i think it is the witty humor of everything in there mixed in with the seriousness of crime. it shows that justice can be fun and people are more likely to respect the law if they have something they like about it

The main reason I watch Psych to be honest is because of Shules (I just think they are the best TV couple ever) but also because of the fast talking and banter and the casualness of the show. THe great references from movies and pop culture are very entertaining as well. All in all I don't think there is anything wrong or bad with Psych, its such a great show!!

Most of my life, I've been a fan of classic mystery series - Sherlock Holmes, Nancy Drew (when I was WAYYY younger, mind you), et al. Well, that and Sci-Fi... but who DOESN'T like to get their geek on once and a while? (Or in my case whenever I'm not watching/thinking Psych/Burn Notice)
Shawn, imho, IS Sherlock Holmes, only snarkier, sexier, and just plain stranger. It's as if Sherlock Holmes was bred with Captain Kirk. He's got the Cocky know-it-all mind, and that playful streak a mile and a half wide; while at the same time, he's brilliant, he can put together the smallest details and knows how to make that leap of faith in his own abilities, to figure out the puzzle.
He is fantastically written, and the rest of the characters play each aspect of an ensemble wonderfully.
They throw in tiny nuggets of fanboyism, and pop culture. Some that I actually KNOW! Considering I'm a late 80s/early 90s chick myself, my knowledge of modern pop culture is so low, I'd fail any modern quiz.
The characters are, while wild and completely nutters, also believable. I love the progression of their relationships, how they're evolving as friends, as co-workers, and as 'enemies' or whatever sibling style relationship Shawn and Lassie have.
I'm a huge fan of character developement, and deep plots. This series gives a good blend of each, while keeping it witty and fresh enough that even kids can watch it and enjoy. It is, all and all, brilliant and fantastically cast. And I REALLY wish we didn't have to wait another TWO BLOODY MONTHS!
(PS, OT: Whatever happened to Lil Shawn and Gus? Those sketches were hilarious!)
