie shipper, or shippy hipster tongue.gif
Y'all can call me scarletb or sb or scarlet or whatev.
chimera
I am Chimera. I tried to use Photon the Sockpuppet and Hungryeye
as alternates for a short time, to make Twilight Isle look stronger.
But I stopped and confessed. Now I'm just Chimera. If I pretend
to be Hoss Pug or all the other Twilight Isle characters, you will
still see my screen name Chimera. If I quote Mr. Rourke, that is
my real husband, but he doesn't post for himself.
alliys
Alliys here. And that is alliys, not alliy's. Not that it's really important smile.gif
LadyBlueDevil
LadyBlueDevil reporting for duty! biggrin.gif

Most folks call me LBD for short (not to be confused with "Little Black Dress"...I'm a jeans girl! I love pretty shoes and handbags, though tongue.gif ).
Madelow
Hello All-- My user name is Madelow. (The real Madelow is the 10 -year-old daughter of a good friend). I use it out of respect for her, (and because I knew it wouldn't be rejected, since nobody else could possibly have it). Best wishes, M. smile.gif

Indeed it is, and will prevent from those who only wants to cause trouble, why more than one ID, if you are just a person, the reason for multiple is only to disturb and cause trouble, I believe not only the topic is good but necessary and that´s it, `nuf said!

Well only 18 members have confirmed themselves so far, i have openly stated that i am one person, registered once with one ID. Where are all the other members, its awfully quiet, huh.gif anyhow as i stated in another thread here, maybe we could do a member vote on one ID only, and present it for consideration to Admin unsure.gif One thing it will do, is sort out who is who here laugh.gif

While I agree that each person should only have one ID, the problem is how do we enforce it? There are 24 forums here and around 51,000 registered members. That includes old accounts that haven't been used in years, new members, members who post regularly on one or more forums, as well as some who have multiple identities. If there were an official rule, then would it prevent someone from having one identity for one forum (say...ciaddict) and another identity on another forum (svuaddict, monkaddict, psychaddict...you get my drift)? Yes, only a few people have listed their ID in this thread. But I haven't yet been able to understand how listing my name here, even though it is listed next to every one of my 7,000+ posts, proves that I don't have another identity. Couldn't I just come on this thread as each of my identities and say, "Hi, I'm ciaddict" "Hi, I'm svuaddict" "Hi, I'm monkaddict", etc. How would anyone know that they are all me? (and BTW...I don't even know if there are members with those other names and if there are, sorry to use you as an example)

The biggest problem I see with a rule like that is how do we track down who has multiple IDs? There are two people here who have been "outed" as having multiple IDs...one "outed" herself, the other one I discovered quite by accident. There is a way for the moderators to see how many members are posting messages from the same computer....pretty compelling "evidence". But there are some members who live in the same household; they don't come around anymore, but Andy and Angela come to mind. We could start systematically doing a search of each IP address for each member. But think of this: 51,000 members. And I don't know about anyone else, but there are at least 2 different computers I use on a regular basis and maybe 4 or 5 that I have used at one time or another. So we start with ciaddict and her 7,000 posts....go to post 1 and check the IP address and see if any other members have posted from that computer. Now we go to the second IP address for ciaddict and check to see if any other members have posted from that computer. And we sift through her 7,000 posts to make sure we have found each IP address she has posted from. OK! Finally done with ciaddict, and yes we do find one other member who registered (but never posted) from her address...a result of the upgrade that left her unable to log on and her attempt to create a new account. And...some of those IP addresses are computers at her mother or sisters houses....are there any other members posting from those computers? Are there any other family members who might also be LOCI fans and be members on this board? We'll have to find out that information somehow.

OK....now multiply that by 51,000. I'm already exhausted just tracking down ciaddict. While you do the math, I'm gonna go have some Triple Chocolate Cheesecake. laugh.gif

Now...defixesst, I dont' mean to make fun of you or KRod or this thread. I completely understand the frustration of thinking you are talking to several people and then finding out it's really one. I completely understand, and agree, that members should only have one ID. And I know from personal experience how much trouble that some have caused with their multiple IDs....although there are others with multiple IDs who have not caused any trouble at all. I just think that we need to deal with troublemakers as they come along on a case by case basis. The moderators are not full-time employees of USA. We are just regular members, like yourself, and most of us have full-time jobs and other RL commitments that prevent us from providing 24 hour vigilance. We are doing the best we can, but trying to sift through 51,000 accounts to find those that have multiple IDs is just not feasible.

We are certainly open to suggestions and we will do our best.

