Hey all,

I was just wondering after I have played this game on the official site... unsure.gif

Do you think these gadgets actually work? wink.gif

Hey Bruno! OK I seem to remember Matt Nix saying in a few interviews, that yes, these gadgets do work to a point. They kind of provide most of the ingredients necessary to make something, but they always leave out some key element to make it really work. I remember him saying that or something like it in one of the video interviews, sorry I don't remember exactly which one off hand. I'm also pretty sure he said that in the interview he did for "Script" Magazine in March? April? Earlier this year, I think the link is in the Matt Nix Press thread.

Hey Bruno!

Welcome back! We haven't heard from you in a while. Hope all is well.

I remember the interview FiRocks mentioned but I can't tell you which one it is either. I'm sure one of our resident BN gurus will know and post it for you. There was also a discussion of the Pringles Can/Antenna Michael used in End Run. You might find that in the episode discussion thread for End Run.

Hello,

And thank you for your replies Li_Ann and Firocks smile.gif .

I have been away due to 2 simple reasons:

The 1st is the best one which is that I`m still in vacations smile.gif

The 2nd one, and the most serious one, is that I am going totally crazy and getting really really nervous as in 12 days I`ll know if I am going to college to the course I chose or not.. lots of waiting (yeah, being a student involves a lot of waiting around.. wink.gif ).

Now, regarding the gadgets, I have to say that I am really interested in some of them; almost all of them have some electronics or physics principle behind the way they work and I am really keen on trying to do the listening device gadget as it as an easy and useful physics/electronics principle behind it ( just like a microphone converts the difference of pressure in the air due to our voice into an electric signal that can be amplified, the gadget in question, converts the difference of trajectory of the laser beam due to the soundwaves..) but, it seems totally functional to me.

The main problem would be to solder the photo cell to the headphone pair, but I really want to try it laugh.gif

Hey, you might check the BN home page. The interviews are on there I believe. I watched the one about the gadgets. The prop guys make all the gadgets to see how long it takes and if their idea is doable. it's cool.

I remember Matt Nix saying on one of the dvd interveiws that all the gadgets will actually work to a point and that he tried building most of them. He said it was possible, only very hard and time consuming.

May be this fits this thread...

This is an article from the Boston Globe about CIA spy tricks...very interesting stuff!

I like the part about the shoe laces. I'll have to show that to my students. I've been teaching them about codes and ciphers and secret communication lately.

I think Matt Nix mentioned all that in the special features in s1. For instance the only one that really never was done was the xray trunk when they took a x-ray in the trunk to find out what they were stealing....they said it should work in theory but uncertain if it was ever done. I wouldn't mess with any of that unless you knew what you were doing.

I got a cool "Handbook of Practical Spying" from spymuseum.org written by an x-agent. On the back it says:

"The mind is the only weapon that a spy is guaranteed to discharge on a daily basis. If you can adopt the principles described in this book, you will be better prepared to counter the razor-sharp hats of hassle that the Odd Jobs of the world are continually flinging at you. It's the first step in learning how to think like a spy."

It is worth every penny....there is another 'big one' out there but it is impossible to get at a decent price...it tells how to make C4 and all that good stuff.
