Is it me or was the giant schnauzer robbed! the sussex, although cute w/ a tearjerker story, was BY NO MEANS the BEST IN SHOW. That was a disgusting popularity show and the Westminster Kennel Club ought to be ashamed of themselves. (p.s.-no, i do not have a schnauzer. i have an 80lb mixed breed and a slightly overweight pug!)

Well, I don't agree or disagree with you because I thought the Scottish Deerhound was spectacular last night and the little Brussels Griffon strutted its stuff too. By the time you get to BIS, it is a crap shoot as to who is going to win and it usually goes to the dog with the most political clout. I believe, as do a couple of my friends, that the judge wanted to choose an unexpected dog. The Giant Schnauzer is #1 dog of all breeds in 2008 so it was rather an expected finish to the show. Plus with last year going to the beagle (unexpected), this judge wanted to be just as unexpected. Any of the dogs could easily have been BIS. The Scottie looked just gorgeous as did the Puli. In addition, no one could fault the standard Poodle either. Can not blame the Westminster Kennel Club for the choice of the judge - in isolation until the time she entered the ring. But remember, with the exception of the sussex, these dogs have been campaigned all year, that judge knew all the dogs in the ring.

We, the spectators, just have to always remember this is really just a game with no truly lasting, world changing consequences to the results. It was fun to watch and I really enjoyed watching all the dogs go around the ring as each of them was truly a great representative of their breed. Any of the dogs could have one and would have with a different judge - this is just one person's opinion on the given night.

No it's not just you! What was up with that?! I thought the same thing and so did a lot of other people! The Giant Schnauzer did get robbed! The Giant Schnauzer should have definetely won! He was gorgeous! Then again, that is just my opinion! Everyone else is entitled to theirs (including the Judge who picked the Sussex, which by the way I also DON"T think deserved BEST IN SHOW! He is a pretty dog and has a wonderful story behind him but there was no way that Sussex was prettier than that Giant Schnauzer!

I also tend to like the bigger breeds and bigger dogs and think that in general they are much prettier than the smaller breeds, which is maybe why I was rooting for the GS!!! I do like GS's...but regardless of that, the dog was beautiful and definetely deserved BEST IN SHOW! I don't own a GS either, I have 2 English Springer Spaniels.

Like the person below you said, you just have to remember that everyone has their own opinion and their own likes! certain people like different breeds. For ex. I don't like the smaller breeds and or the toy breeds! I can't stand it when these big beautiful dogs lose to those tiny little dogs and I'm like "Oh please?!" "Is that even a dog?!" BUT again that's just my opinion and I understand that it has to be fair and certain people like the smaller toy breeds and I respect them and their opinions!
As long as you and your dog did their best that should be rewarding enough and more important than any ribbon or prize! That is just one person's opinion! A lot of those dogs could have won! Theere were many many beutiful dogs worthy of BEST IN SHOW!!! It's a matter of luck, and different opinions!
