'PSYCH' WILL INCLUDE NEW ROMANTIC STORYLINES THIS SEASON

USA's action-comedy Psych returns next week with the premiere of the first half of the show's fourth season. James Roday stars as phony psychic detective Shawn Spencer and Dulé Hill is back as Shawn's best pal Gus. Last season ended with Shawn deciding to get back together with his old flame Abigail, rather than start something up with Detective Juliet O'Hara (Maggie Swanson). But, Roday tells us, there may still be a future for Jules and Shawn: "It's a marathon, that relationship. I think everybody gets that. There's gonna to be a lot of going in circles and missed timing and hurdles that have to be cleared in order for something to ever actually happen."


Hill tells us that Gus will finally get a chance at love this season. He said, "It's been a long time coming, so Gus has a bit of pent-up energy. That will be taken care of the second half of the season." At last week's Comic-Con, he joked that he was hoping to get Halle Berry to play his girlfriend -- but "for some reason she doesn't want to come do our show, I don't understand."


According to Roday, Rachel Leigh Cook, who plays Shawn's love interest Abigail, will be seen "sporadically" on the show throughout the whole fourth season.


In this clip from the premiere episode of season 4, airing Friday, August 7th, Gus and Shawn go skiing in Canada, but it looks like they won't be picking up girls: "(Shawn): Man a month ago I would have had us styled up with those girls tonight. (Gus): What? (Shawn) But, I'm spoken for now. I have Abigail and she has me."

I watched Six Feet Under the Sea online a few minutes after I watched it on TV, but that may have been after midnight on the east coast, so I dunno for sure.

Last season they were usually up around 1-3 am Saturday. Because I would get home from doing stuff friday night and wind down with some psych before bed.

Yep, usually it is the next day... and, like someone else said, about 1-3am on Saturday morning.

*However*, as the season goes on, there is usually a point where "due to streaming restrictions" (whatever the hell that means), the episodes get shifted to being posted a *WEEK* (the NEXT Saturday) after the episode airs. That's when it really sucks to not have cable (I'm in the same boat).

I use bit torrent and have it an hour after it airs in New York

I can't believe they changed it to the mid-season finale!?!?! They were even saying at comic con that it was the third episode! This is torture! They gave us the plot and a bunch of pictures and are now making us wait another month!! We've already waited for Psych long enough It seems like everything related to Psych is being pushed back(DVD release, premiere date..)

I'm actually not surprised, kind of expected it even. I think it would be a great way to end the first half of the season and keep momentum going for the second half. As much as I hate to wait, I'd have to say it makes sense if that's how they decide to do it.

it totally makes sense for it to be the finale.
it was kinda bugging me how it was gonna be the 3rd episode and then in the 4th he would be ok. if they do it as the finale, shawn can "heal" or whatever over the hiatus so when he comes back in jan. he's fine. kinda like the chief's maternity leave.

i still wish that it was sooner just because i want to see it so badly! but it does make sense

OMG OMG! Just came from Twitter where they said that Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark will air AUGUST 21st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now if you'll excuse me I have some happy dancing to do.

I saw that too and I'm kinda sad because I won't be able to see it when it airs I wish they could make it like the fourth episode or something but this is still good.

TPTB can't make 'Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark' the midseason finale, because in the 'someone's trying to kill Lassiter' episode there's a plot line involving Shawn talking about the Chief paying for his psychotherapy. The PD paying for the therapist doesn't make sense unless it's post-trauma, i.e., the shooting.

I am more than happy not to have to wait until week 8 to see Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark.
