I've been watching Royal Pains, I like it. Someone said it best as a good beach read. On the most recent episode I noticed a major slip in the writing. When Evan meets the Polish valet she uses the term czesch (sp?) to say bye instead of hello. I am new at the polish language but I don't think it is an interchangeable word. They went on to use it incorrectly 3 times. I'm just baffled why this team of writers could let this slip or is there something I don't know.

Perhaps they do not speak Polish either... I looked up "hello" and "good bye" in Google translate. According to that:
Hello = cześć
Good Bye = do widzenia

but then I thought about the variations of good bye... What if it was just "bye". Turns out:
Bye = cześć

So maybe they are? I have no idea, I'm just basing it on an internet translation site (because those are so accurate )

Actually, it is interchangeable. It's very informal and used the same was as "hi" and "bye" in English. "Do widzenia" is more formal, like "Goodbye", but literally it's more like "Be seeing you" or "Until seeing you (again)".

The real problem was how awful the character was. I thought those kind of idiotic caricatures were a thing of the past - I guess not... News flash - the Iron Curtain came down 20 years ago, and Poland has joined the EU 5 years ago - coming to the US hasn't been a big deal in a long time. "It makes me home sick, and that's hard to do - I'm from Poland."??? WTF did the writers use for reference, Borat?
