LOL! I am looking forward to this!

Spoiler:
It's so funny when a person who seems like the last person to ever want anything to do with a dog gets taken with one, and I think it's really funny and cute when men do things like baby talk a dog or refer to themselves as 'Daddy'. My husband totally did this with his Chihuahua. My husband is kind of a big guy that a lot of people think looks intimidating, and he'd walk around the house with this tiny little dog tucked under his arm or cradled like a baby, kissing him and baby talking him... And his Chihuahua thought he was a Rottweiler, he even had a spiked, leather collar. Compensating for something, I suppose. smile.gif

It should be fun seeing the others' reaction to the way he behaves, too.

I can't wait to see this.

The Spoiler in saying Monk is "Becoming an honorary Davenport, eating, drinking and having fun" - almost make one wonder if we talking about the Monk we have known and loved for nearly eight years?

On the surface of things, these statements are tantalizing hints that some kind of metamorphosis may be taking
place which some may not favor but, for me, seeing the return of a Monk whom Trudy once knew without her presence physically is a hopeful sign that he can once again accept and be willing to find enjoyment in living life more fully,

I watched today Mr. Monk and the Panic room and the owner of the building where Monk has his apartment said that no one can have animals in the building...So how Monk is going to have a dog in his apartment?
Raven01
It would be funny if he sneaks the dog in, and then has to try to keep his presence a secret, keeping him quiet, walking him on the sly...and how will he ever deal with the dog's, you know, poop?? He has to pick it up. That would be a nightmare for him!

Maybe...or Dr. Bell can talk this owner and say that this dog is some kind of therapy dog so he can't say no right? Or maybe this dog will stay at Natalie's house?

Sha-Poopie FTW!! LOL! Maybe they will do that. It would be good advertising. And the idea of Monk dealing with this issue, even with the Sha-Poopie is pretty funny. Somehow I can imagine him fiddling with it, trying to make sure it's in the exact center of the dog's back feet, while trying not to actually see what's happening.

But he was able to deal with Tommy's diapers. If you love something enough, you find ways to deal with the necessaries that go along with having them in your life.

As for the no-pets rule in his building, I'll need to rewatch that and see how it was worded. Possibly it's 'No pets unless you pay a deposit', or maybe that rule has been changed if the building was purchased by another person or firm. Or, there is the possibility that he gave the landlord the impression that the dog was a service animal of some sort. Maybe the landlord just won't have a chance to see the dog before the end of the episode. I've kept a puppy and a cat in a no pets apartment before.

OMG! This episode just sounds too cute!!! I just love that movie with Jack N. "As Good As It Gets" because that little dog is just so cute and how cranky Jack falls so in love with the little dog. Everytime I watch it I think how great Tony Shalhoub could play that role!!! and now it'll be a little bit like that!!! Wow! I think Season 8 is really going to be their best season so far!!!!!! This will definitely be one of my most favorite episodes!!!

I REALLY can't wait for this episode. I am a BIG time dog person. I HAVE to have one under foot. (PLUS a few cats & a horse) They are MUCH cheaper than a shrink...at least I think they probably are. LOL. PLUS they make sure you get your exercise....daily walking..+ romping around , playing like a fool....let's my inner child come out.... always. Gives me an excuse. smile.gif

To stay young & keep your sanity...I say... NEVER stop playing...get a dog * & if folks laugh at you romping around ....blame it on the dog*. They won't mind & the laughing fools will never figure out how you stay so young at heart. Poor things. smile.gif

* Substitute any other pet here..as ,IMO, all pet's help you feel young at heart.

B.
Always romp.

Thanks. Monk is an honourary member of Natalie's family! What does that mean?? Maybe at last he can experience the loving warmth and friendship, even vicariously, of a family he never had.

Not sure I would count on that, remember, it's Natalie's family. I don't know that I would classify Peggy Davenport as particularly warm. I think her version of warm is slightly less frosty than she treats the waiters at her son's bogus wedding.

I think Randy's mom is probably the best mom any of the four main characters have. Leland's is apparently 'scary', we've seen Natalie's mom, who is probably nice in her own ways but hardly June Cleaver, and Adrian's mom also may have had good intentions but obviously also had a boatload of issues.
SouthernMonkFan
I loved the last (Sharona) episode! I missed her so much! I wish we could have both Natalie and Sharona. My only disappointment with the episode is that I was hoping there would be new info on the Trudy case. I know we will find out who is responsible for her death in the end, but I had hoped there would be more clues scattered throughout the whole season. Maybe I'm just missing them?

So, what about this week's episode? Has anyone heard anything new?

Anyway, Monk and a dog should be really funny! I wonder why Natalie isn't taking care of the Dog? I can hardly wait.

Liv
It looks like Julie will be in this next episode, judging from the promotional photos Alex linked to above. And the guy that plays Hodges (?) on CSI, too.
LaNoviaDeErik
At least it will be nice to see Julie again. I was wondering if she was going to make any other appearance in this last season...

Teresa1643
I got a message last night from David Breckman about tonight's episode:

"Hey good people! Just a quick head’s up that the third MONK I directed will
be premiering this weekend on USA Network.

MR. MONK AND THE DOG debuts tomorrow night -- Friday, October 30 -- at 9
PM.

The story finds Monk taking in a murder victim’s dog – temporarily, of
course. At first our germaphobic hero despises the animal, but gradually --
and to his own amazement -- finds himself becoming attached to the pooch
and, by the end of the show, is willing to die to protect her.

Beth Armogida wrote a solid first draft, Andy Breckman worked his usual
magic on the rewrite, and the final product reportedly (and this is the best
review I could’ve asked for) -- reportedly moved network president Jeff
Wachtel’s wife to tears.

“DOG” is ultimately a story about loneliness… and unexpected love. Tony
shines in the episode (as always), the other regulars are characteristically
great, and Sparky -- the four-legged actor playing “Shelby,” the pooch whom
Monk takes in -- is guaranteed to win your heart.

So set your TIVO accordingly. And if you have a chance to tune in and
watch, I hope you enjoy the show…

…and hope everyone’s having a wonderful October.

Talk soon!

David"

David also told me that this is a transgender role for Sparky. He's a boy dog playing a girl dog.

Oh my gosh, YES! As Good As it Gets is one of the greatest movies of all time, and I actually thought of it when I heard about Mr. Monk and the Dog too. This is going to be a great episode, I always wondered how Monk would react with a dog in his house.

Hello,

Thanks for the spoiler.

I won't see the remaining scenes of this episode till next year but the way the writers are carefully grooming the transformation and redefinition of Monk here by hesitantly reaching outward and caring - even if it be a dog - is heartwarming.

They actually use boy dogs in girl roles frequently. I thought I heard somewhere it's because males are easier to train. Lassie was played by boys. I think there was only 1 girl lassie.

but I digress. SPOILER: If you didn't see it don't read this next part

Cute episode... but it reminded me a lot of the episode where Monk wanted to adopt that one toddler and in the end gave him up to another family. I wish he could have kept the dog.
Tobias2343
I thought the episode was great tonight! Very funny, and at times very touching, which is my formula for a perfect Monk episode! There were so many terrific lines tonight...I especially enjoyed Monk giving Shelby a tour of his apartment..."This is off-limits!" And even though we saw it in the promo, the scene where she's drinking from the toilet and chases him down the hallway is now officially, in my opinion, classic Monk! I really enjoyed "Mr. Monk and the Dog." Can't wait to see Monk go on a camping trip next week! smile.gif
