laugh.gif Well if they start out like they did in the International Pilot, a whole lot a rockin' will be goin' on. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif tongue.gif

But as noted earlier, I look forward to the cooking. Oh..there's Gus' "first dad", Ernie Hudson, on the Tony Awards. I didn't realize he was in a play. Nice! biggrin.gif

When my mom read the article in TV Guide she said "domestic" sounds like they're going to have him living with someone. I don't think they'd be that extreme with their relationship, given the fact that Shawn has never truly had a real one. I guess you never know. I am looking forward to seeing the Abigail stuff, but I'm totally not looking forward to it. Does that make sense? laugh.gif

It does make sense. I am intrigued and interested in what the show will do with it, and I'm sure it will be great. But then again, knowing that Jules has already poured her heart out to Shawn and having to watch her go through this, and knowing that Shawn also has deep feelings for Jules...it's gonna hurt.

Exactly. I'm really happy that they're expanding with Shawn. After all, I think if they're eventually going to have Shawn and Juliet together he needs to prove to her and himself that he can maintain a relationship and be mature about it. I agree, it's going to be great to watch his character evolve, but painful for Juliet. Hopefully whatever they have in store for us won't be too harsh. I suppose I could be jumping to conclusions because we don't even know how many episodes Rachel Leigh Cook's story arc will be. Regardless, I look forward to seeing the evolution of Shawn's maturity and a side of him we've never seen before, but I do have reservations about how they're going to execute the storylines. I'm not worried though, I trust our beloved Psych writers biggrin.gif

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- USA will launch the new seasons of its Friday mainstays "Monk" and "Psych" on August 7.

The news marks the latest summer rollouts for both series, topping last year's July 18 start date.

"Monk" is entering its eighth (and final) season while "Psych" is bowing its fourth season.

Meanwhile, the cable channel has also confirmed "Burn Notice" will wrap the front half of its third season on Thursday, August 6 while "Royal Pains" will conclude its freshman run on Thursday, August 27. Look for the back half of "Burn's" new season in early 2010.

And finally, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "In Plain Sight" will conclude their respective seasons on Sunday, August 9.

(via spoiler TV) They're really spreading out their summer programming this year, as we all seemed to expect. Either way Psych is still gonna end roughly around the same time it did last year. Thankfully I have Burn Notice and In Plain Sight leading up to it, Royal Pains seems to be something else I'm gonna be sticking with.

Anyway, nothing that we didn't already know, but it was posted earlier and thought I'd share.

i read all the stuff and my reasoning is: its still far away enough that unless i read something major, i'll probably forget about it by the time the episode comes on. this is the 4th episode or something right? which means its probaly not airing til early september? thats still a good distance away.

so read away! hahah smile.gif

I read that puppy as soon as I saw the spoiler alert come across Twitter. I was taking a break during a three hour conference call (yes...quite long but very productive).

Laughed out loud on several spots, and was quite happy how they twisted this thang. So I look forward to it now (I was quite leary from the earlier description, but now I'm totally cool now...whooohooo for spoilers!!!)

Jane in Reston, Va.: Can't wait for Psych, can't believe I have to wait until freaking August to see it! Any news?
Psych is currently looking for a new slightly older (teenage) Young Shawn. But gah, what does that mean for the current Young Shawn, played by Liam James?! We love that kid!
From Spoiler TV

Ugh I hope Liam will still be our Little Shawn! I hope this is just for something else!

I have a feeling it'd be Roday, but I suppose you never know. Judging by the storyline, I'd say it's James, lol.

From Ausiello. Lassie Storyline Alert!!

Psych: James Brolin (a.k.a. Mr. Barbra Streisand) has signed on to appear in a season 4 episode entitled, "High Noon-ish." He'll play Hank, a sheriff in Old Sanora, a city which has recently found itself the victim of vandalism. Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) spent a lot of time there growing up and sees Hank as something of a father figure. Psych's fourth season kicks off Aug. 7.

Now that's good casting. James Brolin is an excellent choice for that role. And YES! Lassie story lines! I think this season will rock. Now if they would just get Tim Omundson and Maggie Lawson on the episode commentaries, all will be right with the world.

I did not, but I'm going to check now!

* biggrin.gif I've wondered the same thing about "Lassy" and "Lassie". And I am definitely still hoping that that slight hesitation I heard in James' voice in the Yang commentary about Shules means something positive for us! I've resigned myself to the likely inevitable, but if James isn't feeling it, or not feeling it for anytime soon, I think that can only be a good thing!

You all know how I feel about Shabigail, I hate it, but love it. I just hope whatever they do, it's nothing too awkward or agonizing for Juliet.

Well may be she breaks up with him in the 5th episode Shawn takes a shot in the dark because she doesn't want to be the girl that gets the call in the middle of the night. But we do need Abigail to help with Shawn and relationships if are are to get Shules

Oh yeah definitely. Abigail is really good for Shawn right now. I think he has to prove to himself and everyone else that he's capable of maintaining a meaningful relationship. They are really making me happy with Shawn's evolution, though.

I wonder if we're gonna get anymore spoilers in this upcoming interview.

