SEASON 8 EPISODE LIST
(16 Episodes, April 19, 2009 – August 09, 2009)
Compiled as of July 14, 2009, in mid-season, so anything shown for "after July 14" is somewhat speculative and therefore subject to change.
This list shows dates only of the First/Premiere Airing of each Episode on USA. Episodes are numbered in Airing Sequence, which may differ from Shooting Sequence.)
8.01 Playing Dead 04/19/09 (Goren/Eames-Ross)
8.02 Rock Star (Wannabe) 04/26/09 (Nichols/Wheeler-Ross) First Nichols Epi of LOCI
8.03 Identity Crisis 05/03/09 (Goren/Eames-Ross)
8.04 In Treatment 05/10/09 (Nichols/Wheeler-Ross)
8.05 Faithfully (The Faithful) 05/17/09 (Goren/Eames-Ross)
8.06 Astoria Helen 05/31/09 (Nichols/Wheeler-Ross)
8.07 Folie a Deux 06/08/09 (Goren/Eames-Ross)
8.08 The Glory That Was . . . 06/15/09 (Nichols/Wheeler-Ross)
8.09 Family Values 05/24/09 (Nichols/Wheeler-Ross)
8.10 Salome In Manhattan 05/31/09 (Goren/Eames-Ross)
8.11 Lady's Man 06/28/09 (Goren/Eames-Ross)
8.12 Passion (aka Poet) 07/12/09 (Nichols/Wheeler-Ross)
8.13 All In 07/19/09 (Goren/Eames-Ross)
The following are known Episode Titles, but not necessarily the correct sequence or detective pair. As the August LOCI schedule for USA does yet not show Titles for the "New LOCI Episodes" (Sun 9 PM), so I simply "plugged" the 3 remaining titles into the 3 remaining Air Dates for Season 8. (I assumed the the production Title "Poet" had been changed to "Passion.")
8.14 Revolution 07/26/09 (Nichols/Wheeler-Ross)
8.15 Major Case 08/02/09 (Goren/Eames-Ross)
8.16 Alpha Dog 08/09/09 (Nichols/Wheeler-Ross)
Note the following items on the USA Schedule for August:
08/09/09 A Marathon from 10 am to Midnight marked "Finale Marathon"
08/09/09 9PM shows No Title but is marked "Season Finale,"
(So it's logical to assume that USA is scheduling the Last New Episode of Season 8 for that date and time.
It also works out perfectly with the calendar.)
Notes about Season 8 (and, optimistically, Season 9):
A Writers Strike during Season 7, combined with the introduction of a New Character (Zach Nichols), a pair of new producers/writers that didn't work out and were replaced by another new team, and the 2nd pregnancy of Julianne Nicholson (Megan Wheeler) combined to delay the production of the alternate team's early Season 8.0 Episodes.
The start Airing of Season 8.0 Episodes was delayed 3-4 times from Nov 08, 2008; to January, 2009; to a number of speculative dates; until it finally started on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 9PM on USA. The Episodes were aired in a different sequence than the were shot; so we see Wheeler's weight go up and down; Goren's beard come and go and come back again from episode-to-episode.
To my knowledge, as of 07/14/2009, we hadn't yet heard anything as to if Season 9.0 is being planned and/or its number of episodes or starting date. But then, I wouldn't expect such an announcement until after the last episode of Season 8 has aired. Based on the scheduling of the 2nd half of Season 7.0 and Season 8; my guess is that USA has made LOCI into a "Summer" Series; so I'm guessing that Season 9 won't begin until at least mid-April and time it so that the last new episode airs no more than a week or two before Labor Day (the first Monday of September) 2010. I've also noticed that USA likes to run its "original series'" in pairs; so I expect that if we don't see information about LOCI, we can watch for information about "In Plain Sight" as they have been paired for the last two seasons.

This is great. But Family Values was the G/E episode with David Harbour.
I sometimes forget episode titles, so this is very helpful. Thanks again!

I know it might be too too early to ask, but-uh... any idea when Season 8 will be aired out of the US?
I could watch Season 7 in Italy but now I'm in the UK and I don't know when I'll be able to watch Season 8 with the new Det.

globetrottersara,
I am actually thinking about going to amazon.com to buy some on-demand eps from season 8. I think someone else mentioned an amazon "season pass", so I'm giong to look into that. I never treat myself to anything, and for me, this escape from reality is better than a 1 hour massage, so I think for me it's a wash. I'll let you know what's up with that once I find out.
Everyone,
Here's a marathon alert: USA will be having a season 8 episode "Finale Marathon" on Sunday, August 9 starting at 10 Eastern. Proceed to setting DVRs! Of course, they're not being shown in the right order, and they are only airing 8 of the season's episodes, but we may be able to view them correctly after the fact to see Goren's progression back to health and how Nichols gets used to MCS.

@ redheaded_tigger:
ooooooh, I didn't know about the Amazon.com option. Thank you for the heads up!

I have to check that too... Mostly to see if it works for non US-residents. I'm not it the US now
Also... I know there's Hulu.com letting you watch shows for free. Nice idea if you can't keep up with TV schedules. BUT, Law & Order isn't available on Hulu.com, plus even if it was I couldn't watch it because I'm not in the US, d'oh!

