Full Version: Tenth Season

I just finished watching the final season of JAG for the first time. Now I have seen every episode at least once.

Although I liked every episode, obviously there were some I liked better than others - LOL

I felt season ten was a disappointment. It seemed like the typical series that was slipping in the ratings and the producers had no idea how to save it, so they tried everything. There was no harmony at the JAG headquarters, everyone was antagonistic towards each other. They brought in new characters that didn't mesh, and featured them too much. The camera work that had been so outstanding had definitely degraded as they tried moving styles. And I really missed AJ, but I guess most of us did. It felt more like a soap opera instead of a military/court series. Part way through the season, Harm and Mac got their ribbons updated overnight without any mention about it. Plus some other small irritants.

BUT, at least it was another season to watch, and as such, it was appreciated.

The last episode ending didn't bother me as I thought it might. I felt a closure there, with room for a spin-off movie or two (or three or four). I viewed it as Mac went with Harm. I chose this ending based on two factors. First, Harm was in full uniform and Mac was in civvies for the last scene. Second, Mac had chosen tails on the challenge coin and the freeze frame was on heads.

How did the rest of you JAG-heads feel about the final season?

Your summary of Season 10 pretty much is mine, too. Loved the series, wished there were more than 7.5 minutes at the end of Fair Winds & Following Seas to get Mac/Harm together, but was ready to let it end since it seemed to be aimless its last year.

I don't have the time or patience to dig further in the USA forum archives, but I googled and found this which might give a flavor of the group's thought in 2006.

I do recall in other entries that there were at least two scripts being considered for the final episode, the other with a very different story line involving Mac and that red dress. The best I can remember, the end result was using some of each script, with Harm's dress uniform being part of the ceremony when he became a captain - this has a name, but I don't remember. We did not see the ceremony of course.

Thanks for the link Ninja_Girl. It was great to see past references to the series. I didn't know they were there. Also glad to see I wasn't alone in my feelings. It's a shame older folks (like me) don't count for much in these decisions, but no one ever said life should be fair.

At least I got to see over 200 great episodes and still have a hope (however small) of a sequel movie or two. I'd like to see how Admiral Rabb would handle the "kids" - LOL.

Hello all, this may sound crazy to you but I have been trying to find season 9 and 10 especially the last episode to watch. Checked Best Buy and they say 9 and 10 are not out yet but I see them on the internet. I dont want to buy the ones recorded off of TV.
So if by chance would someone direct me in the right direction.
Thank You
Wizard

I don't believe they have been released yet. I've just had to wait until either USA, Sleuth, or HDNET air them. Lately they've been airing the series in order and when they get to the end, they just start over. Not sure if anyone else has another solution.

Fortunately, the series is still being aired. At least we can still enjoy it, just not in our choice of random order.