I'll admit, I am against Shules in general... but also because I really do feel that the moment a couple that has had continual UST during the full fun of a show gets together, the show often loses something (unless the fight/split up, etc). Even though I'm not big on Shules, I have liked how the writers have handled it to this point, with timing problems and miscues and other love interests and flirting that may or may not be serious. (Hence the second question for the writers on how they will continue to write that dynamic.)

While I understand that Shules fans may not want to see Shabigail, especially for the 'pain' it may cause Juliet... part of what keeps the show going is putting the characters through *real* emotion. Just like the necessity for an episode like Mr. Yang, where Shawn was different from the Shawn we're used to, not because he was out of character, but because of realistic emotion driving the character's action. Unfortunately for Shules fans, "happy ever after" rarely makes for good TV.

JMHO. I know it's not necessarily popular opinion around here, but it's there and it's mine.

It's not a popular stance, but you're certainly not the only one who holds it!

I pretty much agree with everything you said. There have been a couple times I've felt like the Shules element was being forced a little bit, though. The worst to me was the ending of "Talk Derby to Me". Nonetheless, I'm enjoying how they've been developing Shawn through it all. The writers have done a really good job of making sure Shawn still feels like Shawn, even when he's not acting as he normally does. I can't wait to see how Shawn's going to deal with some of the stuff coming in the new season, specifically being shot! I should not be as excited as I am about him being a victim of violence, but I really can't wait!

No, I completely understand what you're saying. I am a Shules fan, but I do support the Shabigail aspect of the show. The writers have done a good job with this storyline, especially because it's one that needs to be handled with care. We certainly don't want to see them jump the gun with something like this and have it sacrifice the integrity of the show.

I realize that a storyline like this is necessary because it truly does produce wonderful character development that fuels the show, and gives the viewers real emotion that enables us to connect with the characters and brings us back every week. It would conjure up 'pain' in anyone in real life who is in the situation they have Juliet in, I just don't want it to be so dramatic or painful that she hardly interacts with Shawn. I can't imagine that they would do something like that, though. I'm not saying they shouldn't send angst the characters way, if they didn't develop the characters, they'd be cardboard and I don't think that would make anyone particularly pleased. Other than that, I can't wait for what they have in store for Shawn. I want to see him in these kinds of situations.

I really want to know what's planned out in Steve's head, cause I'm sure he's got this whooooole thing figured out, lol.
uhhPINEAPPLES
I am a Shawn and Juliet supporter, but I do think the Shawn and Abigail relationship is necessary for the show and Shawn's character development. However, I can't really see the "Shabigail" thing working out for very long. I feel like Shawn & Juliet trust each other more than Abigail & Shawn and they seem to have more chemistry.
I don't want Shawn and Jules to get together this season, though. It still seems too soon. Shawn needs some major maturing before that.
I REAAALLY hope they don't make Juliet suffer, though, because I don't wanna watch that.
Maybe they'll bring back Old man Cameron and she can date him again, so Shawn can be jealous tongue.gif

I'm superrrrrrrr excited for this crazy love triangle!

I think Jules definitely needs to pine for Shawn for a little while. After this past season, I don't think I'll really be able to like her again until she's kicked herself over it a few times and feels like a jerk. She brushed Shawn a little too easily for my liking.

Yes this was the talk of the boards over a month ago and instead of being worried about Shawn we are all yes bring it on. Andy Berman wrote this episode so you know it will be great. As you can see Shawn is also a hostage so this episode will invole all characters being worried about Shawn and even a chance that they may think that he is dead.

STORY LINE
While investigating a possible crime, Shawn stumbles upon one of a pair of criminals, gets shot, and is dumped in the trunk of a car...

[OLDER BROTHER / MECHANIC] 40-50 years old, the older of a pair of brothers, an imposing but easily manipulated man, he's a Special Forces veteran with sniper training, currently working as a mechanic, who's been roped into his brother's somewhat wild plan to rob a Brinks truck. Under his brother's thumb both intellectually and psychologically, he's recently fallen in love with a beautiful redhead, and thinks that a robbery might give him a chance at a fresh start in life with a beautiful woman. Not very good at thinking quickly under stress, he's in the middle of executing his brother's scheme to weld a false bottom onto the Brinks truck, when Shawn stumbles in on him -- and he reacts badly, shooting Shawn and dumping him in the trunk of his car. Berated by his clever psychopath of a younger brother, who regards Shawn as excess baggage that needs to be killed and dumped, the Older Brother in fact has no interest in killing anyone ever again -- an attitude that gets him killed...LEAD (16)

[YOUNGER BROTHER / GAS STATON ATTENDANT] 30-40 years old, the Younger Brother, less physically imposing, he's the brains, guts and will of the family; unfortunately, he's also a psychopath with a vicious and menacing streak, who thinks the quickest solution to every problem is a bullet in the brain. Having come up with a scheme to use his older brother's job as a maintenance mechanic to cut a hole in a Brinks truck and use it as a point of entry, he's intensely displeased when Shawn literally stumbles upon his scheme. Wishing that Shawn were simply dead and gone, he winds up taking Shawn hostage when his plans start to unravel -- and after he murders his own brother for being too simple and stupid a criminal...LEAD (25)
