If it'd give me a whole episode of "Dazzle and Stretch" caliber genious, I'd be all up for it! I'm pretty sure the network execs would absolutely not go for it though, given their apparent displeasure at having been surprised with the small bit of musical that happened in the first season.

Ya i remember that little bit in the commentary =P Im just gonna be optimistic and hope that they go for it and we get the musical XD

But I'm sure if they TOLD the network in advanced then it could work, I mean if there is a logical reason for thm breaking out in song and dance, Shawn could be having a dream! OH!

I've already written lyrics to the first song they should do.

Okay, here goes. Just so you know, the song is being sung to a new guy who is going to work at the station, that way there's a reason for a song that introduces the characters. And on a side note, I was very much ispired by the Scrubs musical episode.

JULIET
Welcome to Santa Barbra!
Our police force here is great!
Ranked in the top ten
One of the highest in the state!

LASSITER
Hi! I'm Carlton Lassiter,
Now get out of my face!

JULIET
Saorry about that, kid
It's been stressful 'round this place

This is the chief! (Hello)
That's Buzz McNabb
That's the interrogating
Room where you can grab...

...All the information that you need to get a case!
ALL (EXCEPT LASSY)
Boy! Isn't it great to be working at this place?

LASSITER
No, it's a pain
I can't take it anymore!
Especially since
Spencer walked through that door!

SHAWN
Psychic vibrations led me down here
Please tell me why, Juliet my dear

JULIET
Shawn...

LASSITER
Spencer just get out!
We don't need you here right now!

SHAWN
Aww! Come on Lassy Face!
There's no need to have a cow!

Being the head psychic
I can tell there's something wrong

ALL
Especially since
We're talking through song!?

(SONG ENDS)

CHEIF VICK
Mr. Spencer, I need you in my office right now.

SHAWN
Well... that was nothing like Xanadu.

Thank you. I like the lastline too, but that came out by accident because I wrote the word "wrong" and it rhymed with song so I was like OMG! It worked out for the best. I'll write the next song later... when I actually get around to writing it during one of my finaly days in school. TWO WEEKS LEFT FOR ME!!!!! Then highschool woot!

A Psych Musical... LOL. I'm not a fan of musicals because of what Disney did to them. But with a Psych musical, that would be amazing. The best cast ever!
DramaQueenBroadway
While I think that a "Psych" musical would be amazing, I don't know how well it would work. I'm a HUGE musical fan. It might only work depending on what the exact storyline of that particular case is. It also might depend on where you put the songs. Some of the most successful musicals, and I tend to agree with this theory, work well because they put the songs in logical places where the characters would naturally sing anyways. They don't just put a song in there just for the sake of putting a song in there. Or some musicals put songs in where the characters have so many emotions that the only way to effectively get them out would be to sing a song. I think characterwise, "Psych" would do well because there's a lot of character development and the characters also have some quirks to them (ex: Shawn's photographic memory) which would go over well with a live audience. Another plus would be the "Psych" is somewhat comedic, which audiences tend to to respond well too. Having been in a few comedies myself, I can tell you that the comedies were the most successful overall.
Anyways, that's my rant for now, I'll probably come up with more later rolleyes.gif
Tippy_Tipster
Im just gonna bump this for anyone who hasnt seen it yet =)
JulietOhara
How about a spoof of a musical, like a bit from Momma Mia? Can you imagine the cast of Psych singing Abba hits? Not that it would happen though. It would be nice if they would bring back the Psych-outs!
Heartbreak_Princess
I totally signed! A Psych musical would be amazing! They'd definitely beat Scrubs! Don't get me wrong, I love the Scrubs musical, but I think Psych could top them. Mostly because pretty much every member of the cast can sing!

Hmm, well yes I think Psych could do a very good job with it, the only thing is they'd have to have a legitamate reason for the singing, Scrubs did a good job with that because the woman imagined the singing and she was always in the room when the characters were singing. It'd be easy for it to just be a dream, and Shawn was watching something with singing or something... but that's copying the Even Stevens musical episode, if they do it I'm sure the writers would pull it off well.

I need to put up more lyrics...

Another thing just came to mind: are we talking about a live show like on Broadway or just something like a episode that's a musical? Either way, while I do think that the cast could pull it off, I'm still a little unsure about if it would work or not.

A musical episode... and I know the cast and crew (i.e. Steve) would *love* to have a musical episode. (Yes, just like Buffy, Scrubs, and Chicago Hope have all had musical episodes.) If, or *when*, it happens, it will work because Psych is just awesome that way to make thing work (like a sea lion being murdered or a dinosaur killing someone).
DramaQueenBroadway
I can see them having fun with it...they look like they have fun during the musical Psych-outs!!!! I'm still kind of unsure about how well it would work but I don't think that they'd have too much of a problem pulling it off.
Psych_Fan22
I love it when the cast sings! A whole episode of that?!?!?! BRILLIANT!!!! biggrin.gif

I signed!!

I could be on board for this. I'd even be more enthusiastic if the producers/writers could somehow collaborate with Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks for the "libretto".

For those of you not familiar with Sparks, they're the ones who wrote the "Pineapple" [Pineapple... Gotta send a case to the city jail...] song.

And they've already written a radio musical about acclaimed Swedish director Ingmar Bergman that'll premiere next week (http://radiodupree.blogspot.com/2009/05/sparks-meet-ingmar-bergman.html). So if Ron and Russell can write a musical on such an enigma, they'd be a shoe-in to do one for a show as quirky as they are.

You can see a bit of a musical "meme" in their concerts:

Speaking of that Ingemar Bergman musical, you can listen to it in its entirety here.

EDIT: They moved this recording into their archives:

In fact, a lot of the incidental music used in Psych seems very similar in style to the music used here.
