I wanted to start an area where shippers could post "tells of the heart"--evidence that Bobby and Alex are already in love. This doesn't mean it's already become a physical relationship, or whether or not we actually want to see them hook up on screen. It's just reminders/proof that they have romantic feelings for each other.

This is different from the "100 Reasons to Ship" thread because that one focuses more on why they should be together, and this is more proof that they've already fallen in love, although some of the reasons will overlap.

Please post quotes, pix, vids, scene descriptions, etc. to make this area an "evidence box".

I'd use "Exhibit A, B," etc. but we all know there are far more than 26 pieces of evidence to support this claim. wink.gif

I'll start:

Exhibit 1: Lady's Man: "You slept with him?"
That verbiage, in that tone of voice, asked twice, is a boyfriend question. And her answer to that doesn't matter in solving the case anyway.

Exhibit 2: Blind Spot: Bobby's bedside vigil
Highly unlikely, and also creepy weird, for a platonic relationship

OK, ladies, gents, and mythical creatures, please help me out!

This is just an awesome idea girl!!!!

Well, this is one of the subtle CI tells!!! Like I said it before it was the boost I needed to fully end on this side of the fence biggrin.gif

omg - you rock.
this is an awesome idea.

'Betrayed'. their proximity to each other on that desk, for reasons stated at length elsewhere.

Just like this one!! (And there is totally enough room for them to sit farther apart. xD!)

I know lots of folks think that Alex was pretty rough on Bobby in this scene and maybe she was a little(with good reason).
IMO this scene is loaded with sexual tension so thick, you could cut it with a knife. The part where Bobby stops and stares at Alex for a few seconds (at about 1:24-ish), it's like he should just grab her and kiss her.

Good eye. smile.gif

I totally think that too, not that you mention it.

"This fog is so thick you could cut it with a knife" Shaggy

*Scooby picks up knife and cuts fog in a circle, but then it just comes back* "Huh?" Scooby

I love that episode. Your "cut it with a knife" line just made me think of it. smile.gif

Here's sad Bobby, YEARNING for Eames. um ... it could be of shippish note that, as he is having this realization at his desk at OnePP, Eames is elsewhere in New York, birthing her nephew. 7lbs 8oz born on November 21? (i think)
i know they're fictional, i know, i DO ... but ... his nose? in proximity to Eames right after she's had a baby? that's intimacy.
(*thud* worthy intimacy.)
i'm on a decorating spree

he's too sad all alone, though. here's Eames. she's sad without him, too.
(this is from 'purgatory')

moark ~ you are quoting Scooby Doo! i am laughing really hard. i love Scooby Doo. my 2nd fav American cartoon (Bugs Bunny rules).

#8 'In the Wee Small Hours' Eames' distress on the stand. I think we Shippers and the NoRomos alike can agree - Detective Eames is a rock. not much gets to her.
Hurt and embarrass Bobby in front of all these people? She almost cries.

(from untapdtreasure - lj)

#9 'Purgatory' Eames goes looking for her partner, tracks Bobby down at a diner. (and he is a real ass.)

LOL laugh.gif Nice analogy!
The water carrier speech is certainly not blatantly romantic. But it's got the hot tension of two people coming together after a fight. Too bad it didn't get to go that route.

Saw Betrayed for the first time today and finally saw the scenes leading up to the picture of closeness. It seemed after Bobby gently reassured her that he knew, she knew what she was talking about in reference to the crime. They seemed much better.

I definitely think the water carrier speech is evidence. I listened to it again to see if I could hear 2 men having that dialogue, like Goren and Logan. I can't. And she says "if it wasn't me, you'd be dead" and she gets this little sorrowful catch in her throat. sad.gif Alex, girl, Bobby owes you big time!

And after all this, she still stays with him, forgives him, and defends him in the succeeding episodes, including being his advocate in Frame. Put a fork in that girl; she's done.

Exhibit #10 Blind Spot - Bobby and Declan
Slamming your getting-up-in-years mentor into a concrete wall, demanding to know where your coworker is, is not platonic.

#11 Lady's Man - bar scene banter
Bobby doesn't need the info to catch Mulrooney. He needs the info to catch Alex tongue.gif
"Bourbon, huh? Bourbon . . . ."

'betrayed' was the one that convinced me. i didn't think much of it the first time i saw it, though. it's so subtle - it has become an all-time favourite. Eames is so mean to Bobby when they arrive ... she says something like "A missing husband - are you sure you need both of us for this?" and Bobby gives her this look. (direct hit. ouch.) when he says "I'm just sayin' - you're right." he could be being contritely respectful of her position as senior partner (probably), and maybe talking just about the case ... ('no, let's not tell Ross yet ...' ) but i think he's saying;
"you're right, i was treating you like a water-bearer, and you're right, if anyone else had come through the door I'd probably be dead, and you're right that too many of my wounds are self-inflicted, and i should have called you, and i'm sorry. please, please forgive me - i can't stand it when you're mad at me." soon, they're hip-to-hip on the edge of their desks. apology accepted. (it's so cute - she puts space between them when Ross walks in, so they're farther apart in the still than they are at the open of the scene ... tee-hee.)

#14 suite sorrow - the polaroid.
redheaded_tigger
Exhibit #15 - Brother's Keeper
He waits for her while she goes to see the psychiatrist, then asks her how's she doing emotionally with her sessions. Inappropriate for a work relationship, and none of my platonic friends would do something that intimate for me.

