Hi all,

Some of you might know me from the Burn Notice forums, but for those who don't, I'm an online producer for a regional newspaper and I do my fair share of blogging through our TV Watchers site. I was one of about 15 people invited to the Royal Pains set back on May 20th, and leading up the premiere we're building out a multimedia page complete with transcripts of interviews with the cast members, pictures, video and more. You can check it out HERE.

Look forward to chatting with all of you about the show. I really loved the pilot episode! smile.gif

*Edited to add: We're also doing a giveaway for a pretty awesome Royal Pains tote bag full of nifty prizes. That should be going live in the next day or so. When I have the link I'll drop it on the page.

Do you think that the pilot was shown enough? I mean really. Personally, I got sick of seeing it. And, twice in a row on Saturday. /sigh

No Pain For USA Original Series

Royal Pains' Becomes Net's First Scripted Show To Post Key Demo Gains In Second Week
Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 6/14/2009 5:16:00 AM MT
There were gains for Royal Pains during its second week.

The USA Network original series about a concierge doctor in The Hamptons recorded a 2% increase among adults 18 to 49 and a 3% uptick among persons 25 to 54 during its June 11 telecast at 10 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research data.
Network officials said this marked the first time one of its original scripted shows had registered advances with those key demos during its second telecast, versus its premiere.

During its debut, Royal Pains averaged 2.5 million adults 25-to-54 watchers, 2.3 million adults 18 to 49 and 5.6 million viewers overall, an audience that was matched by the premiere of the series' second show, which stars Mark Feuerstein as a young blacklisted New York doctor who reluctantly finds a calling in the affluent Long Island community.

And the news just gets better and better (at least for Royal Pains):

'Pains' Growing Royally In The Ratings For USA
Concierge Doctor Series Draws 6.5 Million; Registers Key Demo Gains
Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 6/20/2009 12:03:00 AM MT

Sometimes pain hurts so good.

Case in point: USA Network's original concierge doctor series Royal Pains continued to build during its third week.
The series, starring Mark Feuerstein as a defrocked New York doctor who finds his calling among the swells and workers in The Hamptons, averaged a 4.6 household rating and 6.5 million viewers on June 18 in the 10 p.m. hour, according to Nielsen Media Research data. That result marked the third best original series viewer average for USA, according to network officials.
Included in that total were 3 million adults 25-to-54 watchers, 2.8 million persons 18 to 49 and 1.4 million of the 18-to-34 set.

During the June 11 premiere of its second installment, Royal Pains registered with 5.59 million viewers, 2.35 million adults 18 to 49 and 2.6 million of the 25-to-54 crowd. Network officials remarked at the time that the show was the first USA original series to show growth with key demos coming out of its premiere.

The June 18 numbers, meanwhile, also represented significant growth since the series' debut on June 4: respective advances of 17%, 18%, 23% and 31% among viewers, adults 25 to 54, 18 to 49 and 18 to 34.
The show was the top scripted show on TV June 18 among persons 18 to 49, according to USA officials.

Lead-in Burn Notice, after losing 13% of its 6 million viewers from its third-season premiere on June 4 last week to 5.24 miliion watchers, rebounded 11% to 5.8 million on June 18.

This is a question for siggy26: Now that we RP fans are in series withdrawal, do you have any info on what the
cast from the show are doing while on hiatus? I know that Mark is tending to new Dad duties this month, but what about the others? If we can't see our "faves" on the series, maybe we can catch them doing something else. Inquiring minds want to know! Thanks!

I know where you'll be able to see Campbell Scott (Boris). He's joining the cast of Damages.

Excerpt from EW:
Exclusive: 'Damages' retains Campbell Scott

Damages has booked its first season 3 client: Campbell Scott is joining the cast as a series regular, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Truthfully, I don’t know if the former Six Degrees star is playing Patti’s new client, colleague, or arch nemesis. An FX insider tells me that producers are keeping details about Scott’s character — and the new season as a whole — very close to the vest.

Here are two things I do know for sure: Production resumes at the end of September and the third season is slated to debut in January.

It probably won't affect his work on Royal Pains since the season for Damages is also pretty short (13 episodes), they should wrap on that show before Royal Pains resumes shooting.
