There was such a big Daddy build-up toward the end of last season that I thought he would somehow "show his face" this time around. In the what-do-fans-want-to-see-most category, "Dad appearing" was second only to "Mary and Marshall shipping".

Other than Jinx searching for him on-line, Dad seems to have been forgotten. Any word on whether Dad will be joining us this season?

Give it time. There's a lot of groundwork that has to be laid, and these things never happen quickly. He'll probably be back this season, but not early in the season.

I think we'll get a few bits and clues here and there about Dad, and he has to show up one day. And when he does show up, that will be a doozy. It seems like Mary has really built him up in her mind and hero-worships him a little bit (which isn't all that uncommon when someone "loses" a parent at a young age) and I think she's in for a rude awakening. He may have been good to her, but the bottom line is that he did abandon his family when his children were very young (and this was after a life of bank robbing and gambling) and I'm guessing he probably really isn't Father of the Year material.


I think we will get some clues this season:

The Rabbi gave Mary his card at the end of “Aguna Matatala” and told her that he could “find anyone” no matter how long he had been gone. I don’t think Mary is going to be able to resist the urge to use his services. She knows his work since he was able to locate her witness, as well as find out where she lives. She knows that he can deliver. It is probably just a matter of time before she succumbs, unable to resist the possibility of getting answers to the “whys” she has, and maybe even some form of “closure”. It may not be too long before the Rabbi’s hunt for dad is on.

Contrary to the old adage, you can always go home again but the one who returns is never the one who left. I wonder what Dad has been doing all these years.
