Psychosophy
I've been pondering the philosophical themes presented in Psych, and I am wondering if anyone else has some philosophcial thoughts on the show. For example,

What role does humor play in life?
Is okay to life, if you are doing something good - like solving crime?
What does it mean to be a friend, and how do Shawn and Gus exemplify this?
Is Shawn really psychic, even though he pretends he is not?
What role do things that we barely see in life (e.g. the pineapple), play in how we perceive the world?

I can think of many more questions and themes, but I will let y'all (yes, I'm a southerner) present your own!

Very interesting topic indeed. Actually, as a psychologist (police psychologist, so the husband insists that I speak in a fake swedish accent), what got me addicted to the show is how very deep it really is. There is SO much going on in the mind of Shawn that I watch the episodes over and over again just to take it all in.

The real reason I started watching it, though, is because there has been a string of heaviness and ugliness in my work and I really just wanted to watch something funny, without so much heaviness, that I wouldn't have to think about. The husband was already addicted to Psych, so he suggested it. At first that's just what it was to me, just a funny release, but the more I watched, the more I saw, and the more I needed to keep watching.

That said, I don't exactly pick out questions and try to answer them. That's too much thinking, lol. But I love that they're all there. Most importantly, I am in awe of Shawn's character- so completely "fancy free", yet so deep.

But just to stay on topic, I guess what sticks out most is the theme of acceptance. Shawn is the most content person on the show, and he's the one that really demands the least of how things should be. He accepts his life as it is, and accepts others for who they are, and therefore has a very low blood pressure. There's no one on the show that he dislikes or that he would rather not be around- not even his father or Lassy. He likes them for who they are and works with them as they are.

I really do believe there is a philosophy behind psych at first i was a little skeptical but after reading this thread&re-watching A LOT of psych i realize it. There is a hidden Psychosophy embeded within all the characters, you just have to look for it
