I put three new fics on there and I've gotten zero reviews on two of them! I'd rather bad reviews, even, at this point! Here's what I want you guys to do. My handle over there is "Pterryfan." Find my newest, unreviewed fics and write something, anything! It'll lure the unsuspecting into adding their own comments.
ciaddict
I'm pretty bad about forgetting to leave comments, but I'll try to get over there this evening, unsteady. Although I'm trying not to get hooked on any more continuing stories...but my good intentions keep falling by the wayside. I admit it, I'm easy!
Jryan
hah now you know how it feels!
moark
J I'm going to say the same thing.

Now you know how that feels.

But haha I posted Kawalki's version on FF.net and somebody actually favorited it. Haha I'm not surprised.

But when I looked to get it I thought spook wrote it. . . But Kawalksi did . . .

But nevermind me I'm just rambling. wink.gif ]

And it had a bunch of hits. Wow. Over 200 already and I just posted it. . . Well. . . one, two days ago????

Cool noodles people.

Love ya all.

moark
Hey I even subscribed to you.

You'll know it's me when you read the review.

So that was you.

A question. Did you get Kowalski's permission to post it? Because if you didn't, you have to remove it.

About fanfiction in general. I post up there and if one of my one shots gets more than ten reviews then i'm doing something right!

Shipper fic gets the most reviews, whether its any good or not, OC (own characters) tend to get ignored more. It is disheartening because i write predominantly own characters, i'm not and never shall be a shipper. So therefore, i get a lot fewer reviews, but i always appreciate the ones i do get.

I will check yours out the next time that i am there *makes note of pen name*

I apologize unsteady! I'll admit, I never read this thread, not just your's, but none of them. I guess I'm just into the main pages and games, sorry.

It's my story. I'm not sure what I consider. I just right now consider it a really really good betaread version of it.

She thought it sucked, so she wrote a better version I think.

I'm not sure why.

But I TAKE NO CREDIT!!! NONE AT ALL! NONE FOR IT!!!!! NONE NONE NONE!!!!!!!!

There can never be too many 'nones' in this situation.

And yea I don't think she cares.

Lisa K
You say in the author notes over there that it's Kowalski's version. Therefore it isn't yours. You say you don't think she cares...i'd better check first. Whatever.

unsteady: I went back and read your stuff. I left reviews. Really enjoyed them all smile.gif I apologise for not noticing them earlier, i won't do that again smile.gif take care smile.gif

Ditto.

Call me a jerk (I figure someone has to be the jerk) but to blame the lack of reviews on the readers is a little bit beside the point!

Of course, some stories receive more attention than others - and as someone pointed out - shipper fics tend to get more attention. But that alone doesn't make for reviews. One-shots/very short pieces that receive a lot of attention usually are excellent writing style. Other stories that receive many reviews are often times ongoing series, longer FFs or well established FF-authors that have their set of followers. PWP-FF, if it is not M-rated, often times gets ignored.

I usually review every FF that I read, but I don't read all that I open. If the writing is bad or the story doesn't grab me - I may not read the entire thing. As an aspiring FF author (I havn't really published anything), I too long for reviews, which is why I review faithfully. However, I don't think the blame solely is with the reader to if they don't review...

Ok, Flame suit on.

@Lisa K
A non-shipper myself, I'd like to know where to find your FF. Do you use the same Penname at FF.net?

Hi unsteady - I admit to being bad about leaving reviews at more than one place. If I read at the mod board, I review there, or ff.net I leave there - I really need to try to get used to doing both. I'll make note of your pen name and once I have time, I'll get over there and review.

There doesn't seem to be as many folks reading lately - maybe once the the new season starts, you'll see an increase of readers. All the fic sections seem to be quiet right now.

I write OC's for both Logan and Goren, myself and will never, ever write an Eames/Goren shipper fic - wink.gif - and have noticed that there aren't as many reviews at ff.net for either of my pairings. I hadn't realized it was the shipper aspect but that does make sense.

All I know is there is never enough time to read everything that I want to read.

I read your latest one and I liked it! I reviewed it this morning, I think it was. There are so many fics on my 'to read' list, it's not funny. The site has been really slow lately, and not so many folks are reviewing, so that's probably part of it. Don't give up. I will make an effort to pay more attention; I only remember seeing the last one you put up recently. Untitled, isn't that it?

It's true that shipper fics get the most attention on FFN, because that is what a preponderance of the readers like, just like OC fics tend to do better here because that's what the readers want. It's a preference thing. But that doesn't mean OC fics aren't well-received. It just seems that the shipper readers tend to review more than other readers do. That's why the shipper fics are so popular--they are very welcome over at FFN. Not so much over here. As far as hits go, my OC fics get just as many hits as the ship fics, but not as many reviews.

I have been reading less than usual lately because my son just spent 4 days in the hospital with a serious infection that required surgery to treat, so I was totally out of pocket for those four days, and he's having surgery again on Friday. It never ends.

I'Star...I hope your son gets through all of his surgery's OK and is on the mend quickly. It's amazing how much you have to conquer, and still find time to write.

I try to review all the fan fiction I read on all the sites. Sometimes I'll read a little before I go to work (especially if I know work is going to be clunky that day!). Then I'll come back later and leave a review. That's when I might forget. I'll try to keep on top of it though. There are just so many good writers out there! smile.gif

Thanks, Lady! He'll be fine; it's day surgery. But that doesn't make it any less stressful. He's still going to get cut on.

I am not the best at reviewing, but I am trying to get better. There are some great stories I've read and then forgot to go back and review. I feel guilty for that :-(

I write for enjoyment and stress relief (that explains why I write so much). It's nice to be able to lose myself in another world sometimes. I wish I could read and review at work during slow shifts (like nights), but they watch everything we do on the internet and have recently taken away our ability to check personal emails. And since it's a rural site, there's no wifi. Oh, well. I also wish I was a faster reader. I'd get so much more done.

Our server at work blocks certain sites...ff.net being one of them (phewy!). Oddly, though, I can log onto this forum, and sometimes I'll surf to it for a quick pick-me-up rolleyes.gif .

I do most of my reading on the airplane, and when I go to lunch by myself. It is like taking a mini-vacation.

I'll be thinking of your son on Friday! smile.gif
