Did anyone notice that last part in the USA today article that as of February he is a permanent local resident? I wonder if he has decided to relocate?

You know, I am wondering about that. It was quoted in another article too. But at yesterday's city commission meeting about the expo center, the producer made a big deal about saying how the "crew was 90 percent local and the principal cast was 25 percent local" because Sharon Gless lives here. Pretty sure if the star of the show was now a full-time resident, they would have said so.

Also, USA Today said he was under contract for 3 more seasons. I thought he was signed through 8 seasons if it goes that long.

As Karendipitee said, Jeffrey Donovan mentioned that he had relocated to Miami in an article a few weeks ago - I believe it was the article about the Sunscreen Film Festival in St. Pete, wasn't it? Hmmm...

This quote from GA made me laugh - "I think I may have also scared some men, which makes me equally happy."

? - "Tod Goldberg, who has written three companion Burn Notice novels." - I thought there were only 2 so far? Is this a reference to a yet to be published third book? If so, when is it slated to be released?

Thanks for all the new info on BN. Loved the USA Today article and the TV Guide one too. Thanks soooo much for posting rolleyes.gif

BTW, Florida is an income tax free state so I can understand why JD would claim that state as his permanent residence.

Also, Goldberg has tweeted about writing his 3rd BN book. The second one was very good so I'm looking forwarded to his next one.

Great stuff, everybody! Picked up the USA today print...The internet version is so much better!

I checked the newstands to see if there was anymore great BN press like we got today/yesterday, but I'm mainly seeing just the BN ads, and the rest are Royal Pains articles in the magazines (I did find a great GA photo feature I'll post in the GA Press thread).

I had high hopes for the Entertainment Weekly summer preview issue that came out today, but aside from the BN 2-page ad in the front (which USA paid for) and unless I'm blind, there's only a 2-sentence mention of BN in "Returning Shows". Sadly disappointing compared to the great feature & photo spread they did last year. what gives EW? I hope they make up for it in a later issue!

(of course there is the previously-mentioned-in-another-thread EW Poll for Must scripted summer series, where they have pitted us once again *sigh* against the vamps - but surely they can give us better BN press than that?)

My mom mentioned in an e-mail that there was an article about the Burn Notice premiere on the front page of the Weekly Planner section of the Seattle Times. I'm not sure exactly what she meant by that (and I can't seem to find it by searching online), but getting mentioned on the front page of any section is pretty good, since a lot of people will see it. --m

I don't think it is that good yet - Burnbuzz picks up words with mixed results. it is pretty good with Bruce, but not with Jeffrey Donovan - it did not have many of his articles or interviews (and there are some unrelated articles - like some Coach Donovan instead of Jeffrey, and weird photos and entertainment news)

Wonder if there is a way we can contribute what we find - like links to the e-online interview of Jeffrey we like so much. Or if we learn he is signing autographs somewhere? Hope jeffrey now has an assistant who can contribute press releases.

But it is a start!

Yeah, I know. It looks like they're pulling some of it in on a dynamic feed, which is not going to filter, and will get them people twittering and saying "Burn Notice sucks." I also noticed they have Jeffrey T. Donovan (did we ever find out his middle name?), thinking that might differentiate between him and that Tucson sheriff and the reporter for the Christian Science Monitor (I don't think so, given that he is billed everywhere without the middle initial).

I think the Bruce stuff is good because there is a lot of Bruce content out there from his conference call last week.

Work in progress. At least it's a place to go for a quick link to find current stuff.

Yeah, I was going through the stuff and I was curious about JeffreyDonovanfans.com being a source for a quote that I knew I had seen before by GA, anyhow I clicked on the link and realized that it was a repost of the USAToday article, which IMHO should have been the source they quoted, granted JDFans.com posted it, but the original source is where it came from. I think Philippa might have to go and school the USA network people on giving credit where credit is due! wink.gif

I think it's just a feed and they are not monitoring it at all. I am really surprised that the YouTube module is pulling in fan videos. I would have thought someone at USA would have a problem with that.

Thanks for that, Natasha. I am glad they are pushing it, and wondered if it would be comedy or drama. I think that is part of the disadvantage BN has, not purely one or the other.

cool.gif I went over to the official EMMY website. They usually put out info about what shows,actors,writers,producers & directors submit to the ballot. They said B.N is submitted under best comedy.They also said it submitted at least 7 nominations. I'll try to find the link to the site and put it here.

YES, I saw another "for emmy consideration" ad this morning. It was actually on variety.com and was basically the image of Michael & Fi that are on all of the BN ads and on the main site. I'm glad to see that there is a push to get Emmy commit's to consider BN cast members.

Rounding out the group is Michael's chain-smoking, emotionally crippling, codependent enabler mother, played by Sharon Gless. If you think you've got mommy issues, get a load of this relationship.

Although nothing is certain for an actual nomination, it is great to see "Burn Notice" does appear on the preliminary ballot in a few categories, such as writing for Double Booked, Sins Of Omission, Good Soldier, Hot Spot, Bad Breaks, Seek and Destroy, and Lesser Evil.
For directing they are on the preliminary list for Lesser Evil, Sins of Omission, Breaking and Entering, Do No Harm, Hot Spot, Good Soldier, and Bad Breaks. And Michael Shanks did make the cut for his guest run as Victor. Now we just have to hope that BN makes the final ballot after the first round of voting

Looking at the plot summary under the guest actor listing, this is what the description is:

Michael and Victor have secured a file they need to blackmail Carla and
plan to take Victor’s boat to Cuba so they can lay low.

So I presume Shanks submitted the scene on the boat, which was outstanding for *both* Jeffrey and Michael.

I'm SO glad to hear that the show is "under consideration" for an Emmy--here's hoping they actually get the nominations!! They all deserve it!

Making it even to the first stage is a definite nod. I do find it interesting that whle the writing and directing nom ballots are in the comedy category Shanks submitted his guest shot as a drama series (which honestly is where I think "Burn Notice" belongs--it may be sharp and snarky at times but I think of BN as drama

I completely agree. I think of it more are a drama that (ask Mr. Nix says) doesn't take itself too seriously, rather than a comedy. Snarky is a good descriptor. However, I think it IS in the drama category for even the writing and directing. If I remember correctly the comedy considerations are listed first, but BN is in the second alphabetical set, which is, I believe, the drama category. I'll have to go follow your link again to check. smile.gif

Duh, you're right.....I scrolled down to quickly and missed the category break. I feel better now, since I want the show to be taken seriously and clearly it *is* in the right group. Thanks!

Yeah, that one is in Gabrielle's press thread, not here in the general one.

Someone usually finds them to post the same day, so if it is not the publication date when you find it, you can nose around and see. Tougher with this one, given that the GA press thread has been pushed down to page 3 or so.

This first link was new to me. I liked the part about the increasingly strong writing combined with great casting, has kicked this show up a level. Also liked her opinion of the glimpses of Michael's emotional subtext and his relentlessness. "You do not want to cross this man. And he won't stop until he gets what he wants." smile.gif
