whats wrong with this picture. I am a big fan of psych and have been watching for several years but there is something different about this year. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoy it and think it's very funny, but it's just missing something it had before. I think it might be that they are having more detective scenes and less funny side stories weaved into the plot. Or maybe it's because I'm missing there office and all those shots. It's almost like they say more funny things now while strolling along to a crime scene, rather than doing funny thing at the office or some random place. and there's a lot less banter between actors, I mean not totally missing banter but where's the chief, wheres Jules? Or is it that they seem too relaxed in there roles and not as out there and aggressive?

Can someone help me pin-point what i am feeling is different this season!

By the way I still watch, I still Laugh! I just wanted to know if anyone else was noticing a change in the story dynamics?

I think what you are seeing is that every episode thus far has had a seperate setting or an outside setting of the SBPD. For example,
episode 1- canada
episode 2- mainly the country club and the Clayton residence
episode 3- Old Senora
episode 4- the school and Lucy's house

Now, I don't have a problem with it but that might be what's different for you

Hope I helped

I would like to see more of the Psych office and the police department also. Although, from the promo for tomorrow, it looks like we'll get both biggrin.gif

i totally get what ur talking about and i agree with the above. shawn and gus have been taking different types of cases. it hasnt been really, someone was murdered and they need to find the killer. so far every episode has had a twist.
tomorrow's episode and the one for the next week seem like they'll be more "normal"

i kinda like that its different though! sure, we havent seen much of the psych office, and i could use some more juliet and the chief, but otherwise, i think its exciting to see them in different situations.

i guess as a show gets into the 4th season, if its exactly the same as it was in the 1st season, somethings wrong. you gotta mix it up! biggrin.gif

I like the differences, and I like that the show likes to take different turns on their format. Gives a different perspective to everyone. Also, wasn't Maggie Lawson filming movies over the off season? I'm guessing she might not have been as available for Psych filming for a while.

Either way, I'm sure we'll get more of the "normal" sets- Psych office and Police station. But also, the show is bigger now and has a bigger budget I can imagine. They're probably wanting to play around with different places as opposed to being confined to just the usual sets.

I'd like to see a little more Chief, but I trust they know what they're doing, and based on some spoilers, I KNOW we'll get to see a heck of a lot more Jules! So no worries smile.gif

Maggie filmed her stuff for Lifetime over the hiatus.

There are differences, but that's good. If they don't evolve as a show, there's a big problem. The different settings they're taking us into just show how big the writers and cast are thinking these days biggrin.gif

Didn't Steve Franks say @ Comic-Con that an episode was coming up this season called something like "A Very Juliet Episode" where it mainly centered around Jules? Also we have John Cena coming in as Jules big bro which will obviously lead to more Jules.

The thing I've noticed is that the first season the episodes are less about the cases and more about Shawn being a Psychic with lots of physical humor. The second season had better cases, and mostly focused on them. The third season had big action cases, and started delving more into the emotion side. Now, this season is really exploring the characters and emotions. I don't think it's better or worse now, just different.

I think it's different, too. Every season it seems they work hard to recapture what "they think" we like about it. It's not a random, freeflowing process anymore. They have a winner, and now they're trying to break it down into a science. It feels more mechanical now, not natural. In my book, as long as the actors seem like they're enjoying the work, I'm going to keep enjoying them. That shows up in psych-outs and interviews. I truly hope they'll enjoy it for a very long time.
And I agree that the show MUST evolve. Sure we want Shawn and Gus to scream and run away like little girls, but we also want Shawn's relationship with his dad to improve ... don't we?

The only thing that has bothered me is that fact that so far not one episode this season really had a sunny day...i always liked when it actually looked like they were in california and not canada...stupid canadian weather!!!
