I used to see commercials for monk and psych premiering on July 17. I just saw that now it's August 7th. Any ideas as to what happened?

Huh, that's funny.....I usually hear about them starting in July (I'm a fan of both shows) so it seems kind of weird that they would be premiering in August, doesn't it?

Ever since ive been watching the show the new seasons have always premiered in june or july and the the second half of the season in january. But because this is monks last season theres been rumors saying that they arent goning to take a break in the middle of the season this time. On other topics we have been discussing how it would be nice (if the no break thing is true) that they would end the series with a Christmas episode at the end of november and Monk would finnally open his present from Trudy that hes been saving all these years.

Sorry , i kindof forgot this was the Psych forum so i started talking about Monk too much but most people who watch Psych also watch Monk so i hope its not a problem. And i heard that monk wasnt going to take a break during the season but i havent heard if Psych is or not. But if i do ill let you know. And let me know if you hear anything about it too. Lol.

I surely hope that is not the case for Psych. That puts far too long of a break between the seasons. Long hiatus=Certifiably Insane Psych-Os!

i agree with all of you guys! this had been too long to wait for psych and monk to be aired again. it feels like forever, but its only been like 3 months or something like that. so yeah, my nerves cant wait much longer!!!!

From what I've read on the Monk forum... It seems that instead of showing the season in two parts, they will be showing the entire season starting in August. I think they're doing it since it's the final season for Monk. I guess since Psyche is paired with Monk it will get the same treatment. It's another month or so of waiting, but then we won't have the gap in the middle.

I have a different theory. Possibly due, in part, to the fact that the idea of waiting that long between Psych seasons (End of season 4 to beginning of season 5, so say...October/November to July/August?) is unbearable and doesn't seem to be fairly counter-intuitive. USA's already ordered a new show to replace Monk called White Collar. I'm thinking that if they air all of Monk at once, they'll still split Psych and then pair the back half of season 4 with season 1 of White Collar to see if the pairing works out. If not, they should be able to figure out fairly quickly that it won't work and maybe get a new show together and ready to air by August. If it does work out, well, then then have the Friday night programming block set and they can just order season 2.

Thats a pretty good idea. What is White Collar going to be about ?

We definitely didn't run any commercials with a July 17th date this year. You may be thinking of last year.

Also, as far as I know, Psych will still have split seasons, but of course that could change.

Interesting about the split seasons versus full straight season. Either way, I'll be at home watching Psych. In a way, the later date does help me get my summer movies in! LOL!! Yehooo!!!!

USA sucks in promoting and playing PSYCH. I finally bought the season set of 1 +2 at target for 39.99. Best money I spent in years. BUT To only see tuesdays at 1 am for repeats and never a comercial till this week about "RETURNING THIS SUMMER" But no date is a bunch of crap. I am SO disapointed in the channel in promoting burn notice and royal pains...

I WANNA SEE PSYCH !!!

They've definitely been promoting Psych! It hasn't hit full swing yet, but it's early on still. Us Psych-Os have already gone nuts, there's no use driving the rest of the world crazy with it, too! For the record though, I've seen the Psych promo once during each of the new episodes of Burn Notice and Royal Pains. That's the best promotion you can get on USA right now. I don't remember any during In Plain Sight, but that's because I DVR it and then skip commercials (for the most part). There's no need to jump down anyone's throats right now.

I thought I saw some too a while ago...I'm talking maybe a month or so ago, but they usually start promoting them closer to the premeire date. It's still early on so I would expect to see more and more promos going on from like maybe next month (July), but I also am kind of sad that they don't air Psych (and maybe Monk) as much of some of the other shows.

I was wondering the same thing. The extra month will go by fast and waiting longer will only add to the excitement. Bring on Psych!

i'M SORRY BUT IF YOU SPLIT A SEASON UP IT WOULD BE EVERY 6 MONTHS. wHY WOULD YOU make people wait closer to september than in june?? I think if your going to do something and if there are that many people who like a show and if the show has filming problems then let people know about a new date. I even saw advertising on syfy about burn notice .

Well, as long as this topic is back to the first page, I thought I might share something random...

Has anyone else noticed that today is July 17th? the day Lavendar Gooms "made up" I sure wouldn't mind if psych's new season were premiering tonight! ... *sigh*

Seriously though, I feel like this hiatus is making me go crazy. Especially all those commercials saying "psych returns this summer." I won't even be on summer break anymore! Well, basically. I have Band camp for two weeks starting Aug 3, then school starts as soon as that is over. (yes, I'm a band nerd.) I didn't even get out of school until June 9th. (my summer break is less than two months! ) So b/w an abnormally short summer break, and an abnormally long Psych break, (longer than all the others), I feel like my summer has been cheated of me...

But fortunately, I will have the third season DVD coming in the mail soon to make ALL things better.

I know! I was hoping it would start in July so that I would have something to watch. I got out of school on June 10 and start sept.2
