Hello, folks.
I'm a new fan of "Psych", I've been watching for about three weeks now. I saw part of a season 1 episode back when it first aired, and at the time I thought, "Eh, not too good", and didn't watch any more. Then A few weeks ago I was watching TV and saw the episode "Lassie Did A Bad Bad Thing" listed on the guide, and thought, "what the heck, I'll give it another chance." Well that episode got me hooked, and now I'm a fan. Got the Season 1 & 2 box sets and started watching the second part of Season 3 on USA. I wasn't crazy about the typical "Bad-ass cop hates main character" writing in the first 5 or 6 episodes, but since then the show has evolved and allowed for a wonderful growth of all the characters. I really think the show hit it's stride by the end of season 1 and it's been going strong since. I missed the entire first half of Season 3, so I'm hoping they re-run those episodes sometime soon.
Sorry Shaun & Gus fans, but Tim Omundson's performance as Lassiter is what caught my eye. I think it's a combination of a good character played by a great actor (Omundson is under-appreciated as an actor, in my opinion), and the fact that Lassiter is a perfectly necessary "straight-man" to Shaun's "clown". Shaun wouldn't be nearly as funny if he didn't have someone to pester and annoy. Actually, that's one of the great strengths of the show - EVERY character is necessary on some level. I also like the fact that both main cop characters (both Lassiter and Jules) are competent and effective, not just bumbling idiots as often portrayed in other shows. They have saved Shaun and Guss from trouble more than a few times.
So I am now a big Tim Omundson fan because of Lassiter on Psych. Or maybe it's the fact that I'm actually a police officer that attracts me to that character. Whatever it is, the show is great. Here's hoping Season 4 keeps the show strong!
