Full Version: RE: Eleanor Price, Super Annoying Office Assistant

Hi, all! Ok, what do you think about the annoying, desk-moving new assistant Eleanor Price?

Personally, I don't like her. She seems to think of herself in a "prime" roll, not a "supporting" role like an office assistant should. She's supposedly there to do "officy" things, NOT move desks around and be annoying.

But that's just what I think.

What do YOU think?

*And yeah, we defo need more Marshall time!
closetfan
I have mixed feeling about her. I thought she was a PITA to just decide to rearrange furniture, but then..........she gets rid of the FBI prick with just a phone call.

Something's up with her. Just not sure. Stan knows what's going on and I think she's more than just an assistant.

Summer_Fun
She's fine so far. She's there to balance Mary a bit, and add some energy to the office scenes, which she accomplished. I loved the scene where she took care of O'Connor with a phone call. I'm not sure she's more than she appears to be, but she's definitely connected.
Nauriel
I kinda have mixed feelings about her, and they're rather paradoxical. On one hand, its so annoying that she moved the desks around and thinks she can boss Mary and Marshall around. But on the other hand, its kinda refreshing to finally have someone that won't stand for Mary's bs.

I can sence some great tension coming along.

And I do have a bit more respect for her since she called that FBI jerk's boss. Great moment.
lovethatmonk
I agree with everyone here that she is a pest...but she got rid of the FBI guy PDQ...I think she has some serious connection within the FBI or CIA...she is someone to keep an eye on...

That moving furniture bit was a little over the top. Shows a certain amount of arrogance. Of course, she only got away with it for that short time because Mary was trying so hard NOT to show how traumatized she was by what had happened to her.

I loved her clearing out the agents with one-phone-call. No doubt she is connected. I'm looking forward to her and Mary butting heads. No doubt she can handle herself. Mary can't "bully" her the way she bullies Marshall and Stan. No doubt more sparks will fly.

So far, the writers have given Mary all the good "confrontation lines", but we shall see how it plays….
Tamuril
Eleanor is most definitely annoying, but she makes a great foil for Mary and is a good addition to the team. I can't say as I like her per se, but I can definitely respect her abilities and she would be far more annoying to me if she was just some milquetoast, cardboard cutout with no spark.

As for only being there to do 'office-y things', believe me, it's the clerks and secretaries who make things run. You don't know what truly screwed is until you've managed to piss off the clerks in charge of your promotions, pay or assignments. tongue.gif

I do like how Eleanor's relationship with Mary is developing. I started out not liking her at all (I don't like micro-managers in general), but she is another character that has grown on me.

And the look on her face after Mary kissed her was priceless!

I suppose I'm not surprised by the development of a romance with Stan, but I was a bit unclear last night on how long it's been going on. In that last scene it just didn't look like it was the first time something like that had happened between them.
djiaf
Did anyone else think that Eleanor is Gwen? That would explain why Stan threw the paper away. He already knew where she was.
Summer_Fun
I don't find her terribly annoying, aside from her presumptions (moving the desk would have make me boil, too.) She's added a bit of energy to the office that was needed. I'm really enjoying the evolution of her relationship with Mary. They'll backslide next week, but will gradually move toward some sort of friendship. Mary could use a woman friend, especially given the situation at home. I think it was very significant that Eleanor was there when Peter brought Brandi home; it will be interesting to see where that goes.
Nauriel
Agreed. I didn't really like her at first, but after "One Night Stan" I'm almost in love. She's a really unique girl, and I like that she doesn't take flak from anyone.

I was actually thinking the same thing. In fact, I went back to see if Gwen looked like a young Eleanor and that really didn't help much. I didn't think that Eleanor looked too much like Gwen after I went back and looked, although there was a similarity. I was also thinking that's why Stan was protecting "Gwen" by leaving out the missing page. Also, it would explain why Gwen as Eleanor went to Mary as she didn't perhaps want Stan to get in trouble trying to protect her. Although that could also be explained by Stan and Eleanor's relationship that we saw at the end. Maybe she isn't Gwen at all- just that they are in love. Whew, I'm confusing myself .

I think Eleanor and Gwen are definitely the same person. That requires one of two things to be true however. Either the Cliff DeYoung character was lying at ABQ PD, or Gwen left the program after the Cliff DeYoung character transferred her after the murder.

I think they are the same person, there is always plastic surgery to alter ones face. wink.gif

I don't think Eleanor is Gwen. Before they learned that the second body in the ground wasn't Gwen, it really seemed like Stan was going to be in a lot of trouble. I think Eleanor cares enough about Stan that if she were really Gwen, she would have come forward and identified herself to get Stan off the hook so he wouldn't be accused of her murder.
Markl
Perhaps she is Gwen or he threw away the note because he didn't need to contact Gwen as he was in love with Eleanor and didn't need to visit a ghost in his heart. It doesn't matter if this was great writing or a pure accident: there is now a powerful ambiguity that the show can leverage with the fan base. I think they will work to keep it ambiguous on purpose from now on regardless of how this began.