#16 - Silencer. Bobby is jealous that Alex has gone for coffee with Peter.
Bobby's with Alex, what, 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year, and he gets jealous that she takes a 30 minute coffee break with a guy who's obviously interested in her? He's not ticked off that they're not working on the case. It isn't that urgent to solve that she can't have a coffee break. This isn't "24" where they have to save NYC from an impending biological attack. He's jealous that she's with Peter.

#17 'faithfully' a really surprised to see you Eames tells Bobby he looks good. (look at her smile. she's so glad that he's back.)

One little correction, the ep you're referring to is called "Siren Call" and yes good point there biggrin.gif

'Endgame' The scene were he's on the phone with his mother... What was that scene for? Just to pass time? Uh... I don't think so!

My bad cool.gif

And those pics from "Albatross" you just put up, remind me of something else:

#20
When Goren said "Are we alright?" and Eames answers "I hope so".... Look at Bobby's reaction: a quick nod. To me that meant "Ok that's all I needed to know for now, let's leave it at that please"
He just HAD to know that she was ok with him wub.gif He was under pressure asking that question, scared of the answer. The way he titled his head while asking it was a sign of effort!

Well, that's shippy to me tongue.gif

Me, I always thought he was hurt because he realized that even this one person he's truly in sync with once considered rejecting him also. I mean, we pretty much know that he's been rejected his whole life (primarily by his parents who were supposed to be the first to love and protect him sad.gif )
But he let go off his hurt awfully soon because after all Eames did stay. That letter's something of the past.
The more time goes by with her by his side the more dependent he becomes (well, that's psychologically proven...) and he knows he's hard to deal with. So he had to let her know that he doesn't blame her for what she did (I am an acquired taste). At the same time, he profited to tell her that she's one hell of a gift! He's lucky to have her by his side every day (I'm lucky you withdrew your letter) wub.gif

(unicorn note: i was a little worried i'd get some grief for the 'sorry-ass' bit, but after reading the conversation on b/a love thread, i'm thinking y'all agree - lame lame lame.)

it staggers the imagination, the things these two have talked about when we weren't around.
#26 'silver lining' Eames reminds Bobby that she thought she could smell moonbeams while she was pregnant.

the criteria is: would male/male partnerships do this? i'm trying to imagine it ... Logan having this kind of a conversation. lol how about Elliot discussing similar wife pregnancy stuff w/coworkers?
it's shippy.

#27 'the posthumous collection'

#28 'smothered' (need a better pic ... saw one somewhere ... looking ...)

season one.

i'm an image junkie. been looking at ci stills.
i'm gonna quote ~moark~ "think logically" ...
why would they (those who make ci) do this if we weren't supposed to notice? the world of ci stills / screencaps / icons is one big ship fest b/c the single most dominant ci image is Goren and Eames in these poses. there are literally thousands of them. (but in show context, they happen so fast, with a conversation about serious crime layered over top - we just don't have time to see them, or really take them in.) thousands. i mean, holy subliminal frontal assault, Batman. not really even all that subliminal.
look at it like a filmmaker: the amount of effort involved in capturing just one perfect image of these two so, so close, but not touching must be immense.
there are thousands.

i could post little stills forever. leaning over each other's desks. leaning in to read over a shoulder. side by side on the street. side by side in interrogation. etc. etc. so, so close, but not touching. the camera angles need to be worked out just right, so that the fact that they aren't touching is apparent to us.
again, "think logically". they wouldn't do this for nothing.

(this one's from 'rocketman'.)

Sometimes it bothers people to hear the truth, but the shippers are not afraid of what we see, which is the truth. So you are just thinking about the truth, that's all. smile.gif There are worse things to think about.

I enjoy hearing everybody else help me determine "the truth", btw. All that Purgatory water carrier stuff really helped! Thinking is good.

(i think he knew Joe's partner's name ... is that what you mean?)
so, it's more proof that they DO talk about her personal life, and in detail, when we're not around. good one bogoalexea.

to that end, (and i'm bettin you all have shared this thought while i was either lost in iconland, or grazing on amanitas in the smurf meadow),
i was thinking about 'lady's man' again ... and the big question ("you slept with him?")
am i right in thinking that Bobby knew somewhat about the berman case, but nothing about mulrooney? i think for many of us, we don't include some details in the retelling of the stories of our lives, especially not the details that might bug the people who are in our lives now. this is being respectful. Ok... I felt my explanation wasn't clear enough rolleyes.gif

While he was interrogating Enrique (that underwear model...) Goren said "it could be scary you know when somebody goes away especially somebody you love so much", well there he was predicting Eames' kidnapping.

Enrique's somebody he loves so much is the victim (his girlfriend or ex) while Bobby's somebody he loves so much is Eames...

No, no he doesn't know about it. Bobby foreshadowed it, you know? I mean, the writers were kinda giving us a hint on what was going to happen (or what could happen), see?

Ok here are two definitions of foreshadowing: 1)the presentation in a work of literature of hints and clues that tip the reader off as to what is to come later in the work. 2) To present an indication or a suggestion of beforehand; presage.

And if you still don't get it I'm really willing to try to explain further 'cause I really want to share this 'tell' smile.gif

Hey ~moark~

Thanks for the shippy vid on the other thread. One of the scenes in it was that one where Bobby throws a binder at that guy who is starting to get aggressive with Alex. I thought that was in Cruise to Nowhere, but I watched that late last night, and that's not the right ep.

Anybody know where that's from? Makes a great tell.