You can have a giggle and some double choc cheescake, tongue.gif i read this thread to be a "come out" thread, people to be honest and step up, the thread is good i think. It does prove a point, a very important one too...honesty amongst members, its rare, but its still alive and well wub.gif

Christ ciaddict, im dizzy laugh.gif thats what i was saying in a post in the other thread, this board compared to other fan made forums is HUGE. Also with all the reference made to the obvious of late, im sure any members who are multiple members chatting to themselves to win an opinion rolleyes.gif might think about it a bit more in future. As to suggestions, Admin have a panel to sort and check unused accounts, anything that comes up unused, gets deleted, its quick and easy.

If people have accounts and dont use them to post, it doesnt matter, as this is an open board, they can read it without being a member. Forums usually go through unused accounts and delete them if they are inactive, i dont know how that would work here, Admin would know. Anyhow, lets see if we have anymore issues, i certainly am feeling better posting now than when it was all guns blazing laugh.gif That tends to put new members off from joining in anywhere, and you dont want your great board used for that mad.gif I still find it funny that people need to be lots of people on boards, cant they just find others with the same opinion unsure.gif

Yes, I've said it many times...I have enough to keep up with one ID, I don't know how anyone can keep up with multiple ones. And create "personalities" for them. I have enough to do trying to remember my own name and address, much less the vital statistics on 5 other "personalities". tongue.gif
Kayne

So, I guess what Ciaddict's saying is basically we have to work on the honor system.

Just have to trust that people are who they say they are. I agree it sucks that we get fooled every now and then, but like you said...the duel id people have their "tells" and show their arse eventually and then we can just ignore them.

Unless I totally misunderstood everything....but I dont think so.

globetrottersara
The only way to prevent multiple IDs is an IP restriction. One account per IP. Period.
So unless the person connects each of his/her IDs from a different place (one from home, one from work, one from the library, one from the internet point around the corner, etc etc...) technically, people can have multiple accounts.

If I am not mistaken... coz lately my pc skills have been lacking in a few fields rolleyes.gif

Unfortunately, you can't link an IP address to an account. You can restrict that only one ID be logged in at any given time through one IP address, but that poses the problem ciaddict explains above (husband and wife, or the like).

If you say only redheaded_tigger = IP address 111.111.111.111, then my daughter blonde_tigger can't log into the LOCI board on my computer, so that's not fair.

If you say redheaded_tigger can only log in from IP address 111.111.111.111, that won't work either, because then I can't log in from work, the library, etc.

Also, your IP address is not static. I will not always be 111.111.111.111, unless that's been hard-coded into my machine (sometimes workplaces do this to "reserve" accounts for their staff). Your internet provider plays round robin with IP addresses. Sometimes they are turned over after 24 hours, sometimes more. If I remember correctly from my networking class, 24 hours is standard. But just because I log into Comcast today and get the IP address 111.111.111.111 doesn't mean that the next time I log into Comcast, say, 36 hours from now, I will be assigned 111.111.111.111--I might get assigned 111.111.111.222.

So, yes, we're on the honor system. People can have more than 1 account.
globetrottersara
True about the husband/wife problem. Or roommates... 2 or more accounts in the same household/same internet connection, basically, right?

Thanks for the IP clarification. Forgot about dynamic IPs... smile.gif

So IP addresses change?! Just 'cause they want to confuse me even more? laugh.gif Thanks for the information, Tigger. That explains a lot. And I'm glad you mentioned the library; I forgot to add that. Some people are accessing the internet from public libraries or internet cafes (which I've only seen on TV!), so who knows how many members might also access their accounts from those same computers.

Hi, Everybody

I have a different take on listing our "current" IDs in one place.

Computers are "fickle;" they don't always allow you to keep the same identity. I was locked out of my original Identity, about 3 weeks after I first signed into the board, and had to re-register under a different name just to participate in the Forum. In the upgrade/downgrade of Summer, 2008; many long-time, respected, active members were "locked out" of the system; and, had to re-register under different IDs and passwords.
(I expect some did this multiple times, before finally giving up, and leaving our Board altogether.)

I think it's a good idea to have everyone list their "current" ID and associate it with their "past" IDs; just so, if we are reading old Threads or Posts, we know the people are one-in-the-same. (i.e. Bubba or Bugtussle "Bug")

It is a good idea, and should happen, thank god im only me and not multiple identities here rolleyes.gif In regards to IP`s, any IP will show up to forum admin/mods, where they are from ect, only difference to an IP ID, is one or two didgets are at the end of an IP between log ins, but not all are like that. One household with different comps carry the ONE provider ID, so that doesnt change anything. dry.gif
cat lady
I am Catlady, haven't posted for awhile but do check in to see if there is any news regarding Vincent and the show. Should mention a post on the USA Board ( how accurate I don't know) someone has a casting call alert for children to appear on an episode of the show, also they mention a return for filming Oct./Nov. with the show airing in the spring of 2010 with 17 episodes. They don't mention they're source except for the casting call it was on something called a Craiglist ( whatever that is) . Could be true, could be more rumours, USA is certainly taking it's time with an announcement!
