So yesterday we were watching Billy Nye the science guy in science class (I know you're all jealous!! ) and at the end for some reason there was this montage of him in random places screaming "SCIENCE!" And in one of those little things he was in a swimming pool and I think I was the only one who noticed but there was a pineapple floating in the pool behind him... it was weird but it made me laugh!!

I like that.

I like that very much.

Today at the quilt show I bought myself an 8x10 matted print of a pineapple from an artist, Rebecca Barker. She incorporated the quilt pattern Pineapple in the background, as well as the "Welcome" flavor!

and now for the end all and be all of pineapple smoothies (it actually says shake ...but i've heard it both ways) -







Notes: A 3 3/4-pound pineapple yields about 3 cups of fruit. When you core and cut it, save the juice.


Yield -

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients -

* About 3 cups pineapple chunks with any juice (see notes)
* 2 tablespoons finely chopped peeled fresh ginger
* 1 pint vanilla ice cream
* 1/2 cup rum (optional)

Preparation -

Put pineapple, any juice, and ginger in a blender or food processor.
Whirl until fruit is coarsely puréed.
Add scoops of ice cream and whirl until smooth.
Add rum and whirl to blend.
Fill a fresh pineapple shell or tall glasses with milkshake; add straws for sipping.
Refill pineapple shell as needed with remaining shake.

oh yeah baby-

Cheese-Paté Pineapple

2 pkg (3-oz size) cream cheese
2/3 cup prepared mustard
2 1/2 lb natural sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
1 jar (2 oz) small pimiento-stuffed olives, drained
1 fresh green pineapple frond

1. In large bowl of electric mixer, combine cream cheese and mustard: beat, at medium speed, until well blended.

2. At low speed, gradually beat in grated cheese, to combine well.

3. Turn mixture onto wooden board. With hands, knead until smooth and pliable.

4. Refrigerate cheese mixture until chilled and able to be molded - about 45 minutes.

5. With hands, roll mixture into a cylinder. Place cylinder flat on cookie sheet; underside will be back of "pineapple."

6. Mold into pineapple shape, about 5 1/2 inches long, 15 inches around at widest part, 10 1/2 inches at narrowest part.

7. cut olives crosswise into 1/4 inch thick slices. Carefully place olive slices on cheese in straight horizontal rows, arranging them so vertical rows run on diagonal (see photograph).

8. Using a wooden pick make diagonal lines, 1/8 inch deep, between rows of olive slices.

9. Cover with saran. Refrigerate, still on cookie sheet, until serving time (overnight, if desired).

10. To serve: With broad spatula, carefully remove cheese-pineapple from cookie sheet to serving platter, standing it upright on broadest end. (Flat side becomes the back of the pineapple.)

11. Place pineapple frond on top. Surround with small crackers, for spreading. Let stand at room temperature about 30 minutes before serving.

Makes enough to spread 180 crackers.

i don't know that there is a thread specifically for Pineapple drink recipes. I know that there are a few recipes posted in here and if you head to the main Psych page they have a section for fan submitted pineapple recipes. If you have any that you would like to share then please feel free to start your own thread if you'd like otherwise i think that this would be the place for them since this thread is for all things Pineapple! Also please post any other interesting Pineapple finds you might have here...

On that link they say there are no pineapples in the spelling bee episode but they were wrong!! I'm pretty sure Shawn was eating a slice of pineapple when he was building the dog house and Henry came home. It was just before he got on his motorcycle. I think they said something about it in the commentary...

haha yep and at the end of the scene he chucked it against Henry's car...

to go with my zombie theme today (and to help honor the requests for drink recipies ) i give you this -

Mexican Zombie -

(you must be at least 21 to enjoy this delicious flavor)




1.5 oz tequila reposado

1 oz absinthe

1 oz pineapple juice

0.5 oz passionfruit liqueur

0.5 oz lime

0.5 oz agave syrup

Float JWray overproof rum.

Shake it all and pour into glass with crushed ice. Garnish with pineapple.

so i'm down visiting family in florida this weekend cuz my grandpa died. so we're at my great aunt's house. not only did they have a pineapple, but their colander looked like this:


and someone sent one of those edible arrangements so there were flower shaped pineapples
and then at my aunt's house, she has a serving plate in the shape of a pineapple!

hahah. so basically, lots of pineapple references today.
