The Training Video. Just seeing one (even on TV makes my chest ache) because we still have them, but mercifully they are few and far between. Once upon a time they were like ants at a picnic—plentiful, painful, and annoying. (They are still painful and annoying, just not as plentiful.)

Frank,…where…is…your…ID?

John,…I…forgot…my…ID…today. Can…you…please…hold…the…security…door…for…me?

No,…Frank,…that…would…be…against…regulations…you…must….

Those who have never had to sit through one of these long, boring, and wooden-acted presentations should count their blessing. For the rest of us, thank goodness for caffeine and donuts.

I always wonder at the people who end up acting in them - rarely do I see them end up in other media. Which in a way, might make training vids a public service.

Also, I've found corporations who do training videos tend to be out of touch with the reality of day to day jobs. Yes, the "I can't let you in- regulations..."

99% of the time the regulation videos are idealized reflections that are almost completely inapplicable to real life situations. I'm impressed Mary didn't pull out her gun and shoot someone over it.