Remember the show "Magnum, P.I."? There was a point in time in the series where fans started suggesting that Higgins and Robin Masters could be one in the same. Even though there were many previous episodes that made this 'impossible' the producers and writers of the show ran with the fans' desire to take it there. Once they saw it was a curiosity that had hooked the fan base they ran with it and monopolized upon it.

I think you'll see the same thing here with Eleanor (or perhaps it is wishful thinking on my part). Whether Eleanor and Gwen were ever intended to be one in the same or not will never matter from this day forward. I'd be shocked if the producers and writers in this show don't capitalize on the ambiguity that the fan base has latched on to and milk it for everything it is worth. We'll never know the answer as they now have to keep us wondering for as long as they possibly to give us something to keep us hooked on the series.

One clue to if this was their intent of not...let's see how many episodes go by before they capitalize on it... If next week then you know it was intended all along as these episodes are already in 'the can'. If it takes a few episodes or even until next season then you know it was an accident that they decided to then run with to keep the fans more engaged.

I think Eleanor is Gwen too. Look how she was threatening that guy in Boston to track down the gun that shot the comedian back in `88. Sounded like she was fighting really really hard for someone, as in Stan.

And...remember the name of the show...In Plain Sight. rolleyes.gif
lovethatmonk
I don't think they are the same two people. I believe that Stan already knew Eleanor before...maybe worked with her or something...she can read people rather well.. We will see if this storyline will continue...but I was shocked to see that they were a couple... ohmy.gif

I didn't think Eleanor and Gwen were the same person, but I was shocked to see them together at the end of the last episode.

I just wanted to drop in and leave my opinion of Eleanor. I love her! I love that one minute she is pushing Mary's buttons, then the next she is being totally professional about taking Mary's directions, and the next she is mothering Mary. Mary needs all 3 of these elements in her life and Eleanor fits the bill.

I don't think she is Gwen, but I'll have to watch carefully to see if there are any hints in the future.

The first thing I thought of after watching was Eleanor has to be Gwen There just seemed to be something about the way Stan looked at her in every episode. Someone go back and take a look and see if I'm only dreaming.

I loved the scene with the stapler and when Mary stapled all the files together!! Too funny! tongue.gif

I agree! I thought there was something between them from the very beginning of this season. Eleanor was very protective and nurturing to Stan. Then with the Gwen thing... I guess we'll see. I just love this show!

This is the way the last scene with Stan sitting on the bed went for me:

1. When I saw the woman in the shadow, I thought it was Gwen, and that he threw the phone number away because he already knew where to find her.

2. When she moved into the light and I saw that it was Eleanor, I thought she must be Gwen.

3. Then I thought, no she isn't Gwen. Stan and Eleanor have been warming up for a couple of episodes. AND the reason he threw Gwen's number away, is that he and Eleanor are together now. AND because as we all know, "…you can't go home again."

I don't think Eleanor is Gwen. Gwen is the past, and I think Stan wants to let sleeping dogs...

Eleanor and Mary have sort of grown on each other. They make allowances in conversation to allow for a snarky comment of the other, "C'mon, Eleanor, man up."

The Eleanor character was a great addition to the show. Mary's conversations with Marshall and Eleanor are my favorite parts of the show. The dialogue crackles.
Basia77
I really like Eleanor now too (I didn't at first). I think she is a great addition to the show and I hope she sticks around. She's a great foil for Mary.

Sorry but I like her. Mary's job is not funny so working in some sarcastic comedy has to come from somewhere. Marshal badgering her ALL the time would wear out the relationship...Elanor can light her up all day long and it works because we know that is her role.

I WANT EPISODE 16!!!!

I also really like Eleanor. I just hope the network doesn't get rid of Eleanor, or Holly Maples decide to leave, now that David Maples will be in a "consulting" role. I also wish they'd update us on the Eleanor/Stan relationship. It's been several episodes since any mention was made of it. Maybe something was in Episode 16.

Ditto. I love Eleanor. Holly Maples has great comedic timing and she'd be a shame to lose. And I'd like to see what happened with her and Stan. I liked how Mary and Marshall were trying to find clues a couple of times and gossiping about it like kids. She's great for the show.

I love Eleanor! At first, I didn't, but she grew on me. I love how she gives it right back to Mary & their developing relationship. I bet they will end up as great friends. I think she's funny & a great addition to the show. Loved how, in the season finale, when they were all eavesdropping on Frescesa & heard her say "Is that her? She holds all the power in the room. May I go introduce myself?" And then she introduces herself to Eleanor. That was classic!

I've a feeling that they are great friends right now. This is about as good as it gets with someone like Mary. So I don't see them developing as chums. Wouldn't be fun anymore.

I'm also an Eleanor fan. Think she is a great addition to the show.

With so much going on—that exchange slipped my mind. I thought it was great—also enjoyed Marshall ragging Mary about it.
