Is anyone else as scared by the promotional photo of Marshall crying on the ground while stand is basicly craddling him?!? This has made me exceptionally nervous and anxious for Sunday!!!!
betsmoe
It's sad. Poor Marshall. But Mary reacted the same way when he was in the hospital with a bullet wound. They won't kill Mary off since she's the whole foundation of the show, but I'm thinking we may get a cliffhanger where we have to wait til next season to see how/if she survives.
Nauriel
Yes, that was a very emotional picture. Fred Weller did such an excellent job of portraying such raw emotion. My heat actually skipped a beat when I saw it. Poor Marshall...

But yeah, as heartbreaking as that picture is, I'm certain Mary is going to live. You can't really kill off the main character like that. till, I'm anxious. It looks like it will beb a very emotional episode.

I saw the picture. Marshall is suffering some serious heartache over something. There have been some wild (and not so wild) speculations about what it means. I sure hope the season doesn’t end with that scene as the cliffhanger. I think the fans would "storm the castle" if it did.

I'm leaning towards he's in pain. I'm not convinced his crying, but I could see that he may be injured. At the end of the promo someone is yelling "officer down" or something like that. Perhaps Marshall gets injured?

So, as we all suspected and now know from the early posting of this week's IPS poll on this website, Mary gets shot. Marshall's reaction is to that event. So the question becomes -- where was Marshall when it happened? We know from the promos that Bobby D was there. Did Marshall let Mary down somehow in her moment of need? Is the promo pic of a Marshall devastated by what's happened to Mary and that he thinks he's somehow responsible? I guess all will be revealed Sunday night. Or some of it, at least. When does Season Three start?

I checked out the poll. Let me be the first to say “That Sucks”! Why would the show want to shoot itself in the foot, by pre-polling the fans? That drives the anticipation level from a solid 10 to 7-7.5 (tops). Rats!

Wow. I didn't notice the poll until it was pointed out here. That's...not smart. Good thing I already pretty much guessed that was what will happen, otherwise I'd be pretty disappointed.

Regardless of the promo info that has been "leaked" out to us, I'm still holding out that its a pain reaction (and not emotional pain). I hope he's not crying. He got all emotional at the end of last season when she was kidnapped. Are they going to have him crying at the end of each season? She may very well get shot; I have no idea. I also don't get wraped up in the promo, becuase PROMOS LIE! tongue.gif Promos on this network especially. smile.gif Seriously, if they have him crying, again, he's got to taint his "kick ass marshal" image even more.

And yet another cliffhanger......

I am a fan of in plain sight and I am so very extremely disappointed with the way the writers have decided to end this season. you know, at some point, you can end a show and have people look forward to the next season. the days of "who shot JR" are over. I am so disappointed with this "scary ending and carry over" till NEXT SPRING that by then, I hope everyone who used to care doesn't give a damn anymore. TV is supposed to be entertaining. What is entertaining about months and months of "will she live". BS. we all know she will live. it's drama for no sake. it's just a cheap theatrical trick. and americans are more savvy than that now. i hope the show disappears and you get to see that cheap tricks don't work anymore.

it was a really poor decision to take a country that is in such a mess, with so mush drama and trauma on a daily basis and choose to end a show in this way. there was no need to do this to the fans who have been loyal.

you know, i hope she dies. I just don't care now. it was a mean thing to do to us, the fans who have kept this show afloat. it was just mean and i hope by spring all interest in this show is gone.

it happens all the time. things disappear and once out of sight, out of mind.

i hope this show is gone now. it would serve the writers right for not paying attention to the stress that already exists in this country. We deserved an ending....not this. this is the equivalent of the "it was all a dream" ending.

just piss poor. a bad decision. I hope the show never finds its audience again. you took a good show and used your audience. learn from it.

whoever allowed this writing decision to be made should be fired. Americans deserve to be treated better than this. i hope we forget the show ever existed. it would serve you right.

Good grief and relax! It's just a tv show and a good one. Shows end in cliffhangers all the time. Obviously if you wish that much bad ill will toward it, you just don't care that much. Your loss for not coming back next spring.

Does anyone remember or know how long viewers had to wait to find out, "Who shot J.R.? I'm curious.

They never found out. The show was cancelled or ended after that.

According to Wikipedia, the Dallas episode "A House Divided" aired March 21, 1980. This was like, the original cliffhanger ending and people made a huge deal about it all over the summer. The next episode, "Who Done It?" didn't air until November 21, 1980. The reason there was such a gap in between wasn't because of the network's schedule, but because of an actors strike in Hollywood.

Thanks, firelightandash, that's like 8 months! It's a shame that we have to wait even longer without an actors strike. sad.gif

It was Kristin (someone's sister). And that was far from the last episode. The infamous dream year with Bobby's death was after "who shot JR?"

Pam Ewing was still with Bobby then.

There were several more years later without her.

Them were the good ol' days.......Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing...........

I expect you refer to the final episode of Dallas, wherein Joel Grey played the evil demon, or the devil, and they did a kind of reversal of "its a wonderful life" episode, showing JR how crappy he had made everyone else's life.

The last moments were Grey goading JR to shoot himself, then a gunshot heard from upstairs, and Bobby running up and finding JR and we were left to assume that he had killed himself. but in order to facilitate few more specials down the road, I believe they made it so the shot was JR firing at the mirror where Grey was last seen with his eyes all big and red, yelling "do it!"

Big fan here. :-) Got married on the night that they showed who shot JR. Had to schedule the ceremony, and the party, around it. Just had to <g>
