I have had a lot of fun with this arcade site, and I can completely understand the need to advertise to keep it free and high quality. HOWEVER, I really find it annoying to have my game interrupted by them now. Is this new?? This is so annoying that it might be a deal breaker for me. sad.gif

Does anyone else feel the same way?

yes, I have really enjoyed the games and the advertising has never bothered me, in fact i enjoy some of them. but having a game stopped in the middle for an ad is very annoying.

I almost completely agree. However, when your game was interrupted, your first thought was that the arcade started started adding the ads because they needed the money. And yes, I do believe they are doing it for the money. But that wasn't my first thought. You see each time my game has been repeatedly interrupted, it was a promo for "The Hangover". So, for me following 'what the heck', the first thought that entered my mind was, "how bad can this movie be?" One of the games I like to play is mahjong, but recently I haven't been completing my games because I kept getting interrupted a couple of times. I would simply lose focus then interest. Tonight I decided to see how many times my game would be stopped before I managed to finish it. The game took me just over 15 minutes and was broken up THREE times. About every five minutes and always a promo for "The Hangover"?!!! I had a few thoughts; How bad can this movie possibly be? Does some portion of the USA corp. family have a interest in it? Or are the movies advertisers, producers, whoever paying a boatload of money to USA? Do they realize they are risking an adverse result, like irritating movie goers to the point of repulsion or causing people to wonder how bad ...? I really hope that it is the movie advertisers who are the cause and it is not a pemanent change in fomatting. In addition, I hope they discover that this type of advertising causes a turn-off factor, so other advertisers won't try this tact. As you said, my games being pemanently disrupted is an absolute deal braker. For now, I'm avoiding mahjong and possibly the arcade entirely until after the fifth of june.

Here's hoping this just a temporary irritation and not a pemanent pain. I play these games to relax and being irritated defends the purpose. And I'm not into pain.

Oh yes. I had the same thought! I have absolutely no desire to see that movie now.

However, I did find myself craving Cheetos the other day, and thinking about an Altima. And some of the Tostitos ads are pretty darn funny! smile.gif

I hope USA realizes quickly that this is backfiring. I wonder what their stats say?

I am with you all. I understand the need for ads, and I understand why I have to sit through the ladies and the Cheetos 50000 times before the games start. Interrupting the games with ads makes my simple mind lose its place as to what I had planned to do next. I've gone from being mildly amused by "Hangover" ads to being repulsed by the movie. So, if the goal was to saturate me with a desire to see the movie, it's failed miserably. I'm hoping it's some weird glitch and will stop magically when people get to work on Monday. Characters Unite? Well, we're united in hating having games interrupted by ads we've already seen ad nauseum.

I feel the same way. I use to come on this site to relax...now I can't even concentrate or focus on the games because it's interrupted so many times with ads. Was going to see "The Hangover" but now it just makes me totally sick to see the ads and I now have no desire to see it. I know they need the money from the advertisements, but this is totally rediculous. If this keeps up, I'm going back to Pogo.com where there are no advertisements. I sent USA an email and have yet to get a reply. Seems they just don't care about the players.

I completely agree. If the purpose of advertising is to entice people into doing things being advertised what USA character arcade is doing is completely opposite of advertising. I was so annoyed that I vowed never to see or rent that movie EVER!!!! The sponsors should be aware of the fact that this new way of expanding exposures is killing their products/services for many of us, game lovers.

TY, TY, TY you did listen to us, USA Character Arcade. Thanks so much for taking off so many ads and interrupting our games. Maybe I will go see that movie now. LOL

Sorry, but I still see too many interruptions. PLEASE only run the ads at the start of a game, NOT in the middle. I stopped playing on this site until I saw that maybe it was fixed. I was so happy to hear that it was better, but it's NOT. Please listen to us. sad.gif

I am getting the Nationwide ads every 5 minutes it seems. Will someone please tell marketing that this is not the way to do it?

i have sent my feedback to USA about the ads interrupting games. maybe if enough people do the same, they will stop doing it. i mean, really, it's nonsense to interrupt games with ads. we sit through the ads before the games and that's enough. interrupting games just makes this site annoying rather than enjoyable. please click on the "beta feedback" link (red tab at the upper left hand corner of the character arcade page) and tell them how annoying you think it is that they interrupt the games with ads!

Thanks for all the feedback. You'll be happy to know that in-game ads have now been turned off!

There are pop up ads that interrupt as well. I've been playing the character mahjong and there's a walmart ad that covers the game board. And when I scroll over it to close it, it expands. When I click the "X" to close it, it stays small but still covers the board. Anyway to fix this?
