Full Version: The similarity between House and Holmes

I was watching House on night, and I had a sudden thought...
'God, doesn’t House remind me of Sherlock Holmes.....' and I got to thinking about this and, the more I did, the more it made more sense!
I kept it to myself cause, but just surfing the net today I found a webpage that presented a similar theory!

Is their some weird connection? Well...this is what I thought...

* Both (House and Holmes) are arrogant, sarcastic pains in the arses.
* Both are drug addicts (Holmes on cocaine, morphine, opium etc. and House on painkillers)
* Both avoid emotional attachments (save for a best friend or 2)
* Both tend to call people by their second names
* " House" and "Holmes" sound similar
* You can even draw similarities between House's best friend Dr James Wilson and Holmes' best friend Dr John Watson.

Anyone else notices this... (Or is my workload finally making me crack!)

You haven't completely lost it, Not yet any how!
According to this Wikipedia Article producer David Shore was a big fan of Sherlock Holmes.

Other similarities,

Both characters play instruments (House plays the piano, the guitar, and the harmonica; Holmes, the violin)

Shore said that House's name itself is meant as "a subtle homage" to Holmes.

The number of House's apartment, 221B, is a reference to Holmes's street address.
