There has to be something wrong with me. This show is centered around Mary and I can't stand her! But I still continue to DVR it and watch! I am like that with Grey's Anatomy, too. But at least in Grey's there have been more storylines besides the Mer/Der drama to pay attention too. But with IPS, it's all Mary all the time.

I like Marshall, I like Elenor (I know I am in the minority here), but that's about it. Don't like Mary or her family and find myself FF'd through all scenes at the house. I guess I keep hoping it will go back to being more about the cases. Sorry...just venting!

Mary can be tough to love (and her family is even harder to love. Jinx hasn't be around in a while and I don't really miss her at all). But for me, Mary has enough awesomeness in her to balance out the grumpiness. Most of the time. She was seriously grumpy in last week's episode, but I think that was a reflection of how uncomfortable she is in this engagement. She was much better this week when she didn't have to spend time with Raph.

But overall I do think Marshall is my favorite character, and you aren't alone in the Eleanor love. I didn't like her at first, but she has really grown on me and now I kind of adore her.

Ditto. I love all of Mary's coworkers

This show is not like a "regular" cop show. It is more about the characters & there relationships. The WITSEC part to me is just the backdrop. Interesting, but not the main point. Some episodes are more orientated that way & there are fun too.

If this is only the second show you watched, I'm taking it you haven't seen season 1? You may want to watch those because there was a lot that happened to Mary. It may give you some insight into her & why we love her grumpies and all.

I actually like Mary quite a bit and can usually understand where she's coming from - but I also realize that most people would think she's horribly mean at first, which is what Mary would want you to think. It's her defense and protection mechanism. She can't let anyone in her life get to close to her for the sake of her job, and she certainly can't get close to her witnesses. If she's constantly crabby, no one but the already committed really wants to get close, thus reducing the problem.

I'm with you on the Eleanor love, but I'm still not entirely sure Eleanor's not a plant from the FBI. As for Mary's family, if I lived with my mother and sister, I'd be just as crabby and all the time, too.

Overall, I’m undecided as to whether I like the show or not. I started watching with the begining of season 1 and I still can't decide. I’m with everyone else in that I like the supporting characters and actually I like them more than I like Mary. Mary on the other hand, it just depends. I know why she’s the way she is and I understand why she’s the way she is. I do, I get it. I myself, could easily fall into the b*$#! category as well. However, she comes off meaner in some episodes than others.

There have been a few moments in a few episodes where Mary was genuinely awesome. Those moments are usually with her witnesses (Iris Doesn’t Live Here Anymore is still one of my favorites for both Mary and Marshall). She’s screwed up and trying to adjust. Just the fact that she sees a need to adjust is a big step for her, let alone doing something about it (however feeble the attempt). So, I continue to watch; despite how lousy the writing is. I think I keep watching because the story line has such promise and I want to like it, its just harder some episodes. blink.gif

I like Elanor too, especially when she and Mary tease each other. biggrin.gif