IP problem... But they're kind enough to ask you for your location and email, saying they have an international staff and they'll send you a notice when the service will become available in your country. Will they? We'll see...

Anyway... till then, I guess I can only try to stay away from detailed recaps & screencaps. I don't wanna spoil the fun...

Thanks for taking the time to put this list online. I just got hooked on LOCI when I saw my first episode in season 7...."Untethered" and then part 2 "Purgatory". I just can't get enough of the show now. But it is hard to place all the episodes in context when you start watching a show 7 seasons in and they are not all on DVD! I'm still trying to figure out why Jamey Sheridan and the ADA left.
Thanks again, this list will make catching up easier

Hey, Jackie! Welcome! Just FYI, Jamey Sheridan and Courtney Vance (ADA) were both from the West Coast, I believe, and wanted to work closer to home. Also, I think Jamey had trouble w/ Bell's Palsy, which is why you will see him in Season 5 w/ an eye patch in a few eps.

Hi, Jackie (and anyone else who is trying to "sort out" past episodes of LOCI):
When I first joined this Board (approx. Aug, 2007), I also got rather confused as I was watching new episodes of Season 6 weekly, while "catching up" on the five previous seasons during the week (out of sequence). I made notes for my own referral, so I could put things into a logical sequence.
Then I noticed that on this Board some of the same questions were being asked over and over again; so, I composed a History of LOCI that supplies a lot of behind-the-scenes details of LOCI's production that aren't explained in the aired episodes/plotlines. (i.e. changes in cast, producers, writers, show's format, etc)
You can find the most recent posting (03/01/09) on the Etiquette Thread around Post #395; for answers to most of the questions you have; and maybe some you never thought to ask.
(Please note, when I edit and update this every few months, I make it a new post at the end of the Thread and delete previous versions; so several months from now, it may no longer be Post #395 on Etiquette Page 20)

Thanks for the info

I was hoping the eps where Jamey left might solve what happened to Goren's credibility. I can't understand how Goren went from being a trusted...almost right hand man to Jamey's Captain and then became absolutely dismissed by Captain Ross. It is weird that the most brilliant detective around starts being treated like an idiot out of the blue. I must have missed a big ep!
That's why he wore an eye patch....

A couple of days ago I started seeing commercials on TV for LOCI repeats on "My Network TV" in my area coming up in the fall. Right now, LOCI airs on My9 (the NYC affiliate) in the metro area every weeknight at 11:30pm (they are going in order, currently on the 5th season). However, in the fall, the reruns are only going to be on Mondays from 8pm-10pm starting September 28th. To me, it sounds like they are starting from the beginning, so it might be a great opportunity to do some catching up/recruiting
. Not sure how many people this applies to, but I figured it couldn't hurt to put it out there

I sometimes watch my9news b/c I like to see what's up in NYC. LOCI used to be on @ 11:00pm, and then I didn't see it, and then, I see it is on @ 11:30pm! (That's a little late for me to watch the whole thing!) Every Monday night, I know where I'll be!!!!!!!
(Even though I already have all the episodes (either on DVD, VHS, or Amazon.com, I still watch it on TV!)
I am pathetic! (That's for the I Am Pathetic Thread!)

Actually, what is happening is "CI" is going from five-day-a-week to weekend syndication (which in most cities will be Saturday-Sunday, but in New York, WWOR-TV (My9) will be airing on Mondays from 8:00-10:00 PM locally) while "SVU" is going into five-day-a-week syndication on over-the-air stations.

Getting really PO'ed w/ Bravo. First, they keep running the same few later seasons over and over, instead of eventually going back to Season 1 and starting the whole cycle over, again. Then, they just decided to have a movie night, tonight, instead of the regular Sunday CI marathon. This isn't the first time in recent memory that they have either had a movie night or another show's marathon, like Real Housewives or something like that. I think they're showing maybe 2 eps later in the night, but I'm getting the idea they may be trying to phase out the marathons. It doesn't seem they really care about what eps they're showing or whether they show them, at all. And we really can't count on the other networks showing much CI, either. USA mostly shows SVU reruns, except they have CI marathons on some weekdays when I'm at work. And TNT used to show a lot of mothership eps in primetime, when I'm home, but they now show other shows in reruns during that time slot. I'm not feeling the love for either CI or the mothership, right now, but mostly not for CI.

Does anyone else get Sleuth network? It's on my Direct Tv. They've been showing CI weeknights. They started from the first episode season one and have been going in order from there. They are up to Season 3 now I think. I didn't even know I had that channel until I visited my sister and her 12-yr-old crime-show-junkie daughter was watching it.

Anyway, it's been nice to seeing the show in order.

I wish I had Sleuth Network, but we just have basic cable service, no digital or Direct TV or anything like that.

Bravo did have the mini-marathon, but it was from 11:00 PM-4:00 AM. Sunday night was Emmy night, and perhaps Bravo knew most regular Sunday "CI" would be watching the Emmy telecast OR the Giants-Cowboys Sunday night game (first regular season NFL game in the new Cowboys Stadium) on NBC.
As noted upthread, beginning this coming weekend (Sept. 26-27), "CI" will be in weekend syndication with those episodes also airing Saturdays and Sundays at 6:00 AM ET/PT on USA Network.
